It didnt use to be like this a few years ago. if youre having trouble accessing your account, I'd recommend to move on to other payment methods.

Horrible experience ordering food through the app. Every single time you need to solve a weird captcha, which (despite offering ai translation in the app) exists only in Chinese and have no clue what it is about. And sometimes it will randomly block you so you won't be able to access anything. Why do things have to be unnecessarily complicated? Why so many extreme measures for something as simple as ordering food?

unable to work. if you are retired and no new passport. you cannot use this.
alipain verification is slow and buggy very bad experience
impossible to complete verification. AI system flags every photo as blurry or incorrect. then bans your account for uploading too many pictures.
Bad! This app does not support fingerprint unlock for Samsung devices
video verification doesn't work, it keeps on saying "please keep it up" maybe for eternity

Super not user friendly. After creating a new account, I was unable to link with ANY bank card with error fraud detected, even with appeal acceptted. I tried to sign in with another account, and the device got block. So how do you want me to use it when your region doesn't give me other options?!

Unregistrable. It cannot get an SMS through to any of my phone numbers (with which for example Wechat had no issue) and just immediately rejects all my email addresses before even trying to send anything. Tried multiple times over many days.
I was not able to verify my passport chip this problem occur mainly in nigeria and this app is the only way we can make payment to buy good from china
Poor and a really appalling experience using Alipay. Got stuck as the app identified a hoax security breach while i bought a coffee this morning. Now i cannot get a taxi or cannot pay for any food or water. Would never go back to China.
for all the overseas users, do not use this app, except you're in Mainland China, this app, you cannot recharge with your master or visa card, I have talked to the service center, the representative told me, you have to a citizen of Mainland China to top up, because it need binding the Mainland China Bank Card, so, if you're not a citizen of Mainland China, you won't get the bank card, so, you cannot top up whatsoever
Been to China for 2 weeks, app was almost 50% of the time crashing right when I was about to pay.

if you have a bank account in china you can use this worldwide.. if you use. credit card instead, you can only use it in china.. also regardless of the language the notifications are all in Chinese.

I did all the steps to open an account in alipay, then I used it to pay in malaysia and it said only Chinese ID can use.

My phone with a Snapdragon 870 is so laggy that even opening a payment app is difficult. This payment app is bloated and laggy; it's worse than a game developer's garbage.
Installation went well, but it's difficult to set up an account with Alipay. Verification was difficult and took a long time. After it was finally set up, it works for about a week. Then, the account was suddenly freeze. Unable to get help with customer support to unfreeze the account.

“Restricted payment status” - received it after a few days after registration. I didn't make any transactions, just linked my card.
It doesn't even open Camera to take pictures to verify my passport. And the SMS verification code is never received!
Works well. But the app is too messy and takes up far too much storage space
having downloaded the app and completed registrations and linking a credit card, I found that the account was restricted due to suspicious activity (the account has never been used) the appeal process asks you to video documentation but there are no prompts or instructions as to what to video. the help centre is an AI bot which at best paraphrases your question offers patronising consolation then asks you to do the same thing over and over again.
If you want to topup your balance, you need to verify with your passport. Even a 4K version of your passport photo isn't enough to pass their image verification...

まだ何も支払いも入金もしたことないアカウントがセキュリティスクとかの理由で制限された。本人確認で中国本土の銀行口座求められて、中国住んだことないし口座も持ってないから何もできなくて使い物にならなかった。

This app runs a background activity to reas all the possible NFC tags it can. Potential a security risk because it also reads passport and send the data to the server without consents though the app is exited
worst app ever never ever works outside of china. And always crashes. You would think that billion dollars company would atleast put some decency into servers or languages of the app. Noooo. Basically every important thing is in chinese. And server crashes all the time.
