They like to give their first class seats to their employees instead of customers
moving a flight five hours in either direction is a big deal, just so you know. shity American company.
2/14/26: still broken. 1/1/16: still garbage UPDATE: As of 12/27/25 the app is still broken. American Airlines keeps pushing how much they want me to use the app, but it doesn't work. Maybe fix the app before telling me how great it is? Latest update refuses to connect to server. Why must developers keep turning functional apps into useless garbage whenever they get the chance? The app is still broken on my device even after the most recent "update". This app is garbage.
worst app for the worst airline
I wish this app was more user friendly like the Delta app.
Good luck when not if they lose your bags. App cant track them and just says searching. AI is 💩. Customer service even worse. Use any other airline you can even budget airlines are better at everything
This app has always been terrible and has somehow gotten worse. Trying to redeem a travel credit and enter the date myvdate of birth as prompted and the drop down menu doesn't respond. I can't enter my info, and I can't get my credit because it won't complete a simple task.
Doesn't let me check in, doesn't let me view my boarding pass, and sometimes doesn't even show the flight. It also stays out of date (gate, seat, etc.) by like a week. While this was never "the greatest app in the world" it at least used to be functional. Now, not only is it useless, it's an active hinderance by giving you inaccurate information.

logging in is a pain. it sends email with verification code and by the time I read the code and return to enter it, the code has already expired! I don't know why verification is needed every single time and if it is, the code shouldn't expire within seconds. the information in the app about upcoming trips is wrong. it shows a Trip I have already just completed and no mention of my actual upcoming trip for which I have a confirmation number and receipt. Delta Airlines app is much easier.
This is not only the worst airline I've ever flown, but the app is garbage as well. Offered an upgrade when checking in that you want to take advantage of? DO NOT back out to double check your flight details for comparison because the upgrade disappears, and you get routed around from department to department when you try to talk to customer service about it, sometimes even outright being disconnected on.
can't check in - tried joining in AA but would not accept my password which has a Capital letter, lower case letters and numbers
I haven't been able to check in or see any info on my flights, it has no actual function, it just takes up space. its like their code was written in crayon
hard to find the place to redeem miles. The app design logic needs to be clarified. It makes no sense. The current flight information jumps in on the day when you are flying but remains disappeared before and after. And you need to enter your flight confirmation number to see your flight reservation. Isn't it supposed to automatically link to your name and account????

The chat feature is a complete waste of time. The app doesn't contain all of the information from the website or even link to the website.
The latest update of the app has made looking at some of the screens unavailable. cannot view any advantage information and unable to view activity tracking whether miles or points!
