Terrible app
I have 30 years experience building software and this is the buggiest App I have ever used. Just horrible. Clearly they just wanted to get it on the market and do not know how to QA software - makes me concerned as to whether they know how to QA hardware. Would be an incredible useful tool if it worked properly.

The oven hardware is outstanding-accurate, reliable, and clearly well engineered. Unfortunately, the app is a disaster. It is worse than it was three years ago and now locked behind a subscription. Recipe creation and control are broken and actively mess up bakes. This already worked before. The software team responsible should be fired. I will replace this oven the moment a competitor offers comparable hardware with better software

This app and the oven that requires it are both buggy garbage. The app is impossible to connect to wifi and crashes constantly. In the middle of a recipe? Crash. In the middle of setting your oven? Crash. In the middle of screenshotting something so you don't have to deal with 100 crashes during a recipe? Crash. Crash crash crash crash crash. Now the original oven has died, just under 2 years old, and they want over 1K for the nextgen garbage oven and this garbage app with it. Hard pass.
Oven is not shutting off when program is finished, so stuff gets burned. Annoying. App always starts in sous vide mode which is limited to 212f. Unnecessary steps needed. Probe is showing 8C too hot, leaving food undercooked. We will probably return oven due to software limitation. Support is of no help..
Wifi will not connect. App is glitchy
App was fine but now the oven is disconnected from app control and built in recipe functionality. Seems to be a problem with the latest update?
It has a known bug that makes it difficult to use for baking bread. The steam and fan combo from the rear of the oven causes the crust to set up early. The main reason for purchasing the oven was for bread baking. Several of the app supplied recipes don't function. Many of my created recipes disappeared or are corrupted.
super pissed. I bought this oven got the membership. and never got to use any of it but for maybe a week. until I tried to get it back up again online and lost everything. now the oven won't do anything. it won't let me use any features. I got totally ripped off from this company for a few grand and that my friend is a crime. if I walked to your house and gave you that kind of cash and you never gave me anything in return well that's theft. and this Co. has taken my money and no return.
2 years ago it worked great, every update after has broken it and it keeps getting worse. E.g. last used saved recipe gets changed by manual recipe, multi step recipes have become buggy, hard to open a minimized active cook, cook ready warnings show up too late,...
The last update broke the app, useless update. Why make changes to things that were working well? At least test the app before rolling it out. Now the app is completely useless
Great Oven, absolutely terrible app. everyone who worked on this MUST be fired. literally crashes constantly, and have to reformat everything to reconnect WiFi between uses
Since last update as of June 2025 the app no longer allows manual settings to be typed in and doesn't tell you how long is left on cooks, just total time. Please stop breaking the app more every time it updates!
The last update broke the app. When you go to program the oven it will not take a temp setting, because it is out of range for sous vide mode. Doesn't matter that its not in sous vide mode, so the app is worthless.
latest release breaks the ability to set non sous vide temps on the 1.0 through the app. Clearly they did not test this. Great work ANOVA QA!
Issues with Android 15 and One UI 7! Cannot set temperature in manual mode!
App used to be fine, but they ruined it about a year ago and now pretty much anything you do with it randomly breaks. Saved recipes randomly change to nonsense, controls for the oven randomly send different commands.

oven failure after a few months past 2 years, company would not help me in any way. I asked where to have it repaired, they told me repairs weren't possible. I asked for a discount to purchase a replacement. they declined. 0/5 will never buy from again.

Timer still doesn't notify me time's up until I unlock my phone. When will they fix this huge bug?! I would rather not use an app for an oven, but Anova has built their oven to require app use. I can't turn the light on except in the app, and temp adjustments are frustrating on the squirrely oven screen. Unfortunately the app freezes constantly, and the preset recipes, which I use only for the oven settings, make you scroll through the whole recipe to see the settings. Poor design all around.
my anova oven is terrible, the manual controls have stopped working it's just blacked out entirely. I've tried contacting customer support to no avail... 700$ for oven that didn't last a year 😓
Why is it 3 now 2 ✨? notifications of when things are done are almost always delayed not by seconds but by minutes. Unless you leave the app open and don't let the phone go to sleep. Other than that it is a great product. I've done all the troubleshooting BS. and they even sent me a new oven. it's not the oven it needs a FW update and/or the app needs to be improved upon. Update 7-14-24 the notifications still suck and now I occasionally have to reboot the oven for the app to connect to it.
Disgusting to make the app a subscription, I paid 6-900 dollars for the oven due to app connectivity. Now the app is a paid subscription? Great way to kill your user base

DO NOT BUY! Will not connect to Alexa devices, Have tried support but they keep asking the same questions and avoid fixing issue. It appears to be a software flaw Anova has yet to acknowledge or fix. At the 3 year mark, the oven quit working. I found this is quite common from reading different forums. The company offers no after warranty support at all. They will not even respond to customer inquiries if the device is out of warranty. We now have a 40lb $550 paperweight. DO NOT BUY!

The worst app I have used. Every single time I open the app and try to make a change on it, it crashes. Can't save recipes. However you have to use it because some of the settings you can only change in the app. Every review is negative about the app. FIX IT!! I'm having problems with the unit itself as well. It isn't steaming, trying to proof dough temp goes over 100° even when I have it set to 80°. I could just go on and on. The next thing I have to do is customer service, can't wait for that
They have started charging subscriptions for basic functionality. The app just let's you interface with the device you already bought. All it does in essence is definite stages for the device and set cook settings for each stage. It is nice but it is not worth a subscription and they are not providing a continual service, it is just a continuing fee to unlock what is already in the app and device. Do not buy Anova products.
After the new update now have to pay to use it. I hope there will be a free version just with the manual setting and no preset functionality.
Terrible, this app is completely filled with bugs, as well as the hardware. Now they want to charge monthly for it, are you kidding me, I have had the oven for 2 years and not a single bug has been fixed, the app still doesn't work, what the heck are they thinking. Garbage, I will never buy another one of their products again, I have spent over $1000 on their products and I regret every purchase. Never again...

Well, this app was great, but you took away the one feature - quick start - that I used every day. And now it won't connect to my oven.

Changing to 1 star.... Wi-Fi stopped working. Can't connect no matter what we do.... Reset everything, uninstalled, turned off all 5ghz routers, etc... still fails to connect with passcode....
Love the ANOVA combi oven but the app needs work. it's functional for running the oven but don't try and save your own recipes for later. You can't sort your saved recipes, can't reorder or search them. It's a real pain in the butt when have to scroll through all the recipes you've saved just to get to the bottom of the list.
App crashes every single time. I have the app open about 5 minutes in. Fix it please. It's pretty useless right now which really sucks because this oven was very very expensive
