Dass man die Untertitel nicht ausschalten kann macht sie App unnutzbar. Schade!

Beim Login gibt es einen technischen Fehler. Beim Öffnen der Suche stürzt die App ab. In diesem Zustand leider komplett unbrauchbar.

I started watching the series"Top of the Lake" through the arte website. I could not switch off the french subtitles, so I thought I'll download the app and watch it there. This should be a better user experience. Instead I cannot find the ARTE(!) series at all on the ARTE(!) app. What's going on there?

Or, il faut maintenant avoir une connexion au réseau pour pouvoir regarder des vidéos téléchargées (censées être disponibles hors-ligne). Absurde !

Dubbing is awful, and I prefer to watch in original language with same language as subtitles (don't hear well). I managed to switch audio to original (English), but then the only choice for subtitles was French. Other productions can only be viewed dubbed, and for some there are no subtitles available at all!
Great app, but with two main flaws. 1) The language selection randomly gets reset, i.e., if I'm watching a movie in English it reverts back to French and it's impossible to swap it back without closing the app. 2) The subtitles cannot be turned off for any language except German or French, i.e., if I want to watch a movie in English I am forced to get French or German subtitles. Please fix.
No background playback and I'm only shown content available in the language the app is set to?!‽ Are you kidding me? It's disgraceful that the arte app, of all things, locks viewers in a cage of monolingualism. Arte is great and deserves better.

Different content depending on app language. You'd think it's based on location like most other apps, but if your app is set to English, it'll restrict access to some videos regardless of the language it is in. It took me a while to figure out why I could access specific films and documentaries on one device but not the other despite both of them being a few centimetres of each other on the same wifi network, only to realise one had the Arte app language set to French and the other to English!
It's so difficult to search in the app. I watched a video without noting the exact title and couldn't find it again using keyword searches. I found the video right away using those same keywords on Google and YouTube. Why don't the developers try doing a search to test their product? Arte offers a great program but the app doesn't make browsing and searching easy. It's a pity.
La previsualisation des videos consomme une bande passante déraisonnable, y compris sur réseau mobile. Pouvez vous permettre sa desactivation ?
Won't even let me watch the films they advertise. Some good stuff on here. But what's the point if I can't watch it in my country.
Un fonctionnement absurde de l'application : je découvre que selon le language que l'on sélectionne dans les réglages des programmes disparaissent ; exemple "langue anglaise" = la série "samuel" disparaît. Soit tous les programmes devraient être disponibles pour tous, soit nous devrions pouvoir choisir plusieurs languages dans les réglages.
