Bad reception? Get ready to wait for the app to decide it can't sell you anything before allowing you to listen to what you've already paid for. The new layout is terrible. I thought they reverted back after so many people complained, but I guess they were just adding back the features they removed in random places. Either way, still a garbage app. It's amazing how Amazon manages to take great products but deliver them with garbage apps.

An app that fails at the basics and charges you money is a contributor to the rise of piracy. Why is it that open source thievery is safer, more reliable, and easier to use than this nonsense. Don't go anywhere without internet, you literally will be denied products you paid for and downloaded on your device. Check what they do to smaller authors.

I subscribe. I download books. it's a point of downloading, I thought is so that you can listen to things when you have a poor cell signal, or no cell signal. that's not the case. it works fine when you have a good signal, and it works fine in airplane mode but when there is a marginal signal it cuts in and out. I thought I downloaded it? what kind of idiotic design is this?
LIES ABOUT THE NUMBER OF BOOKS YOU CAN READ! Their standard subscription is one book per month. But they don't say that when you're subscribing. They lie that you will have access to all their library. Once you subscribe and pick a book you like, they then charge you extra for the next book or force you to get a more expensive subscription. I'll be canceling at the end of the month. More false advertising from the ultra greedy.
very bad selection and its wayyy too expensive for what they provide
app is ridiculously low volume. to have it loud enough to hear you need to turn it up so much you get hearing damage when the ohone makes any other noise. they are aware of this but done nothing to correct it.

Auto-playing a "recommended title" by default at the end of my current book is extremely annoying.
These companies draw you in with a 1 month free trial, but you MUST give them.your card info. If I like the app/service I will renew, but to require card info for a free trial is ridiculous. HARD PASS for me.
Can't play my downloaded purchases without internet connection. Consistently. For years now. This has been an issue on iOS and Android and persists through all updates so assume it's a design choice. Without internet the entire app gets greyed out and nothing short of accessing the internet will fix it. And it can happen in the middle of playing a book- app just decides to cut off access. and your gigabytes of downloads become completely useless. Worthless.

I tried to just pause it but it would automatically unpause. so I was forced to uninstall
I hate how the app opens to suggested purchases instead of books I already own and am in the middle of listening to. I have to tap around several times to do what I want. It feels like an ad I can't skip instead of a bookshelf.

The interface is wonky. Some chapters won't let me navigate at all. Some will jump back to the first chapter when I try.
The app has issues that have not been fixed for weeks, and when trying to get in contact with support im greeted by a "person" that talks like chatgpt in its early versions, and halfway through reporting my issues the customer care specialist 'Allen' just closes the conversation. Putting me back to the start despite the audible customer support chat function stating that I will have 24 hours where the chat will stay active.
