im only giving 1 star because there is no way to go minus 0000
no way to pay. must book now and pay later. this totally defeats the purpose when the credit card you are using includes collision. I called and also tried the website. no way to pay. rediculous!

the worst experience,they will do everything to surpressed to have their rates applied ,this corporation does not have or can stand by what they say the will do, They claim to say a person experience is too priority,which is the total opposite,Ii was their last during my trip,
even if you select to give you all the taxes and tariffs you always get a higher price at checkout, not to mention it gets constantly frozen and has to be restarted, and useless when you need changes. also it doesn't really show you if your rental includes unlimited miles or not
I made a reservation on line, downloaded the App at Avis's behest, and signed up for the "preferred" membership (also at their behest). Nothing was ever even mentioned about a deposit. I go into the downtown Fort Worth location to pickup my reservation, and only when I'm inserting my credit card am I informed of a $200 deposit being required. Now, I'm unable to keep my word regarding picking up my Brother from Humble tomorrow and bringing him to live in Fort Worth. Thanks a lot, Avis!
This app is incredibly frustrating. It constantly spins without completing anything and is painfully slow. The worst part is payment-it fails, then forces you to re-enter everything from car choice to dates and flight info. Total waste of time. Honestly makes me want to cancel my Premier membership. Avis needs to fix this.
how about some clue as to where one needs to go to pick up the car so they dont wait for 45 minutes in the wrong line, then 40 in the right line.

It doesn't work on my zfold 6. No matter the screen width, it thinks it is a tablet, making it unusable for to verify a rental delivery...
The tabs don't work on the bottom of the app. Totally unresponsive
Repeatedly displays "After Pickup Window" right at the reservation time. 4 months later - still same problem. QR code is never usable because the app can't tell what time it is relative to the reservation. please fire the intern who wrote this still horrible - never stays logged in passwords need to be reset - fails - fails - files. just throw it in the dumpster

Constant issues with log-in and downloading receipts
Unless you know your username you won't be able to login. Why do apps locked with a screenlock and biometrics need to log you out in the first place? Hopeless if you don't have this information available.
currently the app isn't allowing me to select anything from Home to Account tabs below. I can still scroll but it's not registering my selection. Never had an issue with the app until now.

Charged my Amex four times when trying to make a booking, but gave me an error saying I needed to use a valid card and to call customer service. Called Avis to discuss, call centre hung up on me because outsourced to Philippines and aren't properly trained, just call takers for bookings. Avis tells me to call Amex, Amex tells me to call Avis. What a garbage app and company.
I wish there would be a zero star option for this app. Glitchy, badly designed and will not let you operate at all unless location permissions are given. Absolute rubbish!!
Buttons are nonresponsive! Not able to view my rental. app always logs me out and forgets my saved password/biometrics when I need it most and am near the Avis rental. Points are not added to my Delta rewards despite numerous calls/chats for help.
App is clunky. It feels like more and more things are taken away from the app. I can't book a car with points in the app. Express Pass QR codes often don't populate even at hub airports for exiting. I rarely can see what cars are available to change what I leave with.

Did the update and I'm unable to make selections on the app. This app is trash!
Very bad upgrade.. using android phone Google Pixel and when I select the date for reservations the dates will not display properly and at home screen I am not able to navigate to trips or profile options .
Screw your company a lot of people don't have or want high credit limit cards so it makes it impossible to rent a vehicle. Be more transparent on your policies for debit cards.
inability for any level of escalation to modify my trip, left me stranded in an emergency. I could have easily handled with National. Will never be using avis again. this has been my back up from time to time but I will never rely on them again as they have proven to be a liability to my buissness travel. Time to try out budget as a back up. but always use national if avalible. simply the best and I regret evrey trip that I dont use National. they roll with the punches and build strong loyalty.
Don't rent with Avis. if you have to go somewhere and they are the only option, go out and buy a good pair of running/walking shoes and just walk to wherever you need to go. I have been a "Avis Preferred" customer for 10+ years (as of 2026) and every single time I have rented with Avis for work, a car isn't actually reserved, so I have to wait in the 30 minute line just for the staff member to manually assign me a car. I promise you, today is the last day I ever rent with Avis!

Start up is extremely slow and the buttons on the bottom bar do not work.
extending your rental is horrible now. nickel and dime you and inconsistent rates app glitches that don't show what the extending amount is more than half the time. should have never changed this. GREED
password requirements are ridiculous. constant hassle on a new password is frustrating and the need for 12 characters is onerous. you are not a bank.
The app is very buggy and extremely limited. It won't let you do simple things like change the billing method, directing instead to call a number that tells you they can't do it either. They make it very difficult to spend loyalty points.
