app is extremely glitchy, won't let me use my debit card as a payment form on my account. although I have booked with my debit card before. Avis, please get your app under control. You're ridiculous
buggy and slow. this app frequently claims there are no cars available and errors out while trying to select a car with Avis preferred. oh you wanted to make a reservation through it? here lemme shove 4 ads down your throat! let's not forget the bogus cleaning fees they charge with 'evidence' that doesn't reek of fraud.

literally the worst app I have ever used. I have NEVER rated an app before yet felt I needed to go out of my way to rate this one. despite being a long time Avis customer I was prompted to verify my account not 1, nor 2, but THREE times. it also doesn't even show me my rentals!! I can see them on the web portal, but they never show up on the app. when I try to add them I am sent through an infinite loop of password confirmations. this app was built by a gorilla on cocaine, I am certain of it.

even though I updated the pickup time after my flight was cancelled the app info didn't update the information and my reservation was cancelled

Update: why do we have an app if the session expires always, especially with biometrics enabled. step backwards... I am sure it's again Google's terms to provide wrong contact information here like the email address! who did the UI? white font on white background 👍, calendar with no day information 👍, removed the ability to use biometrics to change a rental. 👍 app is getting worse with every version ...
takes forever to load each screen
glitches all the time. very user. unfriendly. does not allow me to pick the proper car even in my class when I get an alert from the app about my car is ready to choose. it's not even anything in my class multiple times and never a car I want. I do not like this app and I do not think I will be using Avis anymore because they really messed up this last reservation that I had. I had a Costco reservation which is supposed to be $394. App just doesn't work since the update. Try to sign in and the app just spins. It's stuff like this that gets me to pay more to rent from National.
Worst Live Chat Customer Service I asked for help with an app issue. They told me to ignore it and then closed the chat. Lungelo deserves to be fired.
App is super buggy. It randomly loses my rental (that I can see on the website / when clicking on the text message to choose a car). Moreover Avis asked us to choose a car for our upcoming rental but then released our reservation because 2h have passed since choosing the car (but not from the booking start!). -- Edit: app got worse with the recent rewrite. almost nothing works on my Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Not a responsive app. It had connectivity issues when you least them; airports or in parking garages. Making changes on the app has almost never been successful leading me to call anyways.
Update...App performance has improved in 2026....This is my old review. Used to work fine but now its awful. Told me my account was deactivated and would send me an email to activate which I never got. So I reset my password. Then the app sucks and wouldn't let me complete the reservation despite a dozen attempts. Gets to a point a freezes up, won't let you accept T&C and continue. Very frustrated.

I just tried using it for the automated checkout and the app wouldn't let me log in. I reset my password and it still wouldn't log me in. I uninstalled it and will just use web browser to access their stuff.
this is the second rental this month ive tried to redeem points on the app and "something went wrong" but as soon as I cleared the points redemption away, I was able to book. yall are crooks. 🤷♀️
Seriously one of the worst app experiences I can remember. Constant login issues. I reset and it still won't let me login. The app also takes forever to load. This app experience is enough for me not to use AVIS -- that would be unfortunate.
App will not link to my reservations, so I have to put the 11 digit confirmation number in EVERY SINGLE TIME I want to check my reservation. Why even have an app?

Potentially one of the worst performing apps I've ever had. constant error messages, very slow. I have yet to be able to fully complete a transaction or modify a reservation on this app. I will say it is easy to use when searching but last that it's useless.
