I had subscribed to their website because I needed help, priced at 50 x 4 sessions, which was a lot of money to me. I cancelled the subscription after I had paid because I didn't want a subscription for so much money attached to my account. I had 2 sessions with my chosen therapist, the second of which was near the end of the subscription month. and was unable to make a third as it had gone over the sub month. I thought I had 2 left (that I had paid for!), but no. Be careful!.

Good luck ever getting help if you have state insurance such as Medicare and medicaid. just another glamorized therapy service that poor people will never have accessible to them. I wish I didn't know this exists because it's a slap in the face and a reminder that I'm not worth saving because I can't feed your wallet because you choose to not accept insurance that poor & disabled people need.

This app (in my opinion) is intentional in being vague about all of their charges.
lower benefit than just going outside and being bold. sessions are overpriced and unavailable. let this company rot for reaching too far
I've had decent experiences with Better Help in the past, but recently I had what was absolutely the WORST therapy experience I've ever had. That would be bad, but not necessarily Better Help's fault, but it was unfortunately followed up by one of the most drawn out, frustrating, and genuinely stupid customer service experiences I've ever had. I definitely will never go back to this app.
The therapist did not bother to read the into. they just want your money. to cancel there is a 20 question required survey. it won't cancel unless you answer all their stupid questions and write explanations. no help, just greedy.
I logged in promptly for a session that refused to connect with everything working on my end. The only assistance I got was to submit a ticket to support. I was robbed of my time and charged for the session. All I got was added stress and expense.

I had a horrible time with my therapist. I would never in my life recommend this for therapy ever. DO NOT USE THIS APP
1 star because I talked to a therapist 1 time on a video call and then I was charged $60/65 every week after for like 3 months after that with no other visits. please be careful when you go into the app what you are agreeing to. customer service is no help. they will listen and the tell you that determination will be through email and thats no help. 3months at $60/65 taken from my hsa per week for 1 virtual visit is crazy with no refund. they say its what you agreed to and keep your money
I wanted to have a positive experience with BetterHelp. I was matched with a great therapist, but while figuring out payment, my discount code expired before I could use it. Without notice or consent, I was then assigned a new therapist before I could continue with the original one. For a mental health platform, this felt insensitive. The lack of communication and consistency was discouraging, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

SCAM ARTISTS. Do not pay this platform. I've repeatedly asked for a refund, called their customer service line, which isn't even actually them, and still nothing. They took my money, provided no real help, and are stonewalling me. They already settled with the FTC in 2023 for deceptive practices. Nothing has changed. I will do everything in my power to make sure others don't make the same mistake.
this app sells data so I dont use it when I found out about this atrocious act. dont install at all they actually got fined for it and facebook and snapchat both were involved always good to do research on a App especially one that pretends to be good but is actually evil
They use Amazon web servers to host and hold your data. Imagine when Amazon is allowed to comb through your therapy notes with AI...
one therapist, after one session told me she did not want to treat me. I signed up for another, he didn't even respond. He sent me instructions on how to change therapists. I thought it was a mistake and made an appointment, so he re sent the same email. I imagine if someone is in crisis, this kind of rejection could be dangerous.
I've used mainly the website, not much the app. Technically, it's fine, but out of that, therapy is a complete scam! Run away from this service or any other "professionnal", they are litteral scammers. If you'd want to feel worst after than before using a service, useless and just a embarassing number, Tinder is a cheaper way. Therapists on BetterHelp are reacting with the same energy, consistency and deepth as an 18 year old who think the whole world desire her.
My "matched" therapist messaged me after I scheduled a 1st appt that she didn't feel she had the experience to help me with my simple therapy request but that she'd "try to support" me. I tried to match with another therapist and the options for new matches ignored all preferences from the assessments- i.e. matched me with some red-pilled Alpha-Bro life coach when I asked explicitly for female therapists. Customer support was unhelpful and unapologetic. Cancelled and deleted permanently.
let me just go ahead and do an hour long survey that asks me how suicidal I am like it's a joke and then it actually is a joke because they tell you right after that these sessions are only through text or video chat. like what? no in person meetings? first to find that out you need to do the hour long survey
misleading prices. it says "24/7 therapy: free mental health support" but it actually costs CAD$380 PER MONTH?!?! what is free about that?????

Complete waste of time and money. I went through two separate therapists. both highly rated with stated experience in the areas I'm concerned with. Both therapists were completely useless. The first felt like I was paying monthly just to chat with a stranger. Over six weeks it felt like she didn't build any kind of profile or anything. The second I was so hopeful for because it seemed like she was putting in effort and messaging outside of sessions. but no, just the same genaric advice
What did I walk into? Better Help is no help at all. Get out while you still can.
I went into crisis one night. My therapist removed me as a patient, I dont remember the exact wording. I attempted that night.
Think of this service like a mobile phone contract, u pay each month and if u don't use all your sessions in said month, u pay all over again next month. No a good pricing strategy that enables consumers flexibility.

I saw this app and thought, " Why not give it a go?" I've been struggling recently, and I struggle to open up about how I feel. so imagine how I felt pouring my heart out to be sent to a payment screen. I know that things cost money but straight up? no free consultation? and $90 a WEEK. Why even have a promt to ask if you're struggling financially? THIS APP IS A SCAM AND STEALS YOUR DATA AND SHARES YOUR INFORMATION WITH THIRD PARTIES. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM.
Every therapist I spoke to was uniquely incompetent. Makes accessing bad therapists easier than ever! I assume no one who was good at their job would be on this platform because they'd be able to attract actual patients in the real world.
absolute clown show of a platform. therapists are all over the place and nobody seems willing to help, just to collect their paycheck. Avoid at all cost.
Not a great experience just caused financial stress and got matched with therapist from different time zones very confusing would not recommend save the stress and money and go to real therapy.
My experience was terrible. The first person I talked with was 20 minutes late and didn't have any idea how to give a therapy session. The second person was angry, thoughtless and had absolutely no idea what therapy is about. I hung up after 10 or 15 minutes. I was charged for the full month and they will probably try to charge me more even though I canceled. Beware if you use this company. They are not there to help you. Tom Taylor

Unprofessional therapists. went through 3 or four. I was regularly canceled on; had to listen to personal stories. just poor vetting over-all.
therapist I was connected with was great, but my first session cut super short due to connectivity issues. week later same issues, cannot get anywhere without the app freezing and having the therapist and myself close the app and reopen it from freezing again and again and again. it wasn't worth wasting 200$ for 2 weeks of nothin but freezes
doesn't accept insurance. don't waste your time.
had a therapist, then an insurance hiccup, and they wont pair me with my old therapist again, or say why. I dont want to start from scratch. My emails feel half read, and some questions were not answered. the therapist accepts any insurance, also the lack of insurance.

I heard the podcast True Crime Bullsh*t do ad reads for the app, telling us how much it's helped him over the years. He also takes many extended breaks due to his mental health, so I don't know if the ad reads are blatant lies or if the service doesn't work as well as he claims. I ended up going somewhere with more reliable recommendations.
On top of not being able to keep up with the app financially it really feels like an app where just anyone can be a therapist. It does not feel like alot of these individuals are licensed and they just kinda grabbed anyone willing to listen to people.
I worked with a therapist (I believe her name was Amber from Florida) a few years ago. At first, the experience was positive and she seemed supportive. However, when I began opening up about having suicidal thoughts, she responded by saying, “I would slap your face if you ever think of that.” Even if it was meant as a figure of speech, it came across as threatening and made me feel uncomfortable in a very vulnerable moment. I decided to switch to a different therapist after that appointment.
I've paid $120 so far and haven't met with a therapist because they're all so busy!!!
