ok. so yes, it protects from bad things downloading. however, my kids found a way to hack into the Apple "Privacy Settings" and listen to music that is not what I'd approve. if a "safety app" is THAT easy to hack, then that is terrible! i tried blocking my child's ability to get into the app (they don't have the main app, nor the passcode) and they are still able to get into Google search engine FROM CANOPY! and can't be monitored. I want every single penny back, now, and maybe more!
We've been using Canopy as a family for almost 2 years and over the past couple months it has become really horrible. Apps and websites that used to load flawlessly now fail constantly. As near as I can tell it is the installed Canopy VPN. When that is disabled the device works as expected, but with it present even apps like the Bible App fail to load. The Canopy knowledge base doesn't offer much help either. We're looking for a new option for content management as a result.

The worst subscription canceling you can possibly experience. They say to go to google play but it doesnt show up there at all. This app slows down every other app which is a little frustrating. Definitely could use some improvement. Though, this does do its job better than most, but is easy to bypass so its really not effective.
customer service is terrible. you provide them with logs and information and to get a better experience. you get met with radio silence and the experience doesn't change. you are operating a brick. unfiltering apps doesn't matter because even unfiltered apps don't load. find a better app, because this is not it

I also have this installed on my iPad and ZERO issue. its like the app was written for IOS and very cheaply ported for android. I hate this app so much!
the lack of an option to buy once makes this useless
Between this app and the device control apps. Your VPN on the "monitored" device now blocking my ability to utilize the ChargePoint app which has blocked my ability to control the home charger for charging my EV. Once again this app is rendering what should be normal non parental controlled operations and apps from working! no longer allowing login for some reason riddle me that one??? 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
Difficult to delete and cancel the subscription.
updated 2/25/26 deleting app. Gave it 10mths. Its stopped my hubs phone from updating. We thought the phone was broken until we turned off the app. We can't send pic messages in FB unless it's off. Several apps dont work. Had to take it off my phone because I couldn't access my autheticare clock in app for work. It barely blocks what you want but it definitely turns out phones into expensive bricks. Never worked with VPN that is soo poorly designed and blocks so many features!

over zealous app, spend more time trying to correct it's settings than actually using my device. 90% of the time have to disable it just to connect to the internet, can't open most links because the app blocks them. apparently homedepot 's website is too vulgar for this app to allow access. asked for refund, developer refuses. pos app , don't spend your hard earned money on it.
Works well for filtering. However, it frequently makes my apps run very slow. So much that it almost makes Internet browser and other apps unusable
Do not use this app! It reconfigured the phone so that when we encountered inappropriate images coming through we can't uninstall the app. Customer service won't answer the phone. AI and online chat do not know how to handle the issue! I was finally able to uninstall it through his Google Play store. He shouldn't have that option! It should all be done through the parent's app and password.
thought this would help filter inappropriate Google results and videos. instead it was slowing down THE ENTIRE TABLET making it awful to use. instead of filtering, it basically killed all search results. even after attempting to be more permissive, everything was being blocked. kid apps that I have subscriptions to and were marked as 'allowed', were being blocked too. despite being blocked, my phone was never given a notification that something might be searched. I've received zero notifications
Awful app. VPN sucks, slows your phone down enormously, and filters things that aren't explicit in any way. Microsoft? TurboTax? One review says they got blocked from accessing Google. That's ridiculous. This bs is a waste of resources
installed the app and render my phone unusable had to unlock and uninstall after 5-6 time I was able to get control of the phone but all other app had to reinstall again then 4 days later I get charged $95.00 thanks for making me pay to use my phone back...
Does not work. Multiple issues, multiple apps it does not work from, a waste of $10.
App crashed on initial start up, twice. laggy and slow. Icons for the UI struggled to load in. Website said to install app to cancel trial. App said to go to website to cancel trial. Other reviews reassure that this app is a waste, especially after being unable to even accept the privacy terms until letting the app crash again and force close.
hate this app, I installed it and It didn't work but it slowed my phone down a lot. now I can't Uninstall. I'm actually wondering if I downloaded a virus...
Garbage app that breaks Windows internet 100%
totally interfered with Norton and antivirus functionality and had constant new windows popping up when I wasn't trying to open anything
please make some features for free

Uninstalled immediately. Not paying for any app that I have no idea if it works or not.
Sometimes the app does what it wants, downtime is not respected by the app. The app does not pickup on dirty of faul talk. I am very disappointed in having to pay for something that is still very much a beta version.

Horrible app... Paid version never works. For few months trying to get help from support... When protection is active you cannot use Internet... Support doesn't know how to fix. Spent hours trying to sort it but it just does not work. Waste of time and money... Looking for alternatives now. Not recommend! As a reply support team is fixing this since June... So you are selling app that does not work... Should give money back and redo app from zero...
1/28/25 Screen time refresh stops working for days(5 days now), support is non-existent because its "working on their end", and you can still watch porn on youtube even on the strictest of settings.8/3/25 My favorite part are the "updates" that render canopy useless. Its been a week with no screen refresh but according to their email it'll "be back shortly". There's also apx 200 sites Canopy DOESNT block8/10/25 screen refresh still doesnt work8/16/25 open app & it shows "bad gateway: canopy"
Screen time is not working and stays blank now. Location awareness lags, downtime does not work, and screenshots would make it much better. Too many sights are blocked that have nothing to do with nudity. Only wanted to try it for the 7-day free trial and was automatically charged for 1 year. Very disappointed and customer service is of no help.
Messed phone up. It will only flash the blue screen now showing the canopy app. I cannot even click on any other apps this blue screen automatically pops up.

Usage Reports not reporting for over a week. Trouble ticket submitted a week ago, still not resolved. There Doesn't appear to be any rush to fix. Difficult to get answers or resolution. When the app is working properly, it's a blessing. I'm frustrated with the lack of consistent reliability and functionality. I will take down my low rating when they fix my current issue and restore the fully functioning service as advertised.

The design of the app and visual appeal is intuitive and great.
This app killed basically everything on the device I was trying to monitor. they couldn't even watch youtube. yes i changed the settings. also VPN's are not compatible with fhis program
This app isn't reliable when it truly counts! 😤 It started strong, but then stopped responding on the target phone, letting things slip through. I updated the app updated the phone and still saw no difference. I felt so relaxed and confident, thinking it was doing its job. Also, be aware that some vpn browser apps can get through this app due to their design. The platform is a bit cluttered but ok once you get used to it. I still have not figured out how to track daily activities.

The larger package (10 devices) got changed to 5 devices. but the price stayed the same. My license expired by accident and our PCs can't connect to the Internet for anything. I can't uninstall because the request code can't be received when Canopy stops Internet traffic.
Pretty good filtering. The biggest advantage is the blocking of partial nudity. However, it is hard to figure out how to make it work on my phone, and it doesn't apply to all apps. The accountability partner feature is good. This would gain stars if it were possible to set time limits, and even better if it were possible to restrict app/website usage during a specific time (e.g. no Snapchat after 10 pm). Edit: -1 star once I realized just how slow this makes your device.

Great for a long time but a recent update forced my YouTube restricted mode to be activated with no way to deactivate it and says that my google account is still "managed by my organization" even after removing the canopy shield app from my PC and setting google to "unrestricted" (which defeats the purpose of why i need it). It's extremely frustrating that I don't have any control over what google settings are active since I only need the app to filter out specific content.
