Great redesign, but the app is very slow and laggy. It's actually embarrassingly slow and laggy.
Never perfect, the creator decided to change to a subscription service that removed many of the basic features from the original version. While no one can begrudge their need for funding, the pay model wasn't thought out appropriately. What's left is a very flawed app with a paid version disproportional for any casual wine drinker. Cannot be recommended.
This has gotten way too expensive. I've always enjoyed using the app. Very useful and the new version is a nice visual improvement. But nothing warrants the huge increase in price. I'm forced to pay 4x more for a slight visual improvement. I feel like this has gotten very greedy. Friends I have are forced to pay upwards of 500$ for the exact same experience as me. Unacceptable
Used to be a good app as a convenient way to keep track of drinking windows for my "cellar" of 2 dozen assorted bottles. But they've now removed that feature from the free version (and it's now 40 USD per year!) So the app is now pretty pointless for me.
Old version was 100% better. Very buggy now. Scanning is much less accurate and often picks wrong wine entirely. It looks like they are trying to advertise. Always have to select every part of wine location when moving wine in my cellar. Its wasting my time, and it costs significantly more than before.
I've used this app for about 7 years and have really liked it. I used it mostly to track the drinking window so I didn't let a wine sit for too long before drinking it. With one of the latest updates, the developers have now moved this feature to the subscription only version. Now, this app is no more valuable than an Excel spreadsheet unless you want to pay $40 minimum a year for the paid version. Pass.
Waste of time unless you subscribe and start paying. Trial period would be helpful.
The App is long time not updated ! Very slow! Can not give precise score with one person voting 100 points- it shows for example one score of 100 points over better wine with multiple scores with 97 points, can be used for private ( not realistic) votes Sadly
Does not work on Android 14
Why doesn't cellar tracker work with new versions of android?
I must buy really rare wine, because so far almost none of my label scans produce results. I haven't quite given up yet, but if I have to enter everything manually it seems I may as well just use a spreadsheet.
Not particularly useful if you are new to wine. I was hoping to be able to browse bottles available locally and read reviews. Seems more oriented towards inventory. Also had no results for a few bottles I searched. Still on the search for an untappd equivalent for wine
Troublesome & complicated
Very user unfriendly. It feels like the developers hate you or do not have any knowledge about app design and user experience. They say that it is powered by Vivino, but why can I find some wines on Vivino but not on Cellar Tracker?
Mobile app is hard to use and seem like webpages are good but not many Australian wines
Installed on moto g7 supra but would not open just black screen. Uninstalled and tried again...install lasted 5 seconds and would not open so I doubt the app is working. This is a new phone using AT&T through Cricket Android version 9. Ok I tried a 3rd time giving it lots of time and finally got to open😀
Horrible app. GUI is very clunky, can't find vineyards. And if the search is powered by vivino then why do I need this app....just get vivino
Horrible experience. Hope this app gets removed from the play store. There are better apps for wine collectors that actually function. Maybe the programmer should stop drinking while hes writing code.
The app doesn't work..
App freezes when opening it. Tried in two phones and its the same. Wasted time creating my inventory.
Does not recognize labels. Pain to log in using a password manager. Not worth the effort or time.
couldn't get past the log-in.....!!!
I spent half an hour trying to find how to add a new tasting note. Didn't find it. Uninstalled app.
another dumb site
I've been using CT for more than 15 years. There's Lots of great data in here, but unfortunately, the folks who built this thing somehow managed to squander a wonderful opportunity by creating a clunky and unintuitive app 😢. The previous version of the app was also not great (and very slow) but it did have the advantage of making it easy for users to leave ratings and reviews. I suspect that user generated content has declined with the new version.
When consuming a wine, I start from Consume, select the correct bottle from the correct bin, but when I click 9n the consume button, the bottle preselected is not the good one (when the same wine is present at several locations). Please fix this and I will raise again the number of stars
I used it for over 10 years, but the good features have been made subscription only. A pity.
Avg. App but tons of spam comes woth it
I'd been using this software for years and had had enough. The navigation is terrible, and adding or "drinking/removing" wines from it is a hassle. All of the other features are wonderful, but can you simplify the experience and provide a decent navigation on the app? Instead of this "ported over" from the desktop version, why not make a true app?
the idea sounds wonderful but when buying wine club wine they typically dont have barcodes and the scanner does not effectively find labels
This app doesn't rquire as many permissions but functionality is hindered if you don't use it and like all apps you have to just trust they are on the leve. The barcode scanner is much needed and the overall collectio of information for the bottle seems on target but ultimately the app navigation is cumbersome and kind of sucks. This app lacks a lot in nav & interface. Its web based Facebook styled trash.
No internet in my cellar / App doesn't have an offline mode. App UI looks outdated. Lots of potential if these issues are tackled.
I don't get the positive comments; the app is practically useless for what it's intended to do. First of all, despite the claim "powered by Vivino" their databe is so poor hardly any of my bottles get a match. Then, even worse, there's no option of manually adding a wine. Lastly, the bottles are sorted in a weird way and appear without a picture of the label, which is by far the easiest way for people to recall a wine bottle.
Too limited, not enough data.wine search is much better.the only positive thing its apps little storage.
It does the job and has good flexibility but dear good the UI is an absolute mess. There's no logical way to do anything, creating an unnecessary learning curve. I actually get more frustrated with it every time I use it. For bottles going in and out of our cellar almost daily I end up with half a country covered in bottles because I keep putting off actually using the app.
very disappointed now. Having it only for a year, adding my wines from my wine clubs as they come in, and now the app "can't find" my new wines and won't allow me to manually add them without "considering a voluntary payment"!!! What the Hell!?!?! what a scam...again#
