When I used the app a few years ago it and game were great, convenient, useful etc. Now the app doesn't load right, doesn't save things, continuously glitches out when I press a button, adding 5.5 screwed everything up, stuff incompatible, or I have to buy everything again, it's basically unusable. I'll find something else.

Menu navigation is a joke even when it is functioning, it constantly duplicates random entries and ignores others. If I was a brand new player and used this, I'd probably quit playing entirely because there's no way you'd ever figure out how to use this.
WOTC is really trying to drag as much money as they possibly can. all I want is to get a Tabaxi race for an upcoming campaign. we used to be able to buy individual races but no now I need to buy the whole stupid scourcebook for one race!
Downloaded and registered for the app as I was under the impression you could pay for specific species etc, and I wanted a digital version of my Leonin Barbarian character sheet. But you now have to buy the digital versions of both 5.5e and Mythic Odysseys of Theros in order to do so. So over £50 for one character even when I already own the physical books! Therefore I'll stick with a paper version, and delete my account and the app. I don't mind paying a fair price, but that is ridiculous.
more updates the worse there getting . obviously who ever this new team is in charge the new direction is not for me
No way in hell I'm paying 30 per book for source material, that's robbery. Not to mention the 15 for the Pugilist class? All you need is a sheet of paper and to look up the stats to make one, I'm not paying to play. It's no wonder nobody under 30yo plays this anymore. And it doesn't even have all of the source material for DnD, it has like maybe a couple dozen books, pretty much all behind a paywall.

Why should i make a separate online account to Wizards to even use this app?

Being locked out of your account with no clear explanation is wild. I have literally used the app like 3 times. Haven't logged in in like 2 months and now it is telling me to contact support. I just won't keep the app.

The mobile website has all the features of the service and can pull in legacy rules. I don't see any reason to use this app

didn't have the species i wanted. i wanted a custom character that was a Cambion cross between a dragonborn and a tiefling. looks like I'm gonna have to look elsewhere.
Phb should be included for free just for reference.
Unfortunately.. incredibly annoying. I'm using this app across devices. The amount of time it fails to sync, consistently, permanently, is a laughing matter by now. The only workaround is to entirely remove it/clear storage and login again. Which is dumb. And a horrible experience. And makes me question who vibecoded this app. Right now, I have a level 9 character. Updated on my phone. Fine on that device. On a tablet it's a level 8 character (details) or 9 (character list). Completely broken
It won't load anything in listings, it's hit and miss for viewing your character sheet, and it seems like every update the damn thing gets slower and that's before you consider the trackers.
my DND beyond app refuses to open now, it's just forever stuck on the logo 😭 I pay for a subscription and use this a lot, I'm so sad

Pay to play completely sucks the joy out of the game.
They don't care if you bought a physical book, they want you to buy everything again in app. Unless you want to pay double, the app is useless. I have no respect for the company after this.
This app use to be great and if you want it as a digital copy of your character sheet it works for that but i swear it doesnt let you look at anything anymore. i cant even pull up the 5.5 classes, most of the spells old and new and it just doesnt work as a way to check spell wording anymore and thats the basics of what the app should do. if they fix it i will change the review but in its current state this app does not work.
Chromebook no longer supported. App is forcing me to try and update without allowing me access to my purchased and downloaded content. I understand updating the system but locking me out at the same time? At least leave me the legacy books I already purchased. I purchased the bundle back when D&D first announced.

This app isn't compatible with your device anymore. It was working 2 weeks ago at our last game.

it says that I have to sign in to use my subscription but i am alredy subscribed and the subscription is the one year one
they are solely trying to make D&D pay to win and they just want us to subscribe to digital content the CEO of Hasbro described it as untapped revenue this app is just here to bleed us dry for something that we could use books and paper for
something broke the spells page recently. they are no longer loading. both legacy and 2024 versions.
They just made this application incompatible with my device. I've been using D&D Beyond for 6 years now. Wildly disappointed.
It's still the best app out there since it automates so much of the character management process, but it's legitimately sad how far it's fallen over the last few years. Almost no quality of life improvements, some characters class features are still impossible to use, and it is so preoccupied with funneling you into the latest paid content that it actively makes itself hostile to use.
takes for ever to change sheet once changes are made in setting. not always easy to navigate. bugs, here and there.
Just like the website and its use for managing DnD its hit and miss. Some stuff works great others are half implemented /half baked don't work or work weird. Even some basic stuff is just... Jank. Disappointing that a company that chased down and closed better working free alternatives couldn't replicate features of free alternatives first. But hey enforce that copyright I guess.
It's not intuitive, and would LOVE to be able to use my physical content w/this. Y'all need to stop being so greedy over everything. Stop being obsessed w/short term profits that screw us over
you can no longer purchase individual parts of a book which in this economy means I cannot use the app for most of my characters even if I own the physical book
its hard tl navigation and the UI is boring
i mean it looks decent but subscribing to not get access to any material is pointless. turning into a desperate cash grab. this is looking more like greed to me
