garbage game don't install it
GAME IS LOCKED TO PORTRAIT MODE. So I paid for this wanting to try at the very start of the series... and it's stuck on portrait mode. My device is ONLY landscape mode. FIX IT.
No controller support.
not a good experience at all
Portrait mode is stupid for this game. The exact same port for the Switch is in landscape. The Final Fantasy ports on Android allow you to switch between portrait and landscape modes. WHY CAN'T DQ1 DO THIS?????
Only has vertical orientation and controls horribly. What a joke. I can't even refund this garbage cash-grab.
I was able to farm resources by millions but it all went to he'll when I level up no stars I wish
Needs landscape mode and controller support. Otherwise it's really a great game and a true classic. But I absolutely cannot deal with the lack of landscape or controller support.
The on screen controls are horrible and I can't get used to them no matter what. They could have done better with just turning the phone sideways and putting a simple directional pad on the left and a b buttons on the right, but nope. Terrible setup with a single joystick and confirm button in the middle. Ridiculously stupid. Unplayable. Why can't the phone be turned sideways?
Hadn't played in a couple months, just went back to it and my save is gone. There goes hours of my life. This isn't worth paying for if our save games just disappear for no reason
It's a bit silly that the entire series is all portrait view while being clearly premium prices compared to other android games. For this one and for the other games, Widescreen & Gamepad support as well as Customisable Controls (to be where we put them on the screen even in black bars for a retro 4:3 ratio screen) so it's accessible on more devices like tablets would be very welcome. Especially for DQ8! Fun game just frustrating format, shame considering this is the only way to buy from Square.

Fun Factor: 6 Overall Score: 35% Letter Rating: D This game has the same energy as a distinguished silent film from the 1920s: I respect it, but it hasn't aged the best, and I don't particularly enjoy watching it. It defined my favorite genre of all time-a game genre that has shaped my interests and helped me get through the darkest times in my life. Yet this game doesn't compare to almost every RPG I've played. It doesn't have any downright awful bits, but outside of the charm, it's not great.
never buying another square Enix game. I'm tired of the changes that are being made from the original source. if the changes made shouldn't matter, then why change them in the first place? im just going to DL the rom and an emulator so I can get the true game. if buying isn't owning, than piracy isn't stealing.
If the menu button worked it would be 4 or 5 stars. You can't even equip new items or wepons. Also I have paid for this already and it asks for me to pay again to install. you still haven't refunded or gave me a way to reinstall the game as of 2025
Fine for what it is, however the settings are minimal, only allowing you to move the onscreen controls placement and not allowing you to change graphics settings. You can't change the controls if you have a physical controller, you can't even flip the screen to make the gameplay vertical instead of horizontal. It's a shame because it looks like they put some effort into this one, but I just wish they did more quality of life improvements. As it stands, it's a pretty ok port with nice redesigns.
The game is good, but you cant transfer your save files to a new device, no cloud, and no copying possible.
So disappointed that I can't use Bluetooth controller to play....
