★★★★★ "Works as intended but the experience is not great. Can't create any text files or duplicate them. No way to add file paths as favorites even though there is a favorite tab. The UI/UX design is just really bad and needs a rework." - Ali Rozarra

keep saying "unable to perform this operation: 119"
can't log-in
file is sitting waiting to download and will never ever start downloading. rebooted Nas uninstalled app no change.
works, but only sometimes which is worse then never work at all. it backs up my photos but sometimes misses a whole bunch. so at first it make an impression of working fine but upon closer examination you cannot really rely on it
App is constantly crashing. No thumbnail previews for mp4. It's better to rely on 3rd-Party apps, I resorted to Owlfiles. Synology Apps are unusable. Always nice to pay a premium price for hardware like a Synology NAS to then get it to use with really bad, not user friendly software.
Broken, gives error 119
does not work
Totally useless. Since day 1 it never connected. DMS 6.2.4
I mean, what a bad app... connection issues, force closes... guys fix this!
app is useless . crippled unusable. couldn't have been tested. utter waste of time
Broken - Error 119
This app takes away the ability to paste your authentication code. the only option is to autofill from a message which doesn't happen because you're using an authenticator app.
incorrect permissions for use. It only has photos and videos permissions ask. This app needs file access permissions in order to download data. Seems like a huge oversight on all these Synology helper apps.
Can not connect to my NAS from ALL Android Devices - I double checked my Login credentials and still can't. Uninstalled on my Pixel 10 Pro - still the same problem
horrible this app crashed every time it's impossible to download something from your server
Downloads fail all the time, but I have no problem accessing my Plex server hosted on the same NAS...
The actual worst photo backup solution I've ever used, it breaks for no reason and doesn't tell you about it when it happens.
not always working
looks out of date, behaves out of date, and is ultimately a trash app; it's there just so they can market "we have an app"
Garbage app
dogshit app. synolgy is a garbage company
Recent app update keeps getting stuck on photo backup causing it to keep uploading the same photo or video again and again. Aside from not completing the backup, it's killing the phone battery
Impossible to login
It's absurd when photo backup after time stops working without warning. And to continue backup, you need to re-enter the 6-digit pin!!! Synology has been surprising me lately.
Couldn't even start using it. It keeps asking for some 6digit code and I've no idea where to get it from...
This app is built by people who don't use the app.
doesn't work in DSM7
Won't let me auto-upload if I have notifications off. BUT the devs are bad at beta testing and assume everyone will have notifications on so the alert doesn't say to turn those on, just storage permissions. 🙄
Absolutely dumbfounded as to why they stop developing arguably the most important freaking Synology mobile app. Jesus! 🤦🏾♂️
File permissions are not working cannot download anything
the photo backup function is broken, no options to set the rules as specified in the help info, I can set the account, destination and source but not the rules. I used to rate Synology devices as really good, but the apps are absolutely rubbish at the moment.
poor ui
Refuses to login. Synology Drive logs in w/out issue, but not DS File. Synology Drive does not allow access to my files though. I am able to use a web browser as well to login. The problem is DS File... critical error....
Edit of original review: app has been broken for upwards of a year without resolution. Software development cycle at Synology is lagging so far behind acceptable that it's time to find a new solution. Another edit: I finally lost hope that they're ever going to fix permissions and found another CIFS browser for android. Coupled with VPN it's a better than 1:1 replacement. I'm happier without DS File.
Spams you with unsolicited notifications
Won't work with synology 2FA and doesn't show attached usb drives anymore
Cannot download files on Android 14. It notifies you that for permission is needed, but it's not available to give. Really stupid fail on basic functionality. I tried to clear the cache and purge the app, reinstalled, but still cannot download
Does not work
Doesn't work anymore. Won't even let me log in.
Downloading of files or folders from my NAS does not work. App stops all downloads, continually asking to "allow storage permission". There is no such permission on my Galaxy S23. I have enabled "Photos and Videos" permission and disallowed all Notifications. Update: The download works when Notifications ate switched on ... but I don't need 500+ notifications for 500+ files ... Synology needs to sort out the app message (allow storage permission) and not spam me with msgs for every file download
Now shoves ads into your notification tray. Can't turn them off without turning off all notifications for the app.
Dark mode is long overdue and needed.
This always asking for 2fa on my samsung s24 ultra, worked well on oneplus 8 pro
Search doesn't work at all, that's the main purpose I would use this app for my synology.
Same problem as Jory Gilson reported in Jul 2024, no solution and no reply?
No way to get it to send you the six-digit code you need to log in
The only permission that is needed is missing, file permissions. It is asking me to enable them, but they aren't listed in the permissions list
Hard to used and access
I agree with the earlier review, this app isn't working. It used to months ago but not now. Save yourself the headache of trying to make it work.
