Requiring a app to access and not just allowing the user to sign in on the website is absolutely infuriating. People don't want an app for everything.

It is one of the most inconsistent app I have used. Fingerprint login doesn't work so many times. Multifactor authentication was running into issue and then it just stopped logging me in. In past, lot of times due to caching issues, app would just show a blank screen with Empower RET written on it and never load my account info or anything. When this happens my only option is to login on website using computer or wait till next day to resolve cache issue. Seriously one of the most horrible app !
not working . Will not let me sign in
Terrible. For an app that can control valuable financial information, it's not very user friendly. When trying to log in and retrieve your password, you can't even use the keyboard. And too many failed attempts will lock you out. If you happen find a way to enter the information anyway, they say they can't find your account. Fix it and I'll change the rating.

very poorly made app
Absolutely garbage app. Constantly broken, crashing, inability to log in, inability to see updates on overview, cant add your own bank accounts because thats broken.. Everything, and oh I mean everything is broken. These geniuses dont even have a web dashboard when the app doesnt work which is always. Pretty unbelievable for an employer 401k. Please fire the developers of this app and hire new ones that can actually make a functional app.
login rarely works
I really miss personal capital. empower will now take up to 90 days to delete your account, and you have to start a support ticket. most of their integrations are flaky these days and support is non existent. if you value your data and time, go somewhere else
I thought tasc was bad. This is one of the poorest designed apps I've seen in a long time. Performance and features are on par with most apps from 10 years ago. maybe they didn't update it recently.
Very buggy. Has pages where the keyboard won't stay open, preventing you from typing.
hard to get into the app
every time i try to reset my password. the app wont allow me to enter my birthday. it keeps bringing up my keyboard and closing it. i can't enter anything. dont get this app. from the looks of it. they aren't fixing anything.
poor -- I have to reduce this to one star because I can no longer use the app. My password works on the web version of the app, bit not the android version. Do I have the right app? who knows, there is no explanation. Ridiculous!

04/29/26:I can't log in. 04/01/26:I’ve been unable to rebalance my portfolio due to repeated “A problem has occurred” errors for years. The website forces users into the app, so there is no alternative way to manage the account. This effectively blocks access to critical portfolio controls. Based on other reviews, this appears to be a widespread issue that has not been resolved. This is unacceptable for a financial platform where users need reliable access to manage their investments.
after spending 45 minutes on the phone with a rep who had just as much trouble with it as I did, we finally got it to work. 3 days later I try it again and the app freezes and can't even use the website to login. it literally forces you to use a non functional app. I would give it zero stars if possible. I can promise I'm taking my money out as soon as I can.
Allegedly my personal dashboard was consolidated into a single app, but that didn't actually happen. Now I don't have access to the overview or features that I previously did. Awful customer service experience. Would not recommend.
can't log into the app, can't set my DOB because the app force closes the mobile keyboard so unable to input anything. no website log in on mobile forced to use a faulty app that is inaccessible
im literally trying to register my account and every password I come up with is invalid. never signed in before, and it meets all of the requirements listed, but it still says invalid

what the heck??? im trying to do forgot password and im able to punch in all my info, but when I try to punch in my birthday the keyboard keeps disappearing.......
Redownloaded because I forgot why I got rid of the app, and was quickly reminded while trying to log in about the keyboard issue at sign in. I cant even type information in because of the looping glitch that minimizes the keyboard.
They keep breaking the app. Now I can't login. Every other update, they break it. Ridiculous

The app has become unusable. The two step verification prompt is broken and does not allow a method to be selected.
I can't log in!!! The same issue that most everyone else is complaining about. Install, Uninstall, update.....one successful login and then error message! Repeat the process all over again and get the same result. I spent time with a rep who said it should be fixed and it was until it wasn't....again! I really don't like the feeling of not being able to access and see my hard earned money when I want to see it. Please, fix this problem.
The app has been broken for months. You can't login, as many many people have reported. I think the company is basically non-existent at this point and can't even keep the bare minimum infrastructure working. Probably it's best not to trust them with your data.
