Update 7/3/26: When I create a note within a notebook in the app (Android), the tool bar doesn't show up so I can't add photos or attachments. I agree that the new interface is terrible. The previous version was intuitive but now I spend far too much time just searching for a notebook.

Since 2026 the evernote team decided to increase the subscription to an absurd fee just to keep 3 devices still connected. If you want to keep all the devices you had ao far you need to oay 199 euro. This is insane. The fee rises were incremental logically the past years but you got to keep all your previoua devices still connected. Now the want 200 euro for that...kiss my posterior evernote and bye bye...

horrible. not at all worth the money, charged me multiple times, I had to subscribe to get to my notes and unsubscribed but was still charged multiple times.
No warning for a significant cost increase and it is intentionally difficult to change plans or access payment methods
Complete and utter garbage. The app is basically a scam to attempt to get your credit card information. doesn't open in updated browsers because it wants you to download the app once you do it makes you sit through an ad for the app you already installed before continuing only to have several pages of "last chance offers" that show up every single time you open the app. it makes it so that it's so inconvenient to disconnect previous used devices that you are forced to pay to even use the app.
Wants you to pay for absolutely everything now. How greedy can you be?

Update for June 2026: the mobile app is unstable, the clipper works only about 60-70% of the time. For the price you charge now, this is unacceptable. Changed my life, highly recommended for creative thinkers who need to keep track of their ideas anytime anywhere

This app is a money grubbing load of dirty laundry. I just want to see my notes and I get 10 walled pop-ups demanding I upgrade my plan because I have more than 50 notes from like 15 years ago. And don't get me started on the pricing. I am migrating.
What kind of company suddenly triples the rate to around 200 €/$ per year for a note app. Crooks that know they don't have any future that is whom.
used to be amazing. imagine an unskippable ad upon opening, definitely not worth what they are charging.
constant upsell
Unbounded greediness, annoying popups, and nothing special. It makes no sense to use this note-taking app anymore, the downsides are just too many. Competitors provide most of the functionality for free. Joplin, Obsidian, and OneNote are all much better than evernote.
User for 14 years. Too expensive for personal use. Can't change/update notes on my Samsung S25 Ultra.
worse & worse : at first like 10 years ago it was really nice. then we couldn't add another device. and now I can't even open my free account opened several years ago with previous data for my trial.
I've waited over 10 years to write this review. I've held on, hoping things could improve, stubbornly holding on to the app I first started centrally keeping every and any note... and been disappointed time and time again. I just simply cannot believe a note taking app could be so comically bad at its core task of being a note taking app. I'm sorry, but dear developers, please just give us the basics... unfortunately, I will be shopping around for a new notes app.
Updated the app and lost every single piece of data I had saved. What an absolute POS app, you literally had one job and you failed dismally.

I just needed ONE picture to convert to a pdf and I needed to make a new account, download this app, then it won't even let me convert the picture. this app is terrible, not to mention the constant subscriptions. scammers.

Pathetic customer support. No response to issues and queries. They moved my subscription to Free randomly and since then no response. Lost money .
Longtime paid user, now deeply disappointed. My plan was discontinued and I was told renewal would default to €1,700/month (!!!) instead of €27.98. The "discounted" option was still €381/month. There is no seamless move to Advanced: support told me to manually export/import thousands of notebooks one by one, after giving wrong guidance twice. A scheduled support call was cancelled minutes before. Evernote now feels like it traps your data behind absurd pricing.
Do not install! The prices are ridiculous and unjustified. This used to be a good app years ago but the price hike is too much. And this stupid AI technology is more annoying than anything. Use Joplin instead which is open source and can import Evernote from desktop. Or OneNote if you want larger size support. I was a long time customer but now have no choice but to unsubscribe, and because i have so many notes. Sorry to see it go downhill. Hope they learn.
Editing my review. This app used to be great, now it's no longer free which was cool but they increased the price again. This app is not worth $21 a month just because you added AI features. Canceling subscription

yay, now with moar en$#;tifi¢@tion (anti-user design). e g, this has two desirable+helpful settings...turn off or on alleged intelligence (a i), and if on, suggest note title (a k a first line of text...no thanks). problem is evernote values...two of which are deception+user frustration. even with both set to off, a large "suggest title" button obscures your ability to read *EVERY* note *ALL* the time+erases yours when accidentally clicked if one attempts to navigate away. switching to obsidian
A counter-productivity software that doubles its prices every few years to fund “upgrades” that only hinder your note-taking. There’s always something floating or popping up, so you can’t read what you’re writing or click a link. When you finally manage to click it, the link doesn’t open. Adding another popup and rising prices again will SURELY help. And btw, the notes cannot be downloaded in bulk, so once you are in, you are stuck with this self-indulgent money pump.
continuous required logins are annoying and make the app very difficult to use.
I used to love this app so much back in 2020 but now I no longer have space for new notes, so now every time I want to make a new one, I have to delete a old one. the user face is also different and less appealing. Overall the pay wall blocking everything has led me to unistalling the app. I've seen other reviews on here and im gonna transfer all my notes out to Samsung notes instead before I lose access to them forever.

I am deeply disappointed that, with all the complaints about the sluggishness of the app, for over 6 months, nothing has been done to improve it, and I can no longer use the previous versions 😡😡🤬 Came back in 2026 to see the app has only gotten worse and costlier from the reviews. You can port to Zoho notebook did the same and it was seamless. It is a shame what Evernote became, so much promise but non-existent customer service
I loved this app, for many years it was my wingman. I've been a paid user since 2016 (when the cost was £22.50 per year), and a free user for years before that. But the price kept increasing a lot, I didn't see the benefits. The recent price rises that take the cost to over £150 per year are criminally insane and IMHO an act of self harm. so I have migrated to Obsidian, it was an easy process with the included tool and a Google search. $48 a year for syncing. way cheaper than Evernote.
I've used Evernote for almost 10 years, but I'll be deleting it today. I can't use the app at all without being pestered to death by the upgrade pop-up. And now, the limit of notes you can create is 50. Not the amount of notes you can HAVE, the amount of notes you can CREATE. So the app is no longer usable for me because I've made more than 50 notes. And it doesn't matter that I've deleted things and have less than 30 notes now. Pretty scummy.
