The detectors give constant false alarms
this a very bad app, I will never recommend it to anyone. I wish that there were negative stars to rate this app. I had to delete it and use the thermostat as a manual, not as an smart thermostat because nothing is smart abut it or this app. it's a waste of time. I will go get a Nest thermostat since it works with Google, and I had nest thermostat before without any issues.
Cannot change temperature display to show Celsius.
Location permission is mandatory to do anything. you can't just manually enter the information. I just need this for my AC. I'm changing my thermostat to a different brand
Poor notification management. It does not categorize notifications so you can filter the unwanted ones. Example, I don't want lock notifications but I do want HVAC notifications.
The app was fine and has been acting weird the past week or so. I'm receiving constant notifications about a person being detected. This is happening despite no one being there and the privacy setting be on. Getting annoying as it's hard to tell when someone actually does come unless I keep checking.
this buggy app signed me out and then won't even let me sign in with the saved password.
the directions on the app do not work. Once you can't get past a step you get no guidance

I have to keep opening and closing the app several times before it actually opens and I can see my devices. I keep getting a blank screen. This app is useless. App is pretty dumbed down for the S200 thermostat. Offers home, away, sleep and wake time slots. I had better programming options on my Bryant Evolution thermostat, that was 25 years old. Seriously? This is the best you can offer?
Won't even open on my Samsung 24+ after installation.
Does not connect to thermostat anymore. worked fine for the first two weeks, and then got a message that my thermostat is offline. when I look at the thermostat everything is working fine and it is connected to the Wi-Fi but the app says it is offline. I've tried removing the device & adding the device a couple times, uninstalling the app and reinstalling the app a couple times. now it just keeps spinning for the past 12 hours that it's syncing with the thermostat. I'm finding it a useless app.
This is just for the simple fact that everytime i want to get into the app to adjust my thermostat, I have to sign in. it drives me crazy. why once I have my app on my phone cant I stay signed in? With our lives based on having so many apps and changing passwords on an insane level cant we have as few as possible pws to remember??? Ridiculous.
Crashed up. will not sign in and was told nothing wrong try later. Was nice while it worked. Won't let me delete my account because it says working ok.
Residio stopped working with Google home and Honeywell home instructed me to install this First Alert instead. I have been using Google home to change the setpoint of my thermostat. In residio it worked perfectly. In First Alert when the set point is changed a permanent hold is applied so that the thermostat will no longer follow the set schedule. There seems to be no way to make a temporary change in the setpoint the way that Residio worked. Support agent confirmed there is NO FIX.
I was forced to download this app. nothing has worked properly since. once it drops you, and It will, there is just no way to get it to function again. I am forced to buy a new thermostat. what do you think the chances it will be a Honeywell?
Always trying to sync but no video
No longer links to Alexa, multiple uninstalls and reinstalls, lognouts etc of both Alexa and Residio. can control the thermostate by the residio app, but no longer by Alexa ...
can't log onto my account

I am unable to sign in on my Android Galaxy S25+. Everytime I try to sign in after entering my email and password It returns to sign in page with no error message. Works on iPad with same credentials. Frustrated. I reported via Chat 10 days ago Case # 17085530 but have not heard anything.

Spent 45 min on phone yesterday with customer service. I'm in my 26th min today. I'm being doom looped from and to sign in /create acct page. updated phone, deleted and reloaded app several times. I'm being told that their software cannot work on a Samsung android phone. First Alert told me that Samsung has done something to prevent their software from working??? They said they were working on problem and would call me when a solution is found, but had no idea or estimate of when????
rarely works and when it does, its extremely delayed where the person already rang the doorbell by the time it provides a notification.

Does not work
I am a 35+ year heating professional, I will no longer recommend Honeywell/ Resideo thermostats or this app. I have tried to use it in my own home and am having nothing but problems. Since being forced to switch to the newer First Alert App a month ago the thermostat goes on and off line multiple times. Now today, my T6 thermostat was dropped off the app and I am unable to reconnect. take note Resideo, it's not good when a long time professional in the trade will no longer recommend you.
absolute trash. I'm away on Vacation. the app updated and deleted my thermostat.
suddenly devices disappeared from the app. when I try to add them again it says delete device from app first. but the app shows device deleted. can you fix this bug?
I'm not sure if the app is the problem or the devices, but I'm about to tear out one of the smoke detectors that keeps firing a false alert. It keeps going off at the most insane times of the night. And there is no indication of why. I've seen this to be the same issue others have noted, so it appears First Alert has some technical issues to resolve. I for one, cannot afford loss of sleep due to a faulty alarm.
Drops connection with thermostat and will not reconnect. There is nothing wrong with smart thermostat or wifi. It's just the app. Doesn't want to re-add even if you start from scratch. Shouldn't have to contact customer support for routine troubleshooting.
Don't do it... You can thank me later. the SC5 is a total disappointment. Ten years with the Nest smoke detectors with no false alarms and not a day without issues since I put these in... junk
spinning wheel of death when preparing/syncing device. this app sucks. been trying to work with chat support but they keep ending the chat which requires me to close the webpage and start over troubleshooting with someone new every time. three hours fighting with this stupid thing. of course nobody offers a phone conversation. absolutely ridiculous!!
always signs my mom out of her account and she has memory problems so this app sucks. ive check everything on the phone side, like dont log out with inactivity...
it's a ok app. It just opens very slow and it just shows me a black screen and does nothing for awhile so not sure why but it's an issue this the third time this happens not sure why.
the link for terms and conditions as well as privacy policy won't open anything. im not dumb enough to click "I ageee" to something I can't read.
totally screwed up! , App will not connect to thermostat connected to prior Residio app. Can't delete connection to old Residio app because old app no longer allows login.
clumsy interface, poor customer support.
This app adds too much complexity to a thermostat while missing important features. For example, I go to a second home every week (days vary). I am not able to hit "vacation mode" and have it easily switch to established vacation settings. I have to put in departure and return dates every week which is a nuisance. Or I can try to use their auto away feature which is suppose to know if you are home. One of our thermostats is located behind door and cant see me. Make it simple!
