Horrible customer service and a very buggy app.
do not recommend, they abused with expensive penalties for small thinks, I returned my car 30 min late an make me paye 90€ fee...while the car renting was 50€...they abused of power. Definitely take a others app
they would overcharge you even when their app and their fuel gauge is wrong. Users should not be punished for your app error. Do not use. Update: Standing by this review even after their comments and engagement with the staff.

I was scamed 750euros because of this application and support do not reply
Twice in a row, someone sends a request to rent the car, I accept and then it falls through. No notification. Apparently, Getaround lets people keep on looking even after they've agreed/confirmed, unlike Airbnb. And the commission they have on it on both sides, is huge. So much to make rental not so appealing and option.

J'arrive devant la location, impossible d'établir une connexion avec la voiture pour là dévérouiller. J'ai éssayé pendant au moins une heure mais rien à faire, alors que ma connexion internet marche très bien. J'essaye de contacter le service client et aucune réponse de leur part. Donc non seulement j'ai payé, je n'ai pas pû accéder à la voiture mais en plus il n'y a personne qui m'aide à résoudre le problème. J'ai intêret à être remboursé en intégralité
very bad service. they are requiring you to have your international drivers license translated in order to do a 50 euro rental, same rental in a regular avis/hertz/etc takes 5 minutes and without all this endless verifications. I gave up on them
Application inutile pour des étrangers. Le processus de validation du compte est archaïque. Alors que je conduis depuis 10 ans et que j'ai à la fois un permis étranger ET un permis Français, Get around ne veut pas valider mon compte. Si vous êtes français l'appli est super, si vous venez d'ailleurs laissez tomber. Très dommage.
in order to "validate" your profile they ask for documentation that doesn't exist. how the f do you want me to come with an "old drivers license "? when in the states we have to give it back to get the new one. Now let's see if I can get my money back cause who knows? maybe they need a pic of my credit card from 1990 Hey getaround, here is an idea... maybe you ask for all the ridiculous documents before letting us pay for rentals, that way we don't have to deal with the headache
it's the worst application They should have given to me back 500 euro And I have been waiting over a month to take the money
used web search to find options, it suggested this one. offer was good but at end got expensive and old car for nothing like in ad itself. cause booked it and didn't do proper research it's my fault but offering 14 years old car for price as alternatives gives 2026 models is just sick. and overall it was just bad experience. not worth money you pay at end for 14 years old car presented as 2026...

Just doesn't work, searches returned zero cars every time, every location. support just gave up trying to fix the issue.

really bad experience. car dirty. no power. engine alarm. no care for users. and on the top, expensive renting. it's not worth it.
The app is very bad, we cannot end the rental because they decided to unverify the account. We are now stuck, The only support is by call and it's been 40 min waiting to get someone. They ask more documents because they say it's faud, the car is already paid and we just want to return it. We are going to miss our plane and have to pay more because we didn't returns it in time, even the rental guy is stuck with us.
peor empresa, son unos estafadores , solo perdí dinero, no tienen sistema de asistencia a propietarios, su GPS manda siempre ubicación equivocada y se metieron más de 3 semanas en darme una respuesta para repararlo, por lo cual me hicieron seguir pagándoles la mensualidad y aparte cancelar las reservaciones que ya tenía de mi coche. a un amigo igualmente le pasó lo mismo como propietario

Horrible customer service. Host didn't provide proper return instructions, so I had to figure it out on my own and ended up returning the car 4 min past the drop-off time and got a late fee. When I contacted customer service, they said, "System automatically does that. We can't change it.". Yeah right. I'm glad there are other options because I won't be using getaround again.

I rented a car and returned it on February 25th. As of today, I still haven’t received the 5,000 deposit back in my account.

⚠️ Application d'escrocs !!! ❌ À ne pas utiliser !!!!! Ils ont des règles pour vous piéger et font tout pour vous induire en erreur et vous faire payer de grosses sommes ou vous induire en erreur (pas de réponse aux demandes). C'est déplorable. Vous allez regretter de recourir à eux.
app bugged out and I couldn't return the car. spent 1 hour on hold then one hour with customer service to finally return the car manually. they promised I wouldnt have late fees, but of course in the end I did. app seems convient, but don't be fooled, they will rob you blind.
Avoid Getaround if you don’t want your holiday ruined by false promises and mechanical failure. They advertise 24/7 assistance, but the reality is a restricted 8:00-22:00 schedule where nobody actually answers the phone when you’re stranded. We didn't even receive the car we originally booked, and the replacement we were forced to take broke down almost immediately. This platform offers zero support when things go wrong - save yourself the stress and book elsewhere.
cuidado que coche alquiláis. lo alquile dos veces y me estafaron. cobraron el depósito y el dinero de alquiler. pero el coche no exsistia, tened mucho cuidado no es de confiar esa página llevo más de una semana reclamando el dinero y todavía sigo en espera de alguna respuesta.
This application is an abomination, a text book example of how you should not create an app. And this is by someone who used a lot of bad apps. You want to rent a car? Let us kick you out of the app to the webview and back, several times during the process. Let us charge you for the car rental, even before we verify your profile (and you can't rent the car without a verified profile). EU driv. license not accepted for verification, I had to send in utility bills, passport and credit card photos.
Unfair Policy - You pay fines you can't contest If you get a parking ticket, the car owner pays it instantly and Getaround bills you months later. Because the owner paid it, you lose your legal right to contest the fine with the city. I was charged €131 for a fine I could have easily fought, but Getaround gave me zero opportunity to do so. They value the car owner's convenience over the renter's rights. Leaving the platform immediately.
Terrible! Not all information about the rental conditions and process are stated at the beginning. Then you first pay and then it tells you they need to verify your profile. And verification process is impossible to finish. Allowing payment without verified profile is unacceptable!

J'ai versé mon dépôt de garantie au début de la location 250€. Cela fait déjà deux mois que j'aurais dû le recevoir sur mon compte bancaire, mais je n'ai toujours rien perçu. Je contacte Getaround, mais leurs réponses sont très lentes (quand ils répondent) et ils m'assurent que tout est en ordre de leur côté, alors que mon compte ne reflète aucun remboursement. C'est du vol.
Do not use this app for any reason. It's 100% hassle guaranteed. It's completely time-consuming. The customer service team is unresponsive, and the car owners also seem confused by how the platform functions. Furthermore, I encountered numerous hidden fees throughout the process. I never successfully rented a car in this app.

Safety issues with many cars. No customer support outside of regular working hours, car owners (often bot messages) cannot help with technical issues. Cars are often old and not properly maintained, resulting in malfunctions/safety issues! Avoid!
dont rent from this Plattform i searches more than one hour for car because of wrong locaton of car provideed from them and after you return the car to the same parking charge you extra money why are you parked here
Terrible customer service. Cars fuel gauge didn't work, so I was charged twice for filling the tank. Provided plenty of evidence that I'd filled it up but they ignored it and let the owner steal from me. I was told to take it up with the owner, who never responded. Useless.
Great app! Rentals are easy and fast to book. Customer service is an absolute nightmare...if there is any issue they will just charge you the amount and you will never get any answer or response to questions regarding the problem... Been waiting for an answer to a claim for over a month, and until then, I will never book again through this app
I had several issues setting my account, then paying ... Getaround tried to charge me 750£ of deposit without my knowledge, only noticed it on bank statement. I finally managed to get the car. I'd plan enough time to allow for Internet and app bugs as well as location inaccuracy while picking up the car. I happened to leave some personal belonging by error after the rental ended, the customer service was appaling, ignoring 90% of my messages & offering no help. I will never it use again.
Service très décevant, les véhicules ne sont pas bien entretenus et le service après aucunement joignable par téléphone, les conversations par mails sont longues et les conditions de remise de la voiture louée ne sont pas avantageuses du tout. Bref très déçu, c'était prometteur. Il vaut mieux se tourner vers Turo (ex ouicar) PS : J'ai déjà contacté et apporté des précisions à Getaround à ce sujet.
j'ai loué plusieurs fois de Getaround et ça se passait plutôt pas mal jusqu'à la dernière fois où j'ai loué un véhicule et par mal chance on a essayé de voler en cassant la vitre dans la nuit. Getaround m'a facturé 450 euros pour les dommages qui sont sensés être couverts par l'assurance de base de Getaround, pourtant j'ai bien porté plainte à la police pour cette tentative de vol et j'ai envoyé plusieurs mails à GA et appeler sans retour... inadmissible de débiter 450€ sans mon accord!!! vol

Worst customer service! don't use this app. My friend had to pay a penalty fee because the owner of the car forgot to tell him about a fine. Reached to customer service, simply ignored the liability of the owner! 2/2 issues with this app. Car owners basically can claim anything and are liable for nothing. I don't feel safe renting cars from them.
