App used to be fine for setting up Chromecasts and such. now its not finding the wifi or code linked to my tv with seemingly terrible interface to find it. Mixed with that are a bunch of trash AI and surveillance features. absolutely garbage now, stop making every device and site worse with "updates"
trash, complete and utter trash. Worst app I have ever used. Totally inconsistent and unreliable. Please delete and make a new app, don't even bother trying to improve. Total waste of time.
EPIC FALL❗ I'm only on my home Wi-Fi with mobile data off... I cannot access certain settings for my home hub... I get a screen stating "these settings are not available on this network"... RIDICULOUS❗ who designed this? I have Internet access and there's no way for me to simply adjust the volume on my home hub... FML ❗

I have had nest mini speakers for years. they now will not work with google home app. keep switching off randomly. no other speakers or televisions co.nected to wifi drop out. nest minis have become unusable. this started happening a week ago. I've factory reset the minis on a few occasions and still no good
Many of the features that use to work on my devices, casting YouTube TV, casting Sirius XM, setting a timer, no longer respond. I have made no changes to the app but it has stopped responding. I've tried resetting and uninstalling the apps with no luck. All of the trouble shooting recommendations have not worked. Several of the setting controls that are referred to do not exist. I thought Google was a technology company? It is frustrating to have normal functions that have worked just stop.
Can you please fix this app, back then it work really well but now I constantly have issues with casting on my tv because my cromecast doesn't show up on my phone it says offline & I tried fixing it but could not fix it

I use this app for years with both a night time and a morning routine. after the rollout of Gemini both routine stopped working properly, the morning routine doesn't work at all. so some of the products I bought to use are now pretty much worthless. The nest hub does not understand any of my voice commands even when I rerecorded my voice so it would recognize it. whatever Google did, they broke this app. they need to fix it or refund everyone's money for the products they bought to work with it.
Google is greedy. never addressing criticism, making their apps worse, never admitting law violations. just worthless bullcrap.

Google, how do you make this app worse? I just opened it and I was shown a promo for a trial for longer camera history. I don't have a camera in there. I couldn't dismiss it. I hit back and was about to adjust volume on a Chromecast, but then it ANR'd. Diabolical.
I never signed up for Google printer I want it cancelled
07-05-2026 still no save to home screen option :( 17-03-2026 still the new automation is behind the old editor in terms of functionality. it lacks scene execution for linked lights. we can't save to home screen neither. this als still has been stripped from the prior editor. such a bad dev choice 02-03-2026 please bring back the "save to home" option in the old editor. this allows to make shortcuts run from home screen. which is super handy for automation because it's a one click solution
after years working, can't connect to my home anymore. internal speakers and things work but this app is useless.
presence sensing and automations are so trash, what is going on it used to be so simple

I think it's time I gave up on Google. It's just too flaky. Yesterday the new update for Google home and almost instantaneously my nest doorbell camera keeps disconnecting. I just can't trust it anymore so I'm going to look for replacement. not even bothering to reach out to support
No longer able to setup Chromecast 1st generation. (it is definitely not router problem but rather dropping support for that device)
absolute garbage app
just doesn't work right at all anymore. I've complained about almost everything not working. From accessing my speakers from work to automations not working. This became a huge failure when it switched to Gemini.

won't play the playlist I've made. plays everything else it can find that's even remotely similar named. I have done everything on your support page, I've even changed my playlist names. it used to work. now it's useless
The feature has become much much worse since the swap to Gemini. Basically it's turned my Google Nest smart speakers into bricks! Useless!
Google home you actually really bothering me you wake me up at 4:00 in the morning to send me a notification I'm now taking a sledgehammer to all my Google devices as well as I will delete the app don't bloody sent me a message I will ask for anything but you are bloody done and Google translate it's nothing but a disaster
EDIT:Yep still not updatin. Definitely not updatin since reading reviews. It seems to have gone downhill since the last bad update. Why can I no longer call home from the app to a Nest? Also, AI recognition for the doorbell is subpar. I'm not too sure why I'm paying a subscription for such garbage. The nests that's if it hears you (sensitivity is set high) takes ages to respond, that if it responds at all and when you give it an instruction quite often it will do something completely different.
Last update eliminated my Wi-Fi connections with my Lenovo lights, smart clock and my Govee temp sensor. Seriously not happy.
Good luck trying to get any device on this thing especially if you've changed the Wi-Fi.
Auto-downloaded on a non-google phone. Cannot be uninstalled. I actually hate the idea of anyone or anything having access to running anything in my home other than me. I do not want centralized, internet-based programs running things. I REALLY dislike the whole premise. From an accessibility perspective, a central location to be able to control things sounds helpful. But not if it is mandatoraly connected to the internet.
Absolutely sick to the back teeth of the likes of Microsoft and Google showing AI down our throats whether we want it or not. I don't want anything to do with "Gemini". I'd rather chuck my Home products in the bin. My trust in Google is already about as low as it can get, no way I'm upgrading.
I can't connect to my smart tv
I cannot believe I keep falling for Google's trickery. As usual, Google products start out nicely; quick, responsive, and reliable. Now, nearly 6 years later, commands take upward of 5 full seconds to turn off a light or answer a question. That's 5 full "Mississippi" counts, whereas before it could do things instantaneously. You go through all the articles, follow all the trouble shooting guides, and nothing improves the service. I cannot recommend this to anyone right now.

The Gemini upgrade is exceedingly slow. My devices have not changed. if I request my nest hub to turn off the lights it can take up to 30 seconds. And the performance of the app itself is also slow.

why did you remove quiet mode????? This thing parrots back at me every command I get it and all I want is for to turn on and off the lights or whatever I tell it to do and not say anything. your updates made a device that I used daily for years annoying and useless shady shifty company that sells all our data to the highest bidder I guess I should just be grateful that It even still works considering Google's track record of discontinuing everything garbage company

Now because the App no longer works on my desktop computer, I have to stop and use a mobile device to monitor my cameras. I find this rather frustrating and unacceptable because Google is such a big part of our daily lives. Rather than removing previous Google Nest tools, they should be expanded.

Bad support Google team gmail account recovery code problem...
I've changed my mind about this app. I previously found it relatively straightforward to manage rooms and devices but for the life of me I just cannot get the app to do what I want (add new rooms and add new devices to those rooms). I don't know what changes have done to the app but it's not working for me.

Delays on viewing and the length of time and sometime not be able to see it all. Google send me a refund of $5? my Google app itself stopped working Tuesday yesterday at 7:23 a.m. in the morning then I was sent the refund. trying to find out what went wrong. do I have Google nest or did it stopped??? I don't know what's going on I know I can't see a thing.
up until recently it was good and fast to load everything. now it always disconnects and I cant even get to the Home Settings. we also updated from Assistant to AI and it doesnt understand or fails to execute.
No option to cancel subscription. It is a loop without any actual selection to pick to cancel. When I select cancel subscription, it takes me to a box that has two options. One option is 'never mind' and the other option is to x out. There is no doubt that Google purposely traps you so that you cannot cancel subscription to Google Home advance.
the new Gemini assistant just doesn't work as well. I'm using it on my pixel 8pro. for the record I've fully embraced it in a lot of my work. my good morning routine cannot play my agenda or tasks. it seems any personal information is just blocked. I've lowered security, I'm using my paired pixel buds and I allow sensitive notifications on luck screen. I've wasted so much time trying to get this feature back..
google home works fine. stop pushing garbage gemini. no one wants this trash. gemini is unnecessary and useless. google assistant is just fine and works great. stop forcing gemini or else people will do their best to find and use other options.
