Absolutely ¥ü¢king garbage app. I've left countless reviews specifying the issues - nothing gets fixed. Can't wait to change jobs so I don't have to use this disaster of a time suck. Gloves are off. You suck.
I will add a positive review when some simple fixes are made. 1. Anything over 40 hrs is overtime. Not sure why 43.32 is straight pay... 2. When your "help" tab actually does something. it would be great if you fixed this!!

Management always blamed Gusto, and honestly, based on the pattern, it seemed believable. Any time there was even a minor holiday, you could pretty much guarantee your pay wouldn’t show up on time. Instead, it would get pushed back-sometimes all the way to the following week. That’s not norm
app promises to pay up to two days in advance, not happening!

Over the last week, I have to constantly delete cookies or restart my phone to login through the app. A pop-up box appears at the top of the login page telling me "something went wrong please try again later" or login credentials are incorrect " Please fix.
horrible banking app barely works and customer support is useless they either have no idea what they are doing or will just straight up ignore you I've been waiting on a call back for 2 weeks and Everytime I call no one picks up "Edit": your guys help center on the app doesn't work either I sent you guys an SMS again no answer and your AI help canter that ✌️works better✌️didn't solve a single issue
App often does not clock employees out despite manually clocking out and logging off. Call in customer service is terrible with employees not following up and surveys of professional etiquette not followed up on. I would leave my job because they use this app, but that's not possible.
Hate the app. I cannot see a detailed breakdown of deductions (does not show any employer/employee payroll deductions).
Attempted to close my account (April 1, 2026): - In-app AI support: Unable to help - In-app service team: Redirected unable to help - Email support: No response - Phone support (3x): Redirected, promised it would get resolved - In-app closure option: apparently was removed years ago. Account balance: $0.56. Zero Outstanding obligations: NONE No legitimate reason given for non-closure. Customer service is non-functional. Do not bank with Gusto.
Im editing this review because after 3 years this company is so inept that they can't fix the problems they were having with the app 3 years ago, do not use this app if you have a choice. This message is for all administrators, DO NOT DO IT. These people will waste your time and not fix ANY issue you have with payroll. I'd give this negative 5 stars if it was possible
This is the WORST payroll app I've ever encountered. They offer on demand pay through Clair but do NOT use it. They will decide without warning that you can't advance and after hours of back and forth emails will not provide a reason. This company should NEVER have access to anyone's money!! Incredibly unprofessional. It would be 0 stars if I could.
If you'd rather beat your skull into a brick wall than have access to your money, then by all means, use Gusto. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get your money from the app to ANYWHERE ELSE! It wouldn't give me the option to add in my actual bank info, and HAD to get a gusto card. Which I never received. Then had to wait until payday & spent THREE HOURS trying to figure out how to hopscotch it from the account in Gusto to my actual bank account. Absolutely garbage. I would never use this for my own business.

It's like pulling teeth without novacaine to get customer service issues resolved. They still misprint my name despite being corrected a dozen times.
Gusto is horrible!!!! the app doesn't function properly if you try to review previous pay stubs everything is correct in the list but it'll bring up completely different info once you click on one for example if I click on last week's pay it'll show the figures from a paycheck 3 weeks ago but the pay period dates matches the date you're actually looking for if you keep clicking on the different pay stub eventually you'll find the correct figures just with the wrong pay period date
For work Gusto is great and perfect, but please do not opt into their Clair advance program. it has screwed me over twice. I have never missed an advance payment cause its pulled directly from your pay but then I'll go pull advance and they deny me for repayment issues which again is impossible because its pulled from you pay. So yet again I'm with a large portion of my paycheck due to Clairs horrible advance system.
it worked fine until I did my taxes. now it won't let me link another account, it won't let me open a spending account or transfer my money anywhere. it won't let me get my money and the support people keep saying 'link another account'. They can't understand IT WONT LET ME! Very frustrating
How about continuing to let me know when my next pay date is. You stopped letting me know about that and it's making me nervous. Please let me know when my next pay day is on the app, leave it there, and keep letting me know about the pay days. Don't take that notification off again.
sells your data by default. I have to use this app for work and you sell my freaking data? reply: Yes, you do. as soon as I open the app I have to set my cookie preferences and I have to opt out of you selling my data.
can't retrieve code in authenticator app
broken app that takes your money and doesn't give it to employees in a timely or accurate manner. doesn't show accurate information in the pay period info. worst experience with an app.
horrible optimization
I had a job that uses this app I wasn't at the job long I don't even remember but I guess at some point I must've elected to get paid thru you so I opened an account ....I never used it never got paid more than once if that thru it anyway fast forward 2-3 years my current job uses this app now small business 7-8 of us in ofc at most I tried to use the feature to open an account I was told nothing could be done bc the acct was closed on your end no activity in acct at all but I'm forever punished
please update app I use this for all of my w-2s for the last 7 years and now I'm unable to use this app I have to log in and use the web browser thank God that works but it will not get past the loading screen as soon as you open the app please fix

worst online banking in the world almost makes me wanna quick my job so I don't have to deal with this bank. any holiday or weekend rest asure you won't be paid on time. gusto really sucks.
requiring logging back in every single time I swap tabs is insane. add in the fact that the servers frequently are unresponsive. worst payroll app I have used to date.
Awful. No FSA field for mileage and their team keeps messing up the reimbursement no matter what documentation I provide! I never thought I'd say, "Wex is better!" but it is about this.
this app sucks. first it doesn't show me and many of my cowers our estimated pay amount and second, I don't know if it's the bookkeeper or the app but our checks have had to been physically given to us to have to cash later or not until a week later all because either the book keeper can't learn how to use it or the app just sucks that's much
It is so slow, so plan ahead when punching in. And you have to have a code texted to you every time you log in. So even more time taken punching in and out. I hate that my company picked this.

Messed up my w2. It has taken hours to fix and it's still not fixed
I've used this app at 3 different jobs with no problems but unfortunately now every time I log in it asks for a 6 digit code from my authenticator. Not sure what authenticator its referring too and I can't talk to support unless I log in but can't log in with out this 6 digit code that I know nothing about. Maybe someone can explain this to me
The pay check estimate doesn't show until my check has already been deposited into my account. That feature is useless. Why offer the option of showing an estimate if you can't see it u til after your funds has already be deposited?
the on demand clair advance won't work over a little discrepancy of an hour delay in my pay, thus making it harder for me to get important stuff done! this is outrageous and it wasn't my fault I was paid late! the on demand clair people should hold up for at least a good hour if not a day just for the system to catch up! misrepresented by far and ready to contact superiors of clair on demand pay! They still at the moment will not cooperate when this situation was not my fault it was gusto's!
I can never log in I have to use the browser. This app is not helpful at all. This app is the absolute worst and I hate that my company use it. Customer service is never helpful and nothing in the gusto system is user friendly. I want to change jobs because of this horrible horrible system. I would never tell anyone to use this system. 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
Lazy app for Lazy buisnesses. Do better.
Does not reliably work. I have often clocked out and received an email the next day saying I never clocked out, even when I double or triple checked that I've clocked out.. super irritating.
Pay to see my paystub In order to see my paystub. I had to download Adobe and pay a subscription fee in order to see my paystub. When I attempted to download and declined to pay. I received multiple unwanted notifications on my phone, 15 in about 10 minutes to continue to my download. nope nope nope.
Customer service is pathetic. Tried to get an advance several days after paying off all balances due (nothing late) and then they denied me back of "late payments" that weren't late. When I tried to get help from Customer Service was told all evaluations are "final" and cannot be appealed, even if their own system shows I paid in full on time.
what an absolute downgrade from 2 weeks ago with your payroll reports. could not be much worse. was all very straight forward and now it's all over the place. pathetic
Glitchy
I had the contractor only plan. they failed to do the state payroll tax report to my state quarterly which I ended up getting penalized by fees/fines from my state. I was paying $35 a month for nothing to gusto. As an LLC company State of Virginia requires even if no payroll taxes are taken the VA 5 form must be done quarterly with zero listed. Purchased Gusto as my payroll provider for contractor pay if I paid any contractor. Gusto did not disclose they wouldn't do the forms.

Do not use for small business, you will go broke fast. They only deal with one workers comp company and that company will drop you for any slight reason, leaving you with a tough battle of integrations. Miss classified my stash causing extra funding to be taken out of both insurance and taxes. Sold us over priced medical and dental, once we decided to not renew, they never told the insurance company and they kept talking premiums out for almost a year. Wont assist in helping get refunded.
