I have never gotten a job with Handshake. There are a lot of employers on this app looking to waste peoples' time. It can sometimes take upwards of 30 minutes to a few hours applying for jobs for each posting, and it has never been fruitful for me. All of that time spent on applications is exhausting, energy draining and time consuming, and it is all unpaid. Despite my impressive work experience and educational background, many and most of my applications get rejected quickly.
why india country mobile code is not listed for verification
I use this on desktop, but it applies fully. The AI makes the system unusable. Searching for one thing gives you an entire host of unrelated jobs that the ai "justifies" by saying that the same skills are used. Never mind the certifications required that take years to get: you have experience "communicating effectively" and "coordinating with others", so you are fully capable of being a lead paramedic. Right.

I'm not sure what, if any, screening jobs go through on this site, but every single "employer" that has contacted me regarding an application has been a job scam. The jobs and employers get taken down, but it's incredibly frustrating that EVERY response has been a job scam.
Too manny fake postings, Scams along with recruiters reaching out via messaging, but you never get to speak with them.

This platform is not that good. it's actively preventing me from applying for jobs. I need to use my resume to apply, however my resume has to be approved by the university that I attend. if the resume uploaded it's not approved yet, then the job application gets cancelled. I'm a grown man, I can manage my own resume and application, I don't need to be micromanaged I lose out on potential opportunities, because the university takes forever to approve my resume.

Constant bugs, the app no longer works on my phone. Crashes on every boot including after uninstalling.
The app seems to have a bug because every time I try verifying, it exits the app and sends a message saying it has a bug and needs to be fixed.
Searching by location is horrible. There's so many automated "recruiters" in your inbox talking about: hi [name], we thought you'd be the perfect fit for [job position that is NOT related to you AT ALL]". sometimes these bots mess up and leave the brackets there instead of your info. Any other job search app is better.

Working for Handshake AI's video program is a pure 30-day hostage situation. "Organization" is a myth here. No one can agree on what files go in what folders (or under what carpets). Are workshops billable? Shake a Magic 8-Ball, because leadership has not a clue! Rules constantly change daily, while hundreds of us scream the exact same questions into the void. Why no answers? Nobody knows anything. Jon Snow knows substantially more than any manager here. Avoid this chaotic circus completely!!
Can not search jobs only in my area, filters do not work. The help on handshake does not exist. Searches include every job that does not match searches.
low effort job board where you apply for hundreds of jobs, get one interview, and an email telling you they are moving on to consider other options (AI replaced you and the job posting is fake).

SCAMS. I am a student at Indiana State University and tried using this app for months to get an internship in my field (data analysis). No companies replied to me that weren't scams. I've been getting job titles and company names from Handshake and finding the individual company websites rather than applying on Handshake to avoid scams. And guess what I found? MOST HANDSHAKE JOBS ARE SCAMS. Whether the job was completely made up or real with a different description, nothing on there was true.

Ad offered me to apply for remote video editing work but what I got was another job search app instead. False advertising. I'm a professional. I don't have time to waste.
This app is extremely limited to specific regions and universities. If your institution isn’t supported, you can’t even complete signup, making it unusable for many international users

You are able to set the job type and location preferences but it will ignore it and push what employers paid to boost.

Every time I apply, there's no response. What a joke and it sucks. I'm giving it a bad review if this keeps up.

Too many unpaid internships, and paid internships outside of the state I live in, too many AI jobs that do not look like legitimate jobs and they are outside the state I live in and not enough fully remote positions in various fields.

I apply and apply few responses
There's seemingly no way to adjust the distance of jobs you get recommended despite the ability to list preferred locations on your profile so I always get notifs about onsite jobs on the opposite side of the country even though I don't plan on leaving the state. The amount of AI related job listings and constant recruiter messages/emails asking if you would be interested in training Handshake's AI is really obnoxious and it seems like there's no way to block or filter out these offers either.
My main issue is that when I filter jobs (when the filter actually works) It has my major greyed out and when I try to fix that in my profile settings it says that I do have that major selected, yet the job says I don't. my next complaint is that almost all of the jobs I have to apply externally, I don't like that, I could just use indeed because it does the same thing. I have not gotten a single response from any of the jobs I've applied to.
Despite updating my location preferences in both the app and desktop site, I still do not get any job notifications in my selected area.
