Hard to express how much I hate Hatch now. Went from being the best purchase to the worst. First hatch was fantastic, reliable. Now most stuff is blocked by paywall, making it an cost hundreds of dollars. Reviewing now because the new hatch has made app is useless without being on same wifi as the machine (think travel, wifi issues, or other things). Other one is good with a simple Bluetooth. Pay more and get less from the money grubbers. Edited: The app should be able wot connect w/o wifi.

None of the sleep sounds stay on, the app constantly loses connection to the device and the stories cut in and out constantly. The device is already expensive and having to pay a monthly subscription on top of it not working half the time is so frustrating.
I think it's very clear they put more effort and documentation for iOS users instead of Android. The ability to do anything on this app is sub par at best and nothing matches their documentation for any procedure you might need to do. It's a garbage user experience at best.
this app sucks. why do you need a subscription to access everything? buyer beware. spend $80 to subscribe to another subscription. no thanks
It is difficult to conceive a product this bad made it to the market. The Hatch is by far my most hated possession. It turns on and off randomly, loses connection, and simply does not work smoothly. The app is cluttered and unintuitive. The problem is that its features are genuinely useful. But using this app while trying to calm a baby is painful. Instead of making the process easier, it somehow becomes its own issue that demands attention away from the fussy baby, which defeats it's purpose.
It randomly turns on light and sound throughout the night and wakes the baby up. The app interface sucks and doesn't let you disable it.
This app is broken. very disappointed.
I can never consistently connect to my device. it's infuriating to have to try multiple times, especially when I'm juggling a crying baby.
Atrocious functionality for such an expensive device WITH a paid subscription. My device is usually unresponsive from the app.
WARNING! EXHAUSTED MOTHER! This is an absolutely stupid product. It is a light with no buttons so you need an app. The app wants you to subscribe to pay more money for stupid sounds and your wifi data. Do not buy!
Aweful product and app. You pay so much money for an item that is essentially a worse version of a speaker. It has to be plugged into the wall to function so it's not portable between rooms, it has to be connected to wifi to function so if your internet goes out then it's essentiall a brick, you only get 15 sounds to play without signing up for a monthly subscription, and the app doesn't stay connected so it has to reconnect every time you open it and it takes you back to your list of devices.
the app won't even open for me. it keeps shutting down and when it does work and I go to select my hatch then that won't load! can't access anything.

The cue not transitioning to unwind is annoying to the point that I turned the cue off. The UX for setting routines is cumbersome. It is way too difficult to just play something with lights e.g. what if I just want to do a calm meditation session during the middle of the day? Moved to a 1. If you don't subscribe you only get alarms, white noise, and a couple of routines like ASMR (creepy whisper voice) or meditations (I don't always need).
I really wish I hadn't introduced my daughter to these songs. the app is absolutely useless it glitches so much especially in android. it's constantly disconnecting from the device and I have to restart the app, or it just shows nothing even when it's actually playing something on the hatch.
hatch rest2 won't stay connected no matter what I try with chatbot (4 hours today). do not buy
App is nearly useless. Connectivity issues are constant, and that's a huge miss when a product like this depends on a stable connection. Plenty of other devices have no problem connecting to our wifi. Hatch should be embarrassed of themselves until further notice.
this update ruined everything
It's 1:52 AM and the app let me know I need to update it. the one sound that I actually like has either been removed or it's bugging. I'm over this thing. Now I realize it's not only an overpriced alarm clock, but you have to pay for the app. The $12.99 return fee seems like a drop in the bucket at this point. The selection of sounds and colors are pathetic for the cost of the alarm and app fee. The meditations and weird random people talking are bad. The bag is on me.3/19/26-MY ALARMS ARE GONE
I made an entire schedule in Hatch App, but it disappeared in the app/home page. I did a hard reset on the app and the clock, i updated the system, and the home page is still blank. The clock still works.
I love the Hatch it's self, however the app is horrible. It seems every few weeks the app fails and I can't change or update anything. I spend hours trouble shooting and then they make a correction in the code they just update. ya it fixed it for about three weeks or I until the next updates. As much as I love the idea of this I'm going to seek a refund. At this point it is causing more stress then helping it
5 stars for application, minus 4 for an expensive alarm clock whose multitude of options cost 50/year. Good enough to keep using unless I find a better way before the return window is closed. I hate the thanks for purchasing our Product, now pay us indefinitely for a decent experience with it. Lol.
This app is very frustrating to use. You can't select White Noise, the most basic sleep sound. The app volume control doesn't work. Total garbage.
The app constantly says network error and takes forever to load. it's also not easy to find different sounds nor change the volume or light. I love hatch and recommend it to everyone, but the app is trash
My Rest 2nd gen worked well for 3 months. I have tried everything to fix it: cycle reset, factory reset, ... The hatch is 10-15 yards away of the router (1Gb fiber) It's really frustrating. Today, on her 1st nap, it turned off 6 times between 8:50 am and 9:10 am (20 min) I'm very disappointed!!!!!

deregistration should be app native. Registration shouldn't be 10 minutes. Be candid about what you are doing if you are doing firmware upgrades.
schedule tab wouldn't stop loading after several attempts so I couldn't stop it from waking my baby
1. why does it need internet connection to work? shouldn't wifi or Bluetooth be enough? 2. why does a white noise machine need its own app? yes, it's just a speaker, but why isn't there a white noise on and off button? 3. why is there a subscription to different sounds? I already have the device, I should be able to use it for the intended purpose.
This app has a lot of potential but has gotten extremely glitchy. It seems to struggle to synchronize with the device efficiently, and will time out constantly, saying it is "not connected" when 20 other devices in a home are connected just fine. It constantly tries and fails to update with no explanation. Changing a schedule is very tedious because it refuses to allow temporary overlap even if you're in the middle of drafting a larger change, like working up to daylight savings time.
Doesn't work anymore. Connecting to the Hatch causes the app for crash. The same device works fine from my iPad, so it's definitely a problem with their Android app.
After a month of use it will now only let us use the Brown Noise setting. Have reset the app and Rest but each time we try to save White Noise (or any other sound) it just saves it as Brown Noise. Don't waste your money, this is a rip off product from a rip off company. EDIT: Where do I update the app? Do I have to reinstall the app? How would I have known this unless I had grabbed your attention with a negative review, and why didn't your useless AI tech tell me that in the first place?
horrible to navigate. app never loads a whole page completely. super laggy. NOT USER FRIENDLY. No search options. Limited alarm options. im also super sick of how hard the app is trying to promote all the drag queens screeching alarms. no diversity in sounds or alarms.

all of a sudden stopped working and connecting. tried resetting router, restore. even deregistered device and now no sound or light comes on even though app shows it. very frustrated. spent over 3 hours
I have not been able to set favorites on the app on anything outside of 7 sounds in this app. Everytime I try to set one it defaults to the first option "Pink Noise" which is soft white noise basically. Contacted support and they told me to wait for an update. Ridiculous to pay $100 for a product that has a broken app.
Every time I change the sound to thunderstorm it defaults to brown noise. Fix the problem
Latest update does not let me change the sound for my sleep routine or my alarm. It's set to a random sound despite me picking specific ones. What is the point of the library of options if I cant use them. Terrible app interface and not user friendly.

So many bugs and connection issues. You'd think the experience would be better for a nearly $200 alarm clock. There's some new bug that's not even letting me change the sound I want for the alarm, and after restarting and uninstalling and everything it's still not letting me select anything but the "meditative flute" sound. The options are already extremely limited because I refuse to pay a monthly subscription on top of the alarm. But now I don't even have access to the few options I did have!
The app is broken and won't let me select a sound for my alarm. I went through troubleshooting process on their website, which resulted in their chatbot submitting a support ticket. Long story short, after more time-consuming troubleshooting they basically said they already knew about the problem and I should wait for a new update. This is really bad when I bought this alarm clock to, you know, USE ON A NIGHTLY BASIS. Stop rolling out pointless "premium" features and make your app work instead.
Ive been having this issue for about 3 days now. When i go to save an alarm with a sound or music, it only lets me pick from the 5 or so suggested alarm sounds. Even if i click a different one, it will default save the SAME sound every time, no matter what I press!!! ADDITIONALLY, it changed ALLLLL of my saved alarms I routinely use to the SAME alarm sound, so now ive lost all those alarm sounds that are no longer able to be selected on the library menu. this app is garbage
