I cancelled my HBO subscription beceause of the low-grade and defective experience with the HBO App. Spending time troubleshooting the app and googling to find countless other users with the same issues(Subtitles for other languages wont load for example) is not what i call a good streaming experience. 1 Star beceause the content was nice, but this was overshadowed by the inadequate App experience.

When resuming or just fast forwarding or skipping in Intro The Stream will freeze and there's no way to resume it anywhere.

HBO Max is not working on my Samsung tv since today. Only the sound is streaming, but no picture, just black screen

You get the language and broadcasts of the country you're connected to. That's strange. There are no Turkish subtitles, for example. I guess that's the rule in the country you're visiting
terrible experience no good series's bad movies mostly kids shows and animation good horror selection but no good movies to enjoy this is why Netflix is better. Doesn't even have House Dexter or any enjoyable series's

A disgrace, this new version is a step BACK compared to the previous one! Very bad sub titles (black boxes), chaotic app UI experience. Very bad. There is also no season/episode indicator when watching a particular episode and casting to TV. No option to skip the credits / text at the end of an episode (when casting) etc. [Edit 2026: it still sucks. Now it destabilizes my phone's behavior. Regular standard Android...]
FIVE ADVERTS HALFWAY THROUGH AN EPISODE?! Insanely aggressive advertising both before and during each episode. Ridiculous. You are just begging for people to stream elsewhere.

The app keeps crashing all of a sudden. I can't open it for the last 15 minutes or so. I just made internet speed test for my home internet and 770mbps download, and 690mbps upload, 4ms unloaded and 10ms loaded latency. Definetly nothing is wrong with my home internet. I wonder if it has anything to do with my subscription which is 3euros per month 🤔
Have this for 2 days now. It crashes on my TV every 1.5 episodes and often severely drops in quality getting all pixely. 1st month and also last month of this service.

app werkt prima. maar ik kreeg zojuist een mail dat ik 20% méér ga betalen. Een prijsverhoging van 20% is absurd. Ik gebruik hbo nauwelijks. dus de paar euro die ze maandelijks van mij ontvangen waren makkelijk verdiend. vind ik geen probleem. maar 20% meer!? KOEKOEK! ik ga mij abbonement zeker heroverwegen.
First they cancelled Eurosport player just so we had to double the amount we were paying before if we wanted to watch live cycling without ads. Now they introduced ads to an already overpriced service. Very greedy and disgusting. Cancelled my subscription and never coming back.
why are you so racist and only subtitle what's spoken in English?
A serious, balanced, and Google Play policy compliant review: HBO Max once readily available app now only forces to subscribe to continue watching series through e.g Prime video; then you'll pay for adverts with your subscription; then you'll be given the option to subscribe more to remove ~some adverts, then you'll get double adverts. Prime Video, SkyShowtime, HBO Max, Netflix, Videoland... They're all at it... AI is watching your habits. Adverts are a waste of time, and money to the user!! 👍
Content is great but the app is broken for me for 6 days...
FIX YOU APP ON ANDROID It started with just not being able to watch friends but now I can't watch ANYTHING and it's been a week. I tried everything but it just keep loading...

i don't see reason why I pay for subscription and I get 8 ads in old movies, so annoying not recommended, there's only some old movies that nobody want to watch, the only good movie is the lord of the rings.

fastforward rewinding blocks the stream. closing forcefully doesnt resolve it / cannot continue the stream. very frustrated, cant recommend.
Have standard plus sport subscription. Get an anoying unskippable ad everytime I start something related to the tour de France. Also live streaming started at a 4min delay...

good content, but the app is to dark. i have a fold 4 and on both my displays. the app is as bright the minimum of what netflix and amazon prime have and no way to get it brighter.
Totally useless, no other localisations options then just one in the country you are in right now.
