Confusing/buggy, e.g. map often displays blank and needs zoom in/out to render, search of Derby WA lands 30km East of it, web page says any search POIs not found are downloaded, but aren't, e.g. search didn't find Melbourne Airport POI a few days ago, and still doesn't...
Trying to use this app and I've never seen anything so hard to navigate. Trying to use the Android version which I found out later that it has a lot of issues. I wish I could have my money back. If you have a android, avoid this app.

Huge waist of money. Give it a miss
App crashed and will not open. Real helpful when your in the middle of nowhere. Definitely have a backup off-line map option.

A waste of money. Bought it months ago and still can't plan routes while out and about. There has to be better and easier options out there.
Tried to download more maps, the app went into a loop of trying to download this map every time I opened the app. Client support just uninstall and in stall again🤨 so now I have a none functioning app as the reinstall wont link lost my waypoints and wants payments for anything. For the price, TOO much hard work.
Had the old app with added rooftops on it, which was fantastic. Subscription expired and went to renew, but the old 4wd app is no longer available. Okay, no problems. I'll buy the new one. The new app is actually just a licence key to use in memory maps app which is a terrible layout, and i cant resubscribe and download my rooftop maps onto it either. Shame on you hema, an absolute disgrace. I have have now wasted $100 on a memory maps app I didn't want, loaded with hema maps that are useless.
I can not update map style to satillite. I have used this app in the past, and it has been useful for me to create routes over the satillite layer. This does not appear to be an option anymore. I would like my money back.

The good: Memory Map. Excellent app that's not made by hema so it's light weight and works. The bad: these are just scans of their paper maps. They have rubbish resolution when compared to hemas own 4x4 explorer app. That app is also half the price. Oh but even though they still sell it, it doesn't work since they 'lost control of the app maker'. You want bread crumbs? Buy a loaf of bread, it's better
Total junk, it's about 10 years out of date for WA. Complete waste of money. Seriously give me my 99 bucks back or the next time I see a hema car in WA I'm gunna run it off the road.
Glitchy, poor functionality. Poor map resolution and scale. Overpriced.
This app is absolutely not worth the price. It feels like someone scanned some old school maps and uploaded it. Don't buy.

DO NOT BUY MAPS THROUGH THIS APP. BUY maps through memory maps so you can open these maps on all devices. This locks map licences to your phone only. Save your money, it's not worth the money to have standard paper maps on your phone
Rubbish. The original Hema Explorer app was fantastic before they stopped supporting it. Don't waste your money

$100 for an App that uses another App with requires additional purchasing. Hema, you should be ashamed. For an Australian company, I expected more.. Only tracks line of site, not actual roads travelled. Waste of money..

So hard to use defanly easier apps that don't cost as uch I have both Explorer and the 4x4 and paid $150 for both apps thinking one would be easier than the other but both are so hard to work . I would recommend this to the ex wife but not any one I like absolutely rubbish
worked well on my android phone over several years, but the app will not open on my new android tablet saying there is a bug. my map purchases wasted as only available on my small mobile phone.. Hema please fix this bug. Addendum ... since tried Avenza maps. individual Hema maps can be purchased. some other maps free. Most importantly, it works well.
Seems very clunky compared to the Hema7 I had previously The icon for the moving vehicle is a pain You cannot auto centre the moving icon
Most of the time I find this map app to be useless as it only partially opens when needed when being used in areas without internet access.
