Time to update my review! I've been using the app since at least 2020, and it's had its ups and downs but its most recent down has me giving it one last chance before I give up on it entirely. I hadn't used it in a few months because it kept slipping my mind, but I knew I had a balance close to $20 (the minimum withdrawal amount) and all I needed was one more use to withdraw. Well, lo and behold, there are now maintenance fees that have, coincidentally, drained my account. Last chance, guys.
EDIT...no reason any app should charge a service fee when it's such a terrible app with less and less "qualified purchases". DO NOT USE! Due to health issues in my family, I did not do much shopping for 6 months, and I had nothing that qualified, so I was charged a service fee. Yesterday, out of over $400 I purchased, only 2 things qualified. I have used Ibotta since 2013. It used to be good, but not any more. Too many items do not scan properly or don't qualify. I do not recommend this app.

Some stores you have to choose the offers before you shop so when you pay it links automatically which sounds great but if you purchase something you didnt clip and find it later...oh well, you don't get that deal. Variety of items are not good. Ill be deleting it now!

Users beware - ibotta take your earning EVERY 30 DAYS even though you use Ibotta. Im not going to use this app anymore.
They pulled the offer as I was submitting a receipt. Used to be a good app, but now can't be trusted.
this app is terrible. they charge you 3.99 if you are "inactive" but they wont let you redeem your money unless you have over $20. their deals have become weak. uninstalling this. fetch is a way better app.

they deleted mine and my wife's account for no reason.
Ibotta has the worst customer service as well as function of gift cards. I had met all the requirements and yet it always says error when I contacted customer service they said I breached section 17 if their terms of service although I am unsure what I did wrong when I literally bought a 20 dollar bottle of zytrec just for a offer.
worst app in history and I will never use it again. if I could give it zero stars I would. I was supposed to get $54 in rebates on my receipt but instead they say they can't read it!! AND IT IS A PHYSICAL RECEIPT!!!!!!! it's being deleted and everyone I talk to I will recommend they don't use it because the receipts won't be read anyway.
will not pay out tells me something went wrong. what is wrong is Ibotta is a scam. I bought the items and you won't cash out
I don't like that I can only select about 5 deals at a time before I get an error message that I have to wait a while before selecting more. Nobody has time for that nonesense.
I tried to enter my birthdate on the app on my phone but I dislike having to tap on the calendar 500 times to enter it. I did it once but it didn't lock in the correct date and took me back to today's date. Very, very frustrating. Can someone advise me, please?
I have poor vision and bright screens hurt. whenever I try to view a gift card number I have bought the devs thought it would be funny to force the screen to max brightness and disable my ability to adjust my phone's brightness slider. 1 star until this 'feature' is fixed.
It used to be great until it started cheating you out of earnings even though the product scanned actually matches an offer according to the app. It's hard to match products to begin with, just to have them tell you the stuff you bought is ineligible for cash back when the app's scanner says otherwise. I don't think I'll be able to cash out during the next 3 years at this rate.
Keeps crashing, can't even log in
They make it impossible to earn money.It used to be effortlessly shop, submit your receipts. Now, they want you to jump through tons of hoops just to collect five cents. I'm sticking with Fetch, atleast with it. you just submit receipt. There's no trying to find offers. This app is nonsense. if you buy it you buy it. Absolutely Junk.

updated: wow as if it wasn't bad enough, now grocery stores are being removed, this is ridiculous and no longer worth it
They used to be good, but now they want you to spend more money instead of save money. If they gave you money and find out that it wasn't "eligible", they will claw it back out of your account. You cannot get a savings discount at Walmart and with Ibotta. They don't want you to have money.

This app used to be super helpful now the products have really changed. Not all of us like organic products. I hardly use it since the update it is very leggy as well. It doesn't load. I uninstalled and reinstalled, I haven't. Update as of 4.21.2026: app is super glitch. I open it and it gives me an Error. it says is connection, but all our devices are running at 100%. is the app I tried unistalling an opening it and it still gives me an error.At the store gives the same Error. :(
They charged a maintenance fee, taking what little I had built up. I barely did anything with this app because of how brand specific it is. Now that they take your points for maintenance fees, for any reason, was enough for me to delete my account and this app.
this is the second time that I have left the ibbotta program. it is just too difficult to use, having to prove everything before and after you shop with receipts and UPC codes. then I just received a withdrawal for not using it enough. enough already . no more. I like Fetch. withdrawing and leaving for good.

Rarely get cash back even when I've selected deals that I purchased. The app is set up in a way that it takes a 7 step process to ask for them to review missing cash back. There's no way they would make it difficult to ask for the cash back you earned so you would be less inclined to follow through...would they? I'm going to get my account to the least amount needed to cash out the first time and I'm out. this is a massive waste of time unless you're willing to buy a ton of things you don't need
I can't login
wow this app keeps getting worse. Been waiting over 72 hours for an in-store purchase at Safeway and all it says is pending. There no longer is an option to send a ticket for a specific transaction and A.I. chat only gives option for deals missing not the entire teabsaction still pending. Was counting on this to get to and from work. Update: Attempted to send ticket using chatbot and like the previous attempts it asks for receipt and then just opens the help page. Selecting submit resumes chat.
It used to be a good app. Now you're lucky if you get $.05 per transaction.
I've been using this app almost daily without issue for YEARS, and this past month has me so frustrated that I'm most likely going to close my account. I have had several incidents where I submit a valid receipt, then have to go back and individually scan the baroda of each item, and THEN even after that, the app rescinds approval. Sometimes it takes 3 tries to receive a .05 cent reward and it's to the point where it's not worth the effort.

they took away my account. this is what happens when you link your shopping app to this one IG. I mean I don't care about the app it's like whatever. you can act like Amazon if you want to but you take away my *money*!
The rules get changed frequent (which is fine) but there's no warning until they return your cash back for offers and items that you have purchased but you can't returnfor various reasons. I still use it for now and most of the time it's good. sometimes u have to fight for your cash back. I used to love the app but it's getting harder and harder to maintain.
This was previously a go to receipt app. Unfortunately unless you spend money for big brand name products or buy in bulk, you do not get anything back. Would love to see a Target account link ability for online purchases
the app constantly wants me to turn on notifications..NO.. also the advertising claims all your purchases make money..that's a lie. only what they tell you qualifies. there's much better apps out there to get some cash back than this. They make you buy 2 of things. some people don't need 2 of anything..and if you miss something. you can't resubmit..such BS
It's a pretty decent app, but there are some things that can be improved. The UI is not entirely user friendly. Some stores won't let you upload a receipt without being a store-card holder/member. Plus the fact you have to select a store and then search for a product in the app and select it before you scan a receipt.... why in the world is that not automated!? The payout is decent and it's kinda like trading in the coupons you used for cash.
Update 4/27/26. The app has been working great since the last issue I had several years ago. Now all of a sudden it won't allow me to log into my account. I have uninstall and reinstall the app and it's still telling me there's a problem with my login. It says the team is working on it, but it's been saying that for over a week now. I have receipts that I need to add that will be denied if it's more than a week. This is not fair plus I have money in my account.
I've been a long time user and recently upgraded my phone and logged out of the app. Now I tried logging into my new phone and I'm getting a message "There was a problem our team is looking into it. I emailed customer service my concern and someone responded that I asked for my account to be deactivated. I told them why would I do that when I have money on my account. They advised me to make another account which it's not letting me.I sent another email with no response. I want my money!
I used to love this app, but Ive had multiple issues lately with my rebates not populating, Ill get credit for one but not two when I bought two AND scanned the bar codes. The receipt will read something that the AI (that apparently runs the app) doesnt translate to the correct item(s) and my rebate is denied, or somehow it comes back as "this is the wrong store." Ive appealed FOUR times just this week for items I wasnt credited for. So disappointing.
You have to pick from their list of items before you purchase them or you get nothing. also, the options they give are name brand, and usually more expensive than the store brand even after the cash back. All other "money for receipt" options accept any receipt and give you credit for them.
had this app for years..suddenly I cannot withdraw any money..wants me to confirm my phone number and then when I do it says it cannot send me a code. it's the same number I have had for years. it manages to send me worthless notifications but not a code to withdraw my earnings.
won't let me link any of my loyalty cards keep saying retry app error days in a row and I can't upload the receipt because the store that I went to doesn't do the uploaded receipts but I can link the account but won't let me g r r
