terrible app, takes ages for the app to open and doesn't have the same features as desktop, needs a lot of development and improve speed
new version sucks and you no longer have the option to go back to the older version.
13 years later, they still confound desktop vs mobile features, functions, compatibilities and don't listen to customers AT ALL. Took SIX (6) hours of support to set up payments, all of which were their issues. Please train your "tier 1 support"! The muzak on hold even sucks.

Terrible app, I was encouraged to change as they were doing it anyway from Quickbooks self employed, can't even log in and the help centre can't tell me how either. They've ruined a perfectly good system.

qb app is broken. try to create new estimate. add customer. add first line item. flips out about GST and force closes. always something with this pos. but hey at least AI is very quick at sorting transactions incorrectly. who asked for this?

The old phone version worked smoother and cleaner than this new upgrade. Seems like someone had nothing to do with their time at work and decided to fix what wasn't broken and now they've broke it. I can't do estimates or invoices under existing customers because I keep getting error messages. Uninstalled twice and still no luck. Can I go back to the old version? 5/2/26 & THIS APP IS STILL GARBAGE. DO ANYONE HERE HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE APP? I HATE THIS APP WITH A PASSION. PHONEVERSION IS GLITCHY

Getting more and more frustrated. Maybe this way I might be able to resolve my issue! this calendar year, I'm being double charged. £11.99 & £18.99. Quickbooks can't help, as I subscribe through Google Play. I don't know which is correct. Cancelled both independently, and now it looks like my account will be suspended as of tomorrow. WHAT A JOKE!
There are not many things in this world that I have more discontent for than this app. Super buggy and it rarely works as designed (installed and using on one of the world's fastest and most powerful smartphones). When it does work, they make sure to disrupt workflow by advertising some other product they offer in the most annoying popup format, completely covering your entire screen. Before making the jump to QB's, do me a favor and scroll through their reviews.
Atrocious money-leeching practices. Exactly what I feared the MTD transition would lead to when the government said they'd outsource the software to third parties. QuickBooks makes it very hard to import your excel or pdf invoices, instead pushing you to use their own invoice system. But they've locked the expenses side of invoicing to the higher priced subscriptions which is just shameful. I have found much more user-friendly alternatives. Check out Tax Heaven and Vital Tax among others.
The app is so slow it's essentially useless. Taking 10-15 minutes to load company data, then I'll try to pull of a customer it will only show a random selection of their invoices, not even the latest one. Every time I try to use this app, I end up frustrated and having to pull out my laptop to get the actual data
Can't do what I need to do in the app such as run payroll. Loads slowly, clunky layout.

I am leaving this review based on a very serious account security incident involving my QuickBooks Checking / Green Dot account. After a large customer deposit was made into my account, I contacted support regarding the hold and account access. During the process, I experienced what I believe was an account takeover, followed by an unauthorized Cash App transaction for $4,999. Compared to Self Employed, this app is horrendously difficult to navigate. It's like I've switched to something monumentally different and vastly inferior. Self employed was great, so why couldn't you just add MTD integration to it? This is truly awful and I won't be staying. You've lost a long standing customer.
It's like roblox game. Everything in their ecosystem. You can't pay per mile, only per hour. Their system doesn't recognize your custom invoices. You can't pay to 401K easily if it's not one of their partners. For milage, I mean that some people are need to be paid for miles like truckers, the payroll system doesn't allow that in any way. This is extremely unprofessional, unethical and discriminatory for major payroll/accounting software in the country to have no options for truckers.
app was great until they updated it. I lost so much time trying to do the simple functions. some data isn't accessible on the app for some odd reason. this app has become over complicated i would stay clear off it not worth paying for this app anymore
Absolutely awful app. I subscribed to the 1.99 for 6 months but whenever I try to log in to the app (on my tablet and phone I may add) it keeps me stuck in a permanent loop of choose payment of monthly payments of 19. 99 I literally cant get out of i, I've tried unistalling, reinstalling, clearing the cache, clearing the storage. nothing works so I'm tied to the desktop version.
Absolutely awful!! Quickbooks Self Employed worked well, but this Sole Trader Plus is terrible. Every invoice is now the same invoice number instead of following on from the last invoice. The mileage tracker keeps disappearing and to mark an invoice as "paid" manually is convoluted. Bank accounts aren't uploading with new transactions, even when being reconfirmed. It's a step backwards! What are you playing at Quickbooks? I've also been charged £12 when the email said it would be an offer at £1.
total garbage and waste of money. we pay them monthly around $30 and its keep disconnecting from the bank and make lots of trouble with accountant. its the only app can be used in Canada and that's why they still survive,cause there is no competitors. worst support team as well

EDIT: I am now updating this to a one star. The app just refuses to load. no matter how many times I close and reboot the app, it will take FOREVER to load. it is wasting my time as a bookkeeper.
Forced to change from self employed version and was promised all my data would be transferred. Can only see expenses and no income. How dare they tell me all my data would be there knowing full well it wouldn't be. I now can't view any of my income that I manually entered for last tax year just a total amount.
The app was not great but usable before. This latest update has one of the worst UI and over all user experience I've ever seen. How bad is your app development team that they really don't understand what people want or how they use your product. Now everything you are trying to access is hidden behind 3-4 layers of useless menus. This speeks to the level of development. they don't even have fiscal year as a profit option in this shart app. Happy to see my monthly rate go up with 0 development.
was working fine on a new s26 ultra until a few of days ago. uninstalled and reinstalled the app but no good. got out a old iphone and logged in straight away. please make it work on Samsung
lots of random changes costing the business time and money to adjust. no help from help and support, just same stupid questions over and over again. go to xero or even Henry. stay away from this bug filled slow, connection issue filled "app"

Horrible app. Nothing works really. It has like 10% of the features of the website, yet even these are not working properly. You open a customer and non of the transactions are shown. You click on a recent quote to check, sometimes it opens sometimes it doesn't. It's a joke
logged out of account by quickbooks in the middle of creating an invoice. Never could get my account back open despite multiple attempts at logging in from phone, desktop, iPad. System continually said, "We have no record of this business" all the while billing by business card continually. Lost all of my client invoice data, mileage records, and receipt deductions. I called and spent 2 hours on the phone with an IT technician without resolution. Gonna try WAVE app as am alternative.
went to cancel and it was very difficult and frustrating. not worth the hassle. easy to sign up. so difficult to cancel. save your time.

This app is terrible. Honestly, it takes so long to open it's almost entirely useless. They keep redesigning it but aren't working on improving the core efficiency. This app needs major attention.

Frequently slows down and crashes

The tax code keeps disappearing when I am trying to add a line then it won't let me save the invoice because there is no tax code. So then I have to go on the website to set up the invoice. What is the point of the app??
I don't know what they have done but I cant even send estimates off my phone anymore , I keep getting redirected to the ai platform when I go to send and invoice or estimate if its not fixed soon they will be losing a customer for the last 10 years
*update 10/04/26 Still horrible. very unreliable, constant bugs. Moving to different software after 7 years with quickbooks. The new update with new ui has rendered this app unusable. Bugs, takes forever to load. i habe to use it on desktop now. Fix it or I will take my business elsewhere.
How has it all gone so wrong? it was great before the upgrade clean, clear & simple to use! jumped on upgrade offer, I can't get bank transactions, not even last year's accounts, must of been designed by absolute morons!
