The free version *is*, and I have learned how to use it for my purposes with its current limitations. I am not going to recommend an app that the Play Store tells me "may not be optimised for your device."

Would not install. Took advice by author to uninstall and reinstall. Wanted another payment!! Option for refund gone.

Text selection is a joke. If your cursor isn't already on the same line as the word you held touch on, it selects the wrong thing. And the text selection handles are completely broken. Doing basic stuff in this editor is horrible. This developer doesn't care about the customers at all and NEVER fixes any of the serious problems. Developer has abandoned fixing anything on this project and does not care. I hate this developer, he should give up instead of embarrassing himself.
Pro key not recognized in latest update of jota.

I paid for this piece of junk at least a year ago, and 80% of the time I run it, it asks me if I want to TRY THE PRO FEATURES.. Even though I paid for the damn thing. Avoid.
Failed to confirm pro key
Hi. I purchased this pro key to voice my vote for the developer to PLEASE upgrade jota for us android 2.3 users so can enjoy stability. Jota 2014 has serious data loss bug, that may be fixed in new versions, but as android 2.3 is no longer supported in new jota, I am stuck. Developer, please support us! thank you.
It says my system API is untrustworthy and that it has detected a piracy. This is one of the few things I've actually paid for and it's one of the few that I can't actually use

Bought the pro key, but periodically the app still forgets it. When I press activate pro key it confirms, but keeps showing ads after restart. Have to install reinstall the key to fix this. Annoying.

...Untrustworthy System API" is the error I'm getting constantly when trying to activate the Key, even though i bought it through Play Store and haven't running license cracking things or the like and for this price this is absolutely outrageous from the developer to say the license cannot be activated (tried several times complete reinstall)

This developer shows no respect to paid users. I have a pro key but still getting annoying ads. They suggest going to settings menu and manually hitting 'activate' every time before use, which is nonsense. Neither does it help anything - still getting ads. I can't focus with ads present. And the whole app is laggy, partly due to a laggy ads API. Free users: Turbo Editor and QuickEdit are better choice, and the latter offers half the price of this app to remove ads. I'm considering switching to one of them.
and Jota wouldn't let me. It said it needed this and that, it wouldn't just let me write. A pen and paper would be much better.
Are you serious? I paid the $6 to GET RID OF the ads, not keep them around. Now I have a crappy "pro key" that I paid $6 for and nothing to show for it. Fix it.
--update 2014.12.21--Purchased ages ago, suddenly even after validating my license again and again, I am getting an error-- 'unstable system . So now I have paid and have to see your ads, and only get free features. yes deleted and reinstalled. ---- Please bring back option to insert text in place on existing open file from a share to jota action. --PLEASE ADD FTP OPTION, this is a key aspect for a code colored text editing app
This is online text editor does not work without the Internet. Bought the app, the app after a few days without the Internet does not work, now is not started if the phone settings chosen not English. Author whether this Japanese made hara-kiri

I have spent over an hour trying to activate this app. This is the only app that I have paid for that I have had such problems with. It downloaded to my android device, but I can't get it to appear in my apps or to activate. The developers should be ashamed to create something that causes such frustration for users!!!!!!!!!!!
Like many others before me have reported, the app often won't recognize that I paid for the key. It's frustrating, and this has been going on for a long time. Not acceptable. Note the developers will reply to this complaint with instructions on how to activate the pro-key. (a) this often doesn't work, and (b) users shouldn't have to do this more than once ever. I like the editor but because of this ongoing nonsense I cannot recommend the paid "pro" version.

Needs to be online to work, which is annoying. Bought to support jota and remove adverts.
This is the best text editor I've found so I bought the pro-key to support the developers but lately I've seen ads where I haven't before. This makes me really sad, they're obtrusive on my phone & obscures my file. Not cool.
I used to love jota but if I keep getting "can't save file" the program is useless to me. I have the pro-key so it should not matter whether the file is root access or not. Half the time even when I save as it does not work properly. This is infuriating.
