really it's not well structured to learn any language
Does not understand the difference between a day 0 beginner and someone with a lot of experience of just a few phrases. It refuses to move on to the next lesson, even when it is repeating the previous day's lesson. What is the point in that? I was trying to get away from Duolingo because it is impossible to learn anything fast, but this is even worse.
I doesn't work as Thay said
can't sign
Very bad experience with the Langua team. I cancelled my trial one day before the expiration and they charged me for one month. That is unacceptable and dishonest. I also experienced several issues to cancel the subscription. I hope they can try to connect with me to fix the issue.
new language loading packs is bugged. every chat tries to load some libraries but then errors out and the whole app needs to be refreshed. should roll back to previous code logic
Terrible. Flawed. Errors galore. it mispronounces commonly known pronunciations. for example the Italian word Ha, the H is silent. yet it pronounces it incorrectly. I've caught multiple errors bring it into question significantly this app's ability to instruct one on italian. I've asked for a full refund.
it's unacceptable to have paid for an app for it to be buggy when sending voice recordings to the chat.
Pinyin doesn't show up for mandarin which makes the app useless since I can't read Chinese characters. Good effort though
extremely frustrating. the AI guided courses are on the face of it not bad, but if you have to pause and then want to return to where you stopped, or you want to practice a particular aspect of the lesson, the AI is useless, doesn't listen and apparently has no flexibility. you might as well be talking to a recorded message. so those few minutes you have between daily life are wasted arguing with the ai.. it makes me angry that such a good idea is so bad irl.
This hasn't grew my confidence in learning a new language, it's thoroughly dented it. The app failed to start a chat session, forcing me onto a web browser session away from the app to try Langua. I love the idea of having a chat companion to practice with, but the speech to text translation is incredibly frustrating and does a horrible job in recognising words, often keeping you in a repetition loop.
still no fix , not gonna start paying 'till i can get my bluetooth headset working with it :(
trash
mic is not listening despite the application was given all the permissions needed
absolutely disgusting. they take your money quickly enough. Then months later they've deleted all my sessions and left me back at the start, so really wasted months of my paynent. I'm back to square one having wqsted time and money to this unaccepatble company. Nothing is worse than Langua. AVOID. You have been warned!
I won't be subscribing after the free trial. it receives a star because the AI generated flash cards are great in concept. The app is glitchy and I need to restart often. The chats are still very frustrating with wait times and not hearing my pronunciation properly or not accepting correct alternative answers; so the entire premise of conversational like fluency really doesn't hit its mark here. Not to mention the expensive packages if you do choose to pay for the app. There are better apps.
I get that the selling point is tailored towards language learning and that's great but y'all just made me create an account and put my info and interests in just so you could try to charge me chatgpt/grok pricing on a tool that expects 10 minutes of usage daily? nah
personally haven't touched this app and after reading the 1☆ reviews imo the creators are quite unprofessional. 👌
Not for beginners. I waste a lot time saying the same phrase and getting various translations of what it hears. Not enough detail and too much giving a phrase and expecting you to know what it said. I sometimes wonder if it is giving me back a response from someone elses conversation. Reasonable when it works, a time waster when It keeps telling me try again.
glitchy so far but hoping the update will fix this
Sending recorded messages in a chat simply does not work. When pressing the mic button in a chat a timer starts, however, when trying to send the recorded message the button simply does not work. First message impression. The app is useless. Got it to practice speech in the first place.
After each Chinese phrase it quicky says 'repeat that phrase' and I can't hear the end of the phrase that I'm supposed to say because it talks over it with that instruction.I can't find a way to stop it talking fast after what it wants me to learn and if I can't hear the end of the Chinese sentence I sadly can't learn. It also showed that I hadn't pronounced words correctly but the AI said 'great job' and moved on. I wanted an app to help me talk and work on tones but sadly this one isn't it.
I want to like app this but unfortunately the auto send function isn't working properly and this makes it very slow and annoying to use. once they fix this I'll try again but I won't be spending £200 a year without a near perfect app.
Insanely small daily limit, doesn't really coach you as well as say Claude Opus 4.7
OK for beginners, but falls short for intermediates. The UI is messy - on tablet, flashcard list gets cut off at the top, making Korean words like 갈등 appear as '갈능', rendering them useless. When adding to flashcards, articles like 을 and 도 get selected with no option to exclude them. Most critically, the AI is limited to outdated information. For intermediates wanting to discuss current events and new products, Claude AI with STT is a better option. Canceling for now, but will check back.
In call mode it doesn't actually play the audio through earbuds specifically when I'm trying to practice vocabulary and I'm forced to listen to it on speaker. If I turn call mode off and instead activate the auto record and auto send options, your auto send doesn't work. Additionally, you need to add a section for asking questions. This is an LLM. Use it. As it stands, I learn more nuances from Claude than Langua and that's because I can actually ask it questions about the language with sources
the "Do a Role Play" sections need a lot of work. Role plays are very important in learning how to interact with people. the AI characters in these role plays say the same things over and over and lose interaction very quickly. I was trying to interact with a new neighbor because that will be the case for me soon. the AI chapter asked me if I had a car over and over, along with 5 or 6 repeated phrases. the role play was of very little use
I initially gave this one star - but since it works (kind of) on my phone I felt I must acknowledge that. Even this review section doesn't work correctly. I've downloaded (I thought) onto my laptop as that's where I want to use it. My (newish) laptop can't see the app, so the mike doesn't work. I was brought to a total beginners class (I'm low B1) and it won't even get past Hola!
Good potential but not quite there. Learning Brazilian Portuguese with translations in Latin American Spanish. There's way too much talking in Spanish in the basic courses and every time the AI tells me to say something in Portuguese ("say xyz") it pronounces the Portuguese words in Spanish instead of correctly, in Portuguese. I can tell the difference because I'm at an intermediate level but a beginner might not. Not worth the money at this point.
Its ok, I've learned some phrases well, but for £30/month glitches are unacceptable!!! this needs to be fixed!! I learnt 10 phrases in one chat but then it says we have not learned anything in said chat... I want it to test me on what I have learnt... this is also unacceptable for £30/month... these issues need to be addressed or lower the subscription fee. Maybe I will reverse engineer this App and launch it for free or £1/month... with actual support.
The app crashes all the time. I wouldn't mind, but I paid the £219 for the full version. there is no way to send a report when the app glitches or crashes. So you just have to put up with it and try again another time. I wouldn't bother with the full version until it actually works. Good idea, not there yet. I feel like I have been very much over charged and I will not be renewing.
