Catastrophic Backup & UX Trap in new devices The initial setup UX is a trap: it prioritizes "Log In" over "Restore". Logging in creates a new empty vault in your account. If you then enable cloud sync to retrieve your TOTP tokens, it instantly overwrites your real backup with the new empty one! No warning, no version control, no rollback. Worse, there is zero tech support to recover them. A 2FA app shouldn't have a single point of failure caused by poor UI. I lost all my accounts. Avoid!
this app forced me to change my password over and over. on top of that trying to sign into the authenticator app I had to put a code into the authenticator app. I've had to do all this to connect my phone to my laptop. I am sick and tired of being forced to prove I am who I say I am.
I triple-checked that my accounts were backed up, went ahead and did a factory reset, and now when I attempt to restore, it says 'backup is not stored.' I have lost access to tens of accounts. Thanks Microsoft. I'll find and stick to an authenticator with export options.
endless login circles.
I have been unable to use the Authenticator app since I got my new phone last week.
Very disappointing. I am unable to receive any code via this app. I am wondering what the problem might be.
screw this app bro, and screw my college for making me use it
