"Note is read only message" and no freaking clue how to fix it. Do you guys want us to stop using OneNote?
it has the most ridiculous bugs for a simple text program, if it cant sync with the cloud you have to fix the PAGE CONFLICTS DETECTED error (apparently I need to fix my shopping list) and you have to use ANOTHER DEVICE to do it, are Microslop serious? if you want problems that shouldnt exist this is for you.
it never syncs properly and cant use google voice to text on the keyboard.

So far, I've experienced nothing but issues. I've downloaded, had an error message, uninstalled, re-downloaded, and now a different error message. I really had high hopes for this app.
Buggiest app. Won't sync. Tried logging out. Won't log back in or let me log into a different account. App just whites out and sits there

used to be great now it's completely broken. notes haven't been syncing between devices for weeks to months and now I have different notes spread out over multiple devices and can't even seem to make new notes and existing notes are read only too. why did they break this great app for no reason? what was gained? now I have to find a way to move all my notebooks to a different platform. good job Microslop!
super buggy and widget not working.
useless for fold phones, folds are meant to be for productivity, sticky notes not available on folds, sync of work computer doesn't give me my sticky notes. lazy design as work on non folds.
always problematic. first it says read only. then, after i can finally write. it didn't save at all. now i lost a lot of data. and i can't recover it.

Wont let me log into a different account other than a school account I don't use anymore. doesnt sync either. Literally useless. tried this multiple over months, never works.
Turns out the app was not syncing for a month so I lost my notes. Well guess I won't be using this anymore
There seems to be a bug possibly after recent update to this app that made all my notebooks read only and I can no longer edit them. Keeps saying "Note is read only".

1. Can't rename Notebooks in the app. 2. Can't select multiple pages at once. 3. No option for tagging notes. 4. Why do notes keep scrolling horizontally? 5. Missing "Section Group" Feature
while making notes, the top area which is very largely taken by only four things that is HOME INSERT DRAW VIEW, that area should be thin show that we get a large area to write and make our notes, it is taking more than 20%, if there would have any option to share screenshot I would have done that to show. give me any email id where I can post that picture so that you can work and improve

Editor not supporting "general accepted standards" for simple commands like copy, paste make it unbearable to use on frequent basis. Not worth the kilobytes of the download.
Still a third-class app from Microsoft for Android. No attention from developers - they seem to care about the iOS version only. I'm tired of this poor, almost abandoned app, and looking for an alternative. Sorry. Good luck to you all.
Glitchy, can only get two pin notes with titles onto my home screen won't be bothered with another app that doesn't function easily
I am not able to edit my notes since last week, as the keyboard doesn't appear while making notes, only the cursor blinks.

can't do anything on my notes no more it keeps saying read only. I can't even add new note pages as it keeps saying please wait while we sync but nothing is syncing.
it's bad enough when you're notes don't sync into the app - the main point of having this app. but here, they figured how to make your detailed notes disappear from everywhere merely merely syncing. and even corrupt your everyone notebook. it's been a problem I first saw 5 years ago and to this day they have not resolved it. i mean i can't believe how much incompetence it takes for a gigantic company like Microsoft to screw up something as simple as a note app. good bye.
Option to check off completed tasks no longer working. this app is 50% less useful than before the last update.

Very poor app, non intuitive, difficult to use and fails often. Currently all my files are read only and can't repair meaning all notes are useless.
Recently the app stopped allowing me to type in any of my notes. I can't sync or do anything. I can only view them. Ugh. I cant even transfer the data to another app. So essentially I lost everything. When I go to the windows version on my laptop it tells me there's and error and sends me to a 404 page.

Apparently in 2026 it's too much for Microsoft to have a basic notepad app work properly. Does not load, does not sync, everything is read only...

Beware and do not use this app. There are scores online who have lost all the data within the app because the app seems to malfunction out of nowhere. All of a sudden I got message about sync issues and no matter what I did it did not resolve. Then it became read only and once I logged off and then back on and clicked on the note, it said that it could not locate it and would not open it and then it got deleted. What a strange app and a pain.
Horrible brush, the only thing keeping me away. My S pen deserves a better brush.

Not interested in creating a Microsoft account. Just wanted a program to write notes into. One of the other many notes applications is probably more my speed.
BS note application. Absolutely worthless experience after using for months. You need a simple yet well optimized app as a note. Not something that takes literally minutes after each time you open it, just to sync? I forget to note, what I was supposed to note, by the time this worthless junk is ready. Terrible experience!
having used OneNote for over a decade, in the past few years I have found its performance terrible. When opening the app all my previous notes have disappeared. It takes a good +5 minutes to retrieve notebooks. Not sure what and why anything has changed for this to happen and it's incredibly inconvenient. The whole point of notes is to write notes. Not wait +5 minutes so I can capture a note. Edit: 10 minutes and waiting
New: it's incredible how poorly it works on my foldable. Especially when closed. It literally cannot keep pace with my typing, so the words come up jumbled. I think it's time to move to Obsidian. Old: Another start down becaude the app actively prevents Gboard from inserting predictions. I've never seen an app doing that before and it's rather annoying.
