They paywalled a bunch of free features, and I seemingly can't change where it looks for midi files now.
I used it before finding a better midi player that even outdoes midi Voyager regardless of whether or not it was available on new devices, but now they paywalled custom Soundfonts, and the developer is being very disrespectful and unprofessional to reviews
Absolute trash. On loading you are presented with a screen which tells me I have no files. There is no way to explore and find files. Useless
Asks for payment for what previously was free to use
Used this app for a long time, but now it has turned into an app where the features are behind a paywall. Uninstalled and highly recommend against using this app.
All the different sound fonts sound identical.
I take back what I said, this update removed too many free features for me. The whole reason I downloaded it was to test all types of soundfonts, and now that feature is locked behind a paywall. Now it is just a very basic midi player.
The app got updated, so I'm updating my review. For no reason other than greed, external sound fonts are now a premium feature, the 3 sound fonts you could download were removed, and the UI just feels more clunky and hard to use. I'm downgrading to a version that lets you have external soundfonts for free.
it asks for storage permission and then stops working. if I tell android to wait the phone gets really hot.
First of all, the UI design is bad. Second off, I can't even select .midi files even though this app is advertised to be a MIDI PLAYER. Third off, I've seen the developer respond to people's 1 stars like a scumbag.

Massive paywall. Paid app pretending to be free
Before the last update Feb 2025, premium features were only available when logged on to Google. Now it wont run at all if not logged on to Google. Unacceptable. Uninstalled. Replaced with competitor.
Can no longer load in custom soundfont in free version
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And exactly this is what you did. The past version was perfect, until you locked custom soundfonts behind a paywall and made the UI very bad. Wouldn't recommend the new version of this
Took away ability to add custom sound fonts
I liked the app for a while, worked as intended. Just downloaded the latest update as I hadn't updated in a long time, and found that you can no longer set your own custom soundfont unless you pay for the premium. You used to be able to set your own soundfont before, but since I can't without paying, and I'm unable to pay, I no longer have a use for it, so I uninstalled. Edit: just saw that the developer said "hehe" to someone else who is similarly frustrated. What a scumbag.
Update after like 5 years seems half-baked in the design department and puts previously free features behind a paywall. I paid the price and it's worse than when it was free. Why does the SF2 selection not filter out MID? There's no way to queue songs either. When you change a soundfont, it doesn't reset the song anymore.
Really poor design for a new update... please bring back the old UI. No "premium" stuff. That only means I will pay "premium price". Premium = you pay

Updated review: Downloaded this to a new phone and most of the old features are locked behing a paywall. Wouldn't recommend, switching to a different player.

You have wrecked this app, now it doesn't stop after each track. I desperately need this fixed as I use it in performances.
I was so happy with this app up until the latest update with a new layout and UI. Now my organized folders simply don't work with this new layout. I was deeply disappointed with this new layout since before it was my most actively used app on my phone, but now i simply can't use it with this new layout. Super bummed out.
the app became now pay walled especially on the sounfonts/banks that i liked to mess around with. :(

It has no soundfonts to load
I used to like this app, but due to recent updates, they've completely changed it. It's a lot more frustrating to work with, and features that used to be free are now "premium" features. I will be uninstalling, they've ruined this app for me. Shame, because I'd been using it for a couple years now.
You have to pay to change soundfonts now...? This is worse than the previous version where the only thing you have to pay was to remove ads and the equalizer, but now this??? Missed the old UI. My favorite features in the app had to be paywalled now.

The new UI sucks and you can't change the spundfont anymore. It's a total downgrade compared to before :/
App was recently updated, and now the ability to change the soundfont or OPL bank used is locked behind a paywall. The new interface is also worse. You can no longer browse through individual folders for songs, everything is in a massive playlist now. I'll be rolling back to an older version of the app.

I was using this app very frequently up until the UI update, which made the app basically unusable due to it deciding to put all folders in the root, not letting me organize everything. Additionally, it also locked changing soundfonts behind a paywall, and the default one sounds terrible (I would've actually bought premium if it weren't for the UI update, but oh well). Fortunately, I have an old version backed up, so I can revert to that and not have to use this update.
File system navigation on the app won't address SDcard.
Nice, but some midi straight up doesn't play (try touhou 8 music for example)
