kind of useless without a Walmart aggregator unfortunately.
The idea is great, but it is extremely infuriating to have to log in to all of my accounts constantly, instead of them syncing automatically. And thats if they will sync at all. It is hard to continue to want to use this and maintain a routine if you never know whether or not any of your transactions will show up or if it'll be 2 weeks before you can connect your account again. for an expensive paid app, I expected way better.
This app is horrid. It is a tremendous amount of work to set up and is poorly designed. Do not waste your time with this.
Apparently I already used a free trial a long time ago, so I am completely locked out of the app unless I pay $99 for a year. Haven't been vibing with Rocket Money so I was really interested in switching, but wanted to see if I could test basic functions first and see how it works. Oh well I guess, I'll find a different app ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe at least let me see my data from last time instead of completely locking me out for daring to go try other apps. Rude.
It worked great for the first few months. It was very good at automatically categorizing my purchases and letting me now my spending compared to my budget. However, for the last few months it has not been able to sync with my bank account. Monarch doesn't really have customer service, and their AI chat bot can't resolve this. I will be unistalling this app and purchasing a different one. Edit : Yes, I tried the support chat bot but it just gives me the same answers as before.
open app, instant paywall to use app at all
none of the account synching functionality actually worked. it either didn't list the proper account at each bank or simply didn't complete the sync.
This was pitched as a Mint/Personal Capital alternative that you pay for, which encourages them to keep improving. So, I stuck with them even when there were features that needed to be developed. Now, however, they have come out with new basic features (like the retirement planning feature on Personal Capital and separate business expenses) and they are putting it behind a new $300/yr paywall. Goodbye updates for those paying "only" $100/yr. Bye.
I paid $99 a year so Monarch can invest in new functionality. They released retirement planning and paywalled it, asking for more money. Time to find a new product.
Always disconnects from my bank then it takes an hour or more of trying to sign in to my bank to update my info. There should be a setting for when you want them to update or even an option to shut off auto update and just do it manually.
Company decided to lock core features behind a premium 300% paywall. Won't be renewing.
Cannot change account that transaction(s) are linked to. Update: Still doesn't allow this in app
Any app that immediately hides behind a subscription service is automatically a scam
wants you to create an account before even trying the app for 2 second..F off.
Pay to use 🚩✋🏽☠️ never pay for subscriptions, that's a terrible financial choice one time purchase after a 90 day trail would be acceptable although it's not an option
you cannot use the app if you dont link your card to it
I'm not paying for another bs app Response to company - good for you. Still one star ⭐👍
as a professional in the software industry. I feel offended by this app.
Provides no value. Simple additional expense. Save the money. If Monarch cared about your money they would tell you what's up from the start. $15/mo is so expensive for something that claims to wish to help you with no real results. It's a truly laughable service for repeat victims. More power to those who can steal from the rich to be honest.
This is pretty useless if it wont actually sync with your bank and investment accounts. I "successfully" added my bank and investment accounts multiple times however no data appears in Monarch.
To complicated. Couldn't delete categories and it wouldn't link to all my accounts. Not worth the money.
App doesn't do much of anything and half of it's offerings don't work. Worst of all, it had some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Their customer service will literally ghost you until you message them numerous times. Then when they finally do comeback, they will close the ticket if you don't answer them immediately, and call you by the wrong name. Look for better apps.
I need to pay in order to get your subscriptions that's just ridiculous I want a app where I can not have to pay to look at my own subscriptions
After back and forth with support, (My bank, which uses Plaid and works fine elsewhere)I was told basically I should request a new connection, but new connections are rare. In short, sorry we won't help you. Monarch waited until after my subscription renewed to tell me. That way they could milk one more payment from me. Disgusting.
doesn't accurately record transactions and inaccurately categorizes everything waste of 99 dollars. I need a refund!!
not worth it. the only reason i paid for the subscription was so I can have all my accounts sync automatically but half the time I have to enter in things manually because the accounts always get disconnected. always adding new features but the most important feature is always broken. i can't even enter the amounts manually on the app and have to go on my desktop computer to do so.
supposed to help you save money but won't even let me look at plans or rates before locking me into a subscription and has deceptive promotions and sales. looks like a useful app but is way too aggressive about locking you in off of the bat
paying $15 to budget for savings is counter intuitive. . .
the layout is amazing and I love what it does, especially for tracking transactions and making a budget- if it syncs. I signed up for everything and then it stopped syncing with my account. I was told that there was a fix, but after waiting 3 weeks, I chose not to renew (why would I if the app doesn’t work?!!). if they can fix the connectivity, I'd be back in a heartbeat, but don't charge me if the thing doesn't work.
Monarch is a great product and the company's biggest selling point was their continued investment in the product and listening to their community. Unfortunately they have recently made the decision to separate some of our long standing requests into a new, more expensive tier, essentially breaking that core value proposition. I now have no confidence that the base product will keep improving or whether good features will keep going to expensive tiers only.
2 year user this is now a bait and switch app can't wait to see how many other features they hide behind there new 2 tier pay system. hey, they'll give you 77 days try they charge you 399. three hundred
Wasted $50 and 4 months. So many bugs...
Eh. Does not offer daily balance forecasts or monitoring. Great for reports after the fact, but useless for preventative budgeting. Also won't connect to some of my accounts, which makes the net worth analysis incomplete and thus inaccurate.
I quite liked the app but I felt cheated. went to the website and found 30 percent off. after I signed up, Facebook showed 50 percent off. immediately cancelled.
seems kinda cool but doesn't connect to two of my main financial apps Webull and Titan
Decided to review the budget since I can't sleep but run into a 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable. The professionals at least have an Under Maintenance landing page but not these guys.
Really wanted to be able to use this app, but only 1 of the 6 financial institutions I utilize could successfully be linked.
I tried using Monarch for a year based on advice from my financial advisor but finally gave up and went back to YNAB because Monarch doesn't force you to align your budget with the real numbers in your bank account. Without that crucial step it was no use to me at all.
