Terrible! Don't buy it. The latest "update" made all the pictures of birds, maps, etc. so distorted that they are useless. It was once a great app. Tried to contact the developer twice - no response. The developer did respond to this review pretty quickly. Said "can't replicate the problem." Their statement seems to be quite bizarre, as I can see the problem on 3 different devices. Wonder if they have switched on their test equipment. Should give them minus one star for their response.
Wont work anymore, this app costs money, i expect better
Had this app on my google pixel and it worked fine. Now tried to redownload it onto my new galaxy s32 and the app wont work. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing works. Just seems to be stuck on 'downloading'
The app won't load! Money has been taken but can't get the app past pending!
Extremely difficult to navigate. Not at all happy with this app
I have been using this app for years without location permission, now it won't work without location permission due to latest update, sent several emails trying to get developer to respond and when they finally did they just said i was wrong and it had always been that way and ended the conversation. So terrible service and terrible app, we asked for our money back for this expensive app and got no reply, clearly these people are just here to take your money.
Latest upgrade does not work. Sent email to support. No reply. Not happy anymore. Would rate it as -20 if I could. Big shame. App has been good up till now. NOT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was a great app until the latest update. I used to be able to search by inputting a bird name, now I can't. This has rendered the app a failure in my opinion. I could search for robin and have all types available to select which was closer to the observation in the example results. Now i have to manually scroll through the list which detracts from the experience and somewhat wastes a lot of time if the bird is at the end of the alphabet. Not happy anymore and would not recommend.
New version doesn't have a way to search by bird but the old version did. Nearly useless now.

No sign of any installation happening. Refunded. (Google Pixel 3a, Android Bêta version)
Couldn't stop it from freezing on downloads.
GPS doesn't work unless you have a wifi or phone signal. (All my other apps that use GPS do work under these conditions).That makes the app useless for recording sightings in the field. Unfortunately, the developer doesn't bother to respond to emails. That's a shame because apart from this issue it would be a good app. If this issue gets resolved I would rate this app a lot higher.
Had the old version of this app, which had a few glitches but could work with them. Decided to update hoping to fix the problems and now it does not work at all. Have emailed developers numerous times and still not working. They said a few days, it is now 5 months. Bad app, poor developer response, big money wasted. Don't waste your money on this one, get one that works.!!!!!

I've loved using this app for several years now. But now I hate it. I don't know why the developers have changed a perfectly good app, but the reasons I hate it now are: 1. General appearance (colour) is gaudy. 2. It's fiddly to use now, and difficult to navigate. 3. ALL audio files for a given species have the same title, making it now a matter of trial and error as to whether I select the one I want. 4. Even if the titles of each recording did describe the call (gender, region, behaviour etc), the way they are displayed is such that only part of the first word is visible anyway... back to trial and error selection again. 5. In the "compare" mode, it's now only possible to play one recording at a time. I have often found it very useful to play two tracks simultaneously, but now can't do this. 6. I was never asked if I'd like to install the update. 7. There doesn't appear to be an option to reinstall the older, better version. I'm inclined to ask for my money back.
Don't purchase this App. When I purchased it, the App failed to fully install despite being advised originally that it was suitable for my device. In addition, I have not been able to obtain even the slightest semblance of a solution to the install problem from 'mydigitalearth' to whom I was referred by ''Google Play' (the retailer). So, I am between a rock and a hard place - the retail refuses refuses to refund my money AND the App Developer who fails to resolve the problem.. Reading other reviews I discover that the app does not work on new android versions - so it is being sold under false pretenses.
I am unable to download all the files for this app which I purchased a few years ago. I have uninstalled and tried to reinstall. I get a message something like you are missing 756 files of this app and you need to download them for the app to work. ( not exact words) when I try to download the download speed is exceptionally slow some like 40kbps . My download speed is usually about 1 MBps. Ultimately there is a loss of connection so the download fails. I have tried this on numerous occasions and the same thing always happens. I can download other apps from Play store without problems. So as I cannot use the app and have paid for it I am very disappointed.
BUYER BEWARE - Won't work on new android systems!! IT WON'T EVEN DOWNLOAD to my new Samsung Galaxy S5. And this model is not even the latest model of Galaxy. I have LOVED this app on my old phone and it is fully paid for as well, but after multiple problems it just won't download. Just as other Samsung users have said. VERY SAD and no fix from the company!
I used this app heavily and enjoyed it for many years. It was an excellent data base with excellent features. Once I upgraded my android phone the app does not work. 'it is designed for earlier android versions' despite contacting the supplier I've heard nothing. Not surprising these days.

downloaded app. Would not play the sounds, have uninstalled and re installed a couple of times. still not working?? Is the whole reason i bought the app.
Very poor service. I have had issues uploading my exisiting lifer list and have sent multiple emails to support over the last two months and haven't received any responses. Dissatisfied with the support considering I paid for the app.

I have the current version and it's worse than ever. Example: I try to look up Bell Minor using "bell miner", "bell", "minor", "manorina" and "honeyeater". Nothing!!! Bell minor doesn't seem to exist on the app anymore, or at least is unfindable. This has been the same for numerous searches. Developers take your money then zilch.
Not happy with location and lack of simple search funvtion
It is not ineffective for identifying, learning, and recording birds. However, considering the price and in light of the free app Australian Birds it leaves a lot to be desired. The UI is clucky. Smart search is not useful at all in my experience. And it is a bit painful and restricted if used as your primary bird list. However, it is nice to be able to export and save your list separately to the app. The bird calls and descriptions are useful.
its setup so you can use on the family library however each member has to purchase so badluck kids or hubby😡
This app could be 6 star but until the developers respond to constructive feedback emails dont waste your money. They ignore emails!! The GPS doesnt work. (every other app GPS does). No ability for GPS logging add/edit after the event. Currently a bird sighting / recording needs to be logged onsite as against "off site" at a later date. We don't always carry the device on which the app is installed so the ability to paper record and then do so on the app is important.
Why did you change the format. It was perfect. now it is confusing. Ruined what was a great app
Overpriced for what it does particularly since it is only for a limited time. Now unusable asking for more money. Comprehensive list of birds with calls for each. Drawings with limited poses(mostly perched) per species. Will be using other guides in future.
Have just spent 4 months travelling in WA. Found the regional filter worthless. Constantly included east coast and Tasmanian birds. Smart search is clunky, badly arranged with poor descriptions. Developers do not seem to respond to feedback for improvement. Look at the other bird app before purchasing this.
This used to be great app but since android 6 it no longer works. Waiting 4 months and no update to the app. Anyone else have this issue?
