Not suitable for notification sounds. Why in the world can't I make sound files that are as short as one second? Why does it need to be longer? It makes not sense.

I just wanted to cut the first 3 minutes out of a ten minute track and have those 3 minutes by themselves. What I got was a 10 minute track with 7 minutes of silence after the cut at minute 3.
