Napster used to be a functional, albeit in some areas flawed, simple alternative music streaming service with some useful features not found elsewhere. In ALL their wisdom, they decided to do away with all that made it useful and go full with AI music generation, completely erasing what made it good in the first place. In an age of boycotts of Spotify over ai music, they could've capitalized on it as a great app to switch to, and completely botched it
This app is a joke, the changes make the app useless, and is imposible to listen music.
Just terrible, nothing works. I was hoping to find a good alternative to Spotify (which I hate on principle), but this isn't it. I suggest improving user's experience and settings functionality, and lower the price! We are spending more on subscriptions than groceries!

Charging subscriptions and getting rid of the entire music library is such a scummy thing to do! Maybe communicate about the changes happening.

Music alphabetically added to playlists for many years wiped away. No need to continue using the app if my saved music is no longer readily accessible. Napster loses another customer to their competitor. edit And after I cancel my subscription, Napster email with the headline "Keep listening to the music you love. For only €1"... oh how ironic. I cancelled because I couldn't listen to the music I loved!
Since the App has been updated ( 4th Sept 2025) I have lost 100s of songs from my saved playlists.
I don't even know what the heck "transition to an AI-driven platform" means, however that should be no excuse to lose nearly all of your music library. You can find barely any albums now. Sadly I paid for a yearly subscription so screw me, right? Until Napster fixes their -dissaponting- music library (that's shrinking as we speak), I can't recommend this. I just wanted a Spotify alternative that wasn't owned by spineless ghouls. Oh well

As per all the other reviews, Napster are in a licencing battle so removed (from want I can tell) most of the songs. Annoyingly I can't even see the names of the hundreds of songs they've deleted from my playlists. I created these over decades from the earliest days of Napster. I understand they may be in negotiations etc but it would have been wise to at least tell customers what's happening and that (as they seem to suggest in review responses) it's temporary. And not charge meantime!
Seit kurzer Zeit verschwinden dauernd Lieder ohne Benachrichtigung. Jetzt sind plötzlich fast alle Playlists leer und sehr viele Künstler und Songs gibt es nicht mehr. Wahrscheinlich wird Napster bald eingestampft so wie es läuft 🙄
I had subscription last few years- it was great. Really sad to say that unfortunately this app is now fairly useless. Reluctantly switching to another service. There are now just too many missing artists, even those still there are missing tracks, albums etc. It's also been fairly buggy. Such a shame, preferred this to other streaming apps but it's effectively dead when you can't actually play any music in your playlist.

Songs and artists just disappearing all the time. Go to play a playlist and it's half of what it was. Really annoying and frustrating. I was trying to support the app that paid artists more and didn't seem as corrupt as some of the others, but I still want decent service. So annoyed I paid for a year straight up.
what happens with the old Napster that's music was free and you didn't need to pay a subscription
I tried their service already years ago but it was quite glitchy back then. Now I gave it another chance so I logged in, tried to transfer my playlists from another service and after half an hour it logged me out and now I cannot login back anymore, even though I change the password. Luckily I have the free month, otherwise I would have asked my money back

User for over 10years and the app is just not working right anymore. Did uninstall it several times, but it keep on doing the same error, skips songs that I had download, stops playing and closes the app, keep getting errors, keep getting messages the app is not working right, and I'm paying a lot of money a month for the app not to work ever right?? Something I can not even hear two songs and the app will closed 😤

Splitscreen is missing. You shlould really consider implementing that feature. Especially in a car you want to have it beside navigation app without having to switch between the apps always. Edit: wooow still not possible and it's been almoat 2 years now. really considering to cancel my subscription and never use it again. i mean 99.9% of my installed apps can do splitscreen
Don't like it because it doesn't have all the music I like and i can't geit on xbox like Spotify and it crashes sometimes
This is the worst performing app I've ever used. Nothing seems to work properly and it's sooooooo sluggish... Takes forever to search music and even playing the next song is a struggle. Speaking of struggle, I'm having trouble finding the 'cancel subscription' option in the menu. Definitely do not recommend.
Everyone, be sure to create your account and subscribe from the web or you'll pay more for the exact same service! Monthly £13.99 from playstore app versus £10.99 on web page! Very insulting when the app is free to download. (Same, unverified story, it seems, on the Apple ecosystem). As for me when I discovered this discrepancy I uninstalled the app and requested deletion of my account. And I was switching from Spotify over ethical concerns...
I'm sure the app might be fine, but NOWHERE on the app's page does it say you can only use it with a paid subscription sign up (there's a free trial but that's timed)
Bad app. I have 4 months free code and couldn't use it. Only asks for subscription.

Frequent software bugs in the android version. - Frequntly fails to load Playlists, mine or others. - Drops songs partway through playback. - Random app crashes. Needs significant maintenance.
Has become so unreliable. Constantly getting the "Something went wrong" message. I've been with Napster for years but now seriously considering moving to Apple or Spotify.
For some reason I have to choose 3 favourite artists before I'm allowed to use the app. What's the point??????? Uninstalled instantly.

had it since rhapsody 2007! that says something right there! Edit 2023 They took away a really good feature that I loved. The new for you is gone now so it wont show me new songs from my artists anymore. Probably the last year for these guys as I have already paid for a year.
Couldn't use the app without subscribing. Also it says free on one screen and then 12.99 per month in the next
Terrible, keeps logging me out and erasing all my downloads!!!! Are you going to pay for that 20gb of data ive wasted redownloading the same songs!! Dont think so
After using napster for 5 years, it cannot load my download playlists 90% of the time. Basically I'm being robbed of £10 a month. I've reported the issue a couple of times and had no support. Time to use a different music app.
