I have been using this app for more than a decade, spent thousands of dollars on subscriptions. But unfortunately, greed has destroyed one more app that used to be fantastic. My maps got erased from my devices in the middle of the night, in the middle of navigation, because my subscription ran out at midnight? So instead of navigating the boat, I have to find internet. In the past you would get to keep your maps on the device. Such a scam

More worryingly: the charts display is unsafe. when zooming out, some navigation marks / dangers are randomly masked, but not all, and nothing tells you you're are the wrong zoom level. You could be heading at a known rock and not see it on the map. It's really bad design. Just avoid the app, there are many better options.

App in general is good. However a paid navigation application that CANNOT show Magnetic courses, only true, is useless and unsafe. Response to Garmin's reply to comment. Even my Garmin 3210 chartplotter bought 20 years ago outputs magnetic courses. Every other navigation application outputs magnetic courses. Please fix and issue update
for some reason when it plots a course it just plots a perfectly straight line... Even across land. Not helpful. I expect a nautical navigation tool to show me a specific route around obstacles.

It's a scam that after you purchase an app as a once off they don't let you access what you bought as they moved to a subscription model. They should have to honour the previous sale! You can't take it back once you've sold it! Should be illegal. Should be punished. Won't be. But avoid if you can. Poooooor form.
won't let me open. Stuck on free trial screen. when I pick cover, says I already have that map and am paid until December.
how does a lifetime subscription expire? I purchased a lifetime subscription many years ago and my app just tells me that my subscription type is no longer available and has expired. Even before my lifetime subscription expired, the app was mediocre at best.
5 stars until last update removed bing satellite overlay. Disappointing. Please fix overlays. Lowered to one star. removal of Garmin access to roads ruined this app for me. Satellite view spotty and not effective
too expensive
I can't create an account. tells me that my IP is blocked. The link of the reply doesn't work for me. either. No interest in messing around with a system that doesn't even allow me to sign up. Uninstalled it.
As soon as i press sign-in or register it crashes. I tried to reinstall it, clean cash reboot the tablet many times. Nothing helps.
beware, they'll take your money without a subscription...and good luck getting it back!

I have 4 or 5 good apps for maps and depths. This app is supposed to be the best but it never loads satellite imagery. Anything it does load, or tries to load, doesn't load 100%. App needs some serious attention. Save your money.
Since Garmin disabled all chart info after 1 year, this app is a complete scam in comparison to the original Navionics app. Shady business practice is making a significant change in the subscription based service and hiding it in the "fine print". Be warned, the updated and so-called better version with more features now wipes all chart data after the one year subscription ends. The old version would retain downloaded charts, which was fair. How do I stop the constant nagging to Upgrade??

Since it is owned by Garmin, the app is getting worse and worse. Won't even calculate routes anymore.... Just expensive and not worth it!
Garmin has made a confusing mess out of Navionics, Boating, & ActiveCapt. Can no longer view on a PC, only a mobile device. Not great for trip planning.

won't let me subscribe,goes round and round chose area ,then subscribe then choose area . hopeless
So i originally purchased my maps, now I have no access to them. unless I repurchase them under a subscription. this is illegal in europe under the consumer rights act 2015. thus is no longer fit for purpose. either allow customers to restore their original purchases, or refund their original purchases. please also supply an email address so I can pass on my solicitors findings..
used to be great i found some good fishing spots using it. but now it doesnt allow me to sign in and when it does it says I need to subscribe when im already subscribed and then it says error if I try to subscribe because I am already subscribed. so its essentially an endless loop that doesnt allow me access when I already paid for it. i only have the one account and one email for it so theres no reason for the issue. not to mention their prices are ridiculous now

Too aggressively using GPS.. can NOT stop it from fully murking my phone battery JUST because I have "paired device" connections. refuses to release location data unless I "disconnect paired devices", which is not an option the app offers. deleting the connections is mot a fix, disconnecting from wifi is not a fix, and turning location to "only while.using app" is also NOT a fix. let me exit the app, whe. I say exit, exit. whe. I switch apps, stay using location. how is this so hard,.garmin?

Have a Navionics head unit on my boat. Used to check the maps on my desktop or phone every once in a while to just explore. Way too much to pay for that.
Lost all the touch with reality! $80 a year for maps? I didn't pay $40 two years ago! What a bunch of losers!
I too purchased this app a while back when it was a one time payment of $15. Then one day, the app would no longer work with no explanation or a simple heads up. Zero loyalty for your paying customers. Reading the reviews here ... looks like you got what you had coming to ya!
useless without subscription
It is obnoxiously dead after subscription expires. If you have instruments from manufacturer, go to their site, they may have navigation apps. mine is B&G - plotting/planning much better than this, and it s free.
trying to purchase with Samsung phone will not allow indicates a bug fix is needed
Overpriced garbage. The app was worth it for the original price, especially since you could use on it a tablet for a second display with your boats electronics. The new price is just pure greed, especially since the app isn't very good, and poorly designed. You can get used chart plotter for less than 200.00 dollars that is a much better value, if you want a dedicated nav unit.
Garmin thinks they are the pioneers for nautical charts or something. $50 subscription just to see the same charts that are available from a dozen other places. I will be switching my graphs over to lowrance. What a greedy company. Its not enough you buy thousands of dollars of plotters from Garmin. Now you have to have a subscription for the app. Useless.
i used to love it, then they got greedy and removed everything funcional and put a paywall to a mediocre program. i was a loyal customer, now Im royally pissed off

Pay for your own data 😡 Our boat was struck by lightning right before sailing her from Greece to the Netherlands. We installed Navionics on a tablet to use on our way home, where we're going to refit and repair. We won't be buying anything Garmin though, as they are forcing us to pay at least €45 to export our own tracks with an active subscription. We're not going anywhere for at least a year so not worth it. So byebye tracks 😡 Avoid this app if you want access to your own data!
Auto updated and lost my 1 time maps for life. now is a subscription.
I bought the subscription, recommended by Nautic Ed for Tides and currents. However, they don't work for most areas. What is the point of the app, if that doesn't work? What's the deal Garmin?
I bought my charts and now they fecided I have to pay anual subscription! Never were they supposed to expire!
I did the free trial. After expiration I tried to subscribe but It always tells me my trial is expired and to subscribe. it's one endless loop. Cleared all caches, removed and reinstalled the app numerous times. Doesn't work.

cannot get the sp 200 sonar phone to hookup to the navionics app. they claim just turn on and go. I have spent the entire day and still cannot get it to work. there are no help files, you click on the manuals and it's a dead link. complete trash if it dont work like they say.
