Complete garbage
It's terrible
I have used the Nest app for many years and it has always been 5 stars-simple, reliable, and user-friendly. However, in the past few days my 1st Gen cameras have started leaving me with dead zones where nothing is recorded despite activity. It feels like the app is being purposely broken to force us to the clunky and inferior Google Home app. Please fix for loyal Nest users who want to keep the Nest app.
doorbell and one camera just quit working.can not connect them

auto schedule keeps coming on no matter what I do in forum to stop it.
it's shuts off my itself durning the day while I sleep. I work nightshift in Florida, so in wakes me up with being to hot every 2 hours.
expensive
What happened? As of today I can't login with Google or email and password. Also not getting emails to reset password. I can pull my camera up in Home but can't get notifications. Is it time to get a Ring camera? 🫤
useless
Killed a good product line.
one of two devices malfunctioned. the price is too expensive. the app keeps resetting and taking over my settings, and they keep promoting discounts or rebates for providers we don't have, which is frustrating. I will go back to honeywell the next time these malfunction.
Terrible. Only alarm I know of where "silence" doesn't mean silence. I LEFT IT OPEN ON SILENT and you STILL SCARED MY PETS because I cooked AND TURNED THE STOVE OFF! If I could go back in time I'd buy ANYTHING else. This is on top of you not taking NO for an answer *5 YEARS LATER*. No means no. I. WILL. NOT. SWITCH. TO. A. GOOGLE. ACCOUNT. STOP ASKING!
The app for the thermostat goes offline so much and yet the thermostat is online. The only way I am able to fix this is by resetting the thermostat but that's not helpful because it is when I am away from the house I need to reset it which is impossible to do.
Nest will spam you with unsolicited offers on both your phone and the thermostat, even if you have disabled them in the Nest app and the Google Home app. This is against CASL legislation. Google Support was unhelpful and couldn't fix the problem, hence the review.
can't watch any video. don't waste your money with nest/Google products
Not so user friendly app.
always asks me to rate. annoying
slow AF. not usable to talk to anyone. not my internet or other devices interfering. magically works fine when subscribed to the extras at a cost.
I would like more control. The only option is to program the temperature. Some days, I want to set a temperature manually and not have it change according to the schedule. I would also like fan control. The automatic fan schedule can not be used unless either heating or cooling mode is used. I will be searching for a different thermostat soon .
Make it easier to change WiFi settings!!! Connect over Bluetooth or something.

However, sometimes it stops working and automatically switches to away mode even when you're actually at home, which is really frustrating, especially since it's been set up correctly.
Signs out on its own occasionally, unable to view clips of individuals at the door, only screen grab of the event.

No explanation as to why all my Nest cameras aren't showing on my devices
It was "fine", but no longer rings the physical doorbell anymore. also frequently cuts out when motion is detected.

Update for 2026- I cannot believe I've been using this app for this long and zero improvements have been made especially in the scheduler. One time years ago I went on vacation and the app decided we didn't need the heat on (I had not turned on that feature)and my plants died. I expect more, really. It's not intuitive, I have to click multiple options to get where I want to get. I want more data and clearer readouts and easier ability to quickly change the temp. Baffling.
The UX hasn't been updated or improved in over a decade. Feels like really dated tech now, which is unfortunate. I would consider other options if installing nowadays for that reason plus the monthly cost for basic service. My bird feeder does nearly the same thing and costs far less.
it's nearly impossible to turn the thermostat down just one to two notches with your finger on the app. It always moves three or four because the dial is so small. The humidity level doesn't read right. I really dislike this app. I would like to replace the thermostats with plain -no app thermostats that don't change the temperature by themselves all the time.
