Can't open docx files in native office app in Android? what century is that at Proton? Not even mentioning saving edits like in Dropbox, which is not expected at Proton before 22nd century I guess
photo backup doesn't work, it finished without actually backing anything up
this is ridiculous. opening any proton doc opens up the entire proton doc list. this is completely random.
why would you delete my files if I have no plan? so you want me to keep paying again and again and hold my uploaded files as ransom to me, this is not how terabox works, even now I still have my files on terabox without a premium account, if you just give me a ₱10 1tb offer again, I will surely take the offer, but now the current offer is too expensive for me, I think I will move to mega, I think this is the end of me using your app :( please don't delete my uploaded files
no search function!! after moving so many files and photos I realized, there was no search function! this is insane. now what I have is a thousands of files that I have to scroll through. Not to mention I have arranged some in folders, everything seems mixed together! can't locate those either!
Uploads are extremely unreliable, and basic features are lacking. I've consistently had a better experience using the web version than the app. No file search. No ability to have a folder watched for changes and automatically synchronize it's contents, no progress bar to see if uploads succeeded, folder uploads miss ~30% of files in the folder... All these issues have actually caused me data loss because files I uploaded seemingly without error ended up missing, which made me loose my backups.
Rating is for the app on ONE deviceWon't load, just instantly closes. Just had a new Chromebook delivered, and everytime I try to open the app, it instantly closes. Not sure why? Maybe it's a setting, or Google, or maybe Proton could do a little work on their side. Again, IDK? A solution would be nice, or maybe there's something I'm not understanding, this being a new system. It seems to work just fine on other systems. Although, it does load in the browser, so I'll rely on that in the meantime.
Closes while downloading then has to restart from 0. Gets stuck uploading and progress restarts. Apparently background operations and resume aren't a thing with this app. Transfer speeds are awful. You can't trust it to work so don't try to use it for anything important. I have 3TB I'll never be able to use due to how garbage it is.
I want to upgrade to Duo and get my partner using image backup instead of Google, but this app doesn't even backup in the background. It may run for a day or two, but then it just won't backup images again until you open it manually. This really needs to change. I'm literally trying to give proton more money, but they don't seem to want it.
Missing search
App uploaded my Photos whilst on ROAMING. Seriously?! Please disable this or make it at least optional, like any decent Cloud Storage app would. Also missing: - the Photos folder won't sync to my Mac. To access them you need to open the web UI - shared folders won't sync to MacOS clients as well I feel stupid paying for this app Unfortunately, Proton prefers spending money on people that politely answer this review, instead of people that should fix these issues ^^
it is incredible how slow it is. the menu is too basic also and so many things are just completely missing
Good service but worst app,even the trash button won't work.
You cannot sync a local android folder, only proton drive's app folder. So this is essentially the same locked in garbage as onedrive and Google Drive. Useless dev response: "Android system restrictions prevent apps from syncing arbitrary local folder in the background" LIES! Installed Mega and it does it just fine. Shame on you.
its easier to use proton drive in the browser. there is no logic for me as it comes to functionalities of this app, it just doesn't make any sense. Can you make it work as in the browser? Edit: what to clarify here? just check differences between the app and the browser as they are very big, starting with the way one can save files in both.
The endless full screen nagging to upgrade is relentless and a productivity killer.
Only fingerprint/phone lock is provided to lock these apps, it would be much better if you provide an extra pin along with it, because even if someone nearby knows the fingerprint/phone lock of the phone, they cannot open these apps because of the extra pin or folder lock system on set extra pin/password
Uploads are completely broken. Small pdf files (1mb) take forever to get to 100% upload after which it just restarts from 0% again. This only happens my phone oppo Find x9, the Windows app is actually just fine. Databases cannot be edited as the files are read only. If it can't replace G Drive, it might as well be a waste of space.
warning to others, this app is completely unreliable for work. I desperately needed to move a file from my PC to my phone today, I moved the file into the unintuitive my files folder that proton drive creates on your system, and nothing happens! copy, drag, nothing happens. I see some other files I added a while ago, no error, no feedback of any kind just doesn't work. I am reduced to transferring something on a flash drive just to get it done. I hate this sad excuse for a backup app.

Edit - followed bug reporting process, still lagging, same stability issues across different devices, slow and unreliable downloads. Still needs work

I'm going to move away from cloud storage and just use local NAS drive with cloud backup and downgrade my proton subscription. Proton you had long enough I even offers help.
It's a shame Proton released this unfinished. One more basic bug to the list: sync error when a pdf has a non-English character in the file name. Feels like we're back in 2003.
Works but is poorly explained. The photo section is atrocious, you can only create 1 level of albums, for every folder in that it creates another album so you end up with dozens of useless albums such as "family" "family dad" "family mum" etc. Also manipulating pictures is a pain, unless you want files from 1 date you have to select individual files 1 by 1, good look with that 1000 photo album! Proton should concentrate a bit more on usability instead of spouting on about privacy only.
folder upload works once, then I need to reinstall the app to upload another folder.
Buggy UI, dont get me wrong I love Proton and the desktop version works fine, but mobile one is horrible, if you watch a video and rotate your phone for instance the screen will go black video will continue but be black, swiping to a different file also does not work you have to exit the file/video and re-enter.
its easy to use and straightforward. My reason for the 2 stars is because if you upload via desktop(firefox browser, windows), you cannot see all your photos on your mobile app(android). That's annoying and don't know the reason behind that.
upload doesn't work for shared folders. batch upload not working when drive lock enabled. slow sync. 2 stars for the app. Works much better in the browser.
when camera roll is selected. app goes and tries to upload every media on the phone even though specifically instructed to do the camera roll only. eating up all the storage room.
This app is sorely lacking in features that others have. Most importantly for me, there is no ability on android to set to mount the cloud storage as a folder or to enroll an existing device folder for synchronization. This means that this app does not play nice with other apps/services. For example, you can't automatically back up word documents created by the word app.
Given that I should pay 6€/month, I would expect that the mobile app is actually implemented properly. A friend of mine created a photo album where I wanted to add pictures which would be just one button click in Google photos, but here I can either upload my entire camera folder or nothing, and I didn't find an obvious option to sync just the photos I want to sync ... Edit: I want to clarify that there is no option to upload one particular picture instead of a whole folder.
