Poor UX.
This app is reliably wrong far more often than it has ever been right. "There are currently no disruptions" as there's a massive tram diversion across southeast Melbs. "There are currently no disruptions" as two trams fail to show up over 25 minutes.
You'd think you'd put up when buses are replacing trains but that's too hard for you guys apparently.
I changed my opinion, it's GARBAGE! March Update broke it so bad like the Pakenham line that the App won't stay in the background when you quickly switch apps! What did you pay the developer with? Springrolls?
The PTV app is about as accurate for the train timetable as the BOM app is for Melbourne weather, and by that I mean it's literally never right and you'd live a much happier life if you threw it in the bin where it belongs. I'm writing this review from the unscheduled replacement bus i'm on. The app thinks my non-existant train is still running on time. You make up your own mind.
This app continuallys has problems keeping my favourites , everytime i get all my favourites sorted out there gone within weeks Thinking about uninstalling it

Some years ago this app stopped displaying real expected arrival times. You can tell by the difference between the station PIDs and what the app claims.

Everytime I add a favourite, few days later it says favourite not available and removes that. Happening so often

Poor user experience. The app will crash almost always when switching to another app causing the current journey loaded to be lost and I have to reselect it. My device is a Samsung Z Flip 5 if that helps

Provides wrong information. does not provide platform numbers check the train apps in Sydney and learn. wake up early, think, work!

periodically removes my favourited routes, ui is unintuitive, lack of reorder ability, confusing navigation of bus routes. old ap from a few years ago was far better
Do PTV staff usw their own product? Once I set my journey, the app should 'lock' the trip so I can refer back to it during my journey. Resetting the trip is beyond infuriating.
It's time to improve this app, as it's unreliable and inaccurate. Public transport services, including buses, trains, and trams, are frequently delayed.
worst ap ever. A year 12 student could vibe code something better
My child's Myki was set-up to auto top-up from my card but has inexplicably stopped working forcing her to use her own meagre funds. So I checked the less than helpful help pages to follow the instructions that I had previously set-up only to discover the instructions guide me to "tap 'Set-up' next to 'Auto top-up'." which does not exist within the app. Infuriating, much like public transport in general.
App gives fully false timing most of the time. miss leading.

Absolute trash app for planning Public transport routes. Don't waste your time - use Google maps, it's brilliant in comparison.
The times are never accurate on the App or at the Bus stop.

I am both shocked and appalled by the fact that it runs on internet. I had to use crummy free WiFi and couldn't top up my Myki card. now I'm stuck in the train station. People should be able to contribute to society with fairer circumstances

This PTV app has turned entirely useless. In the past we had Favorites, where I had my bus stops saved. That allowed me to quickly look up departure times. That has now disappeared, I always have to give it a Start and an End of the journey. The app completely omits bus connections. One thing the app gets right: the fare calculation, which is full fare flat fee for me anyway. In the past PTV app was most useful to me to see the life position of my local bus, which is gone now. Ridiculous App
The Premier Sow's snout got a taste for planned works and coach replacements as Transport Minister during the level crossing Skyrail project. She's a pig. So much coach replacement, you'd think they'd duplicated every regional line to every end of the state. But that would probably result in less grift for her drunk driving unionist thug husband. Trash app. Does not respect dark mode. Does not contain usable functionality for any form of history/tax invoice. Fail.
difficult to read and interpret, wrong information, need very good data connection. other people tell me (including railway people) it's useless and misleading - they're right.
the only time you'd need this is when there's an update on the scheduled timings, and it doesn't work in those scenarios.
difficult and time consuming to set up account and top up cards. particularly for interstate users. went aren't they're machines in any of the trams
The cloudflare "security check" delay every time I want to view a myki is infuriating. Any my pending top up since December last year means I have to go to a staffed station and waste my time to get someone to transfer my money that is stuck in your system to my myki. But the app is mediocre, so there's that, I guess.
Why is google maps better at predicting bus and train times than the official PTV app?

needs to be greatly improved
it can be helpful most of the time but there have been cases where it makes me wait at the bus stop for too long or tells me to wait for the bus when for some reason the bus is already gone. iv gotten lost with the gps as well. it can assist you, but don't rely on it to be 100% accurate all the time.
closes whenever I switch apps
Slow, unhelpful, back button doesn't work, very difficult to do a new search after you've already done one. Won't let you look for earlier departures than the current time (which you need to do if you're on the tram and only know the name of the stop you got on at). No push notifications when to change, no station maps. Guys, look up the Switzerland SBB app & copy that
