5/8/26 omg can this app work right for onc i still can't scroll down to take care of my clients in the managed weekly care section. Constant server issues where I can't shut down the rover card, leaving inaccurate information from my clients. if anything is running in my background apps, Pandora etc, the rover app freezes up. it has been doing this since end of october.. App keepsing rover is experiencing a "ruff patch".. And why is there an X on the bottom of my screen? It doesn't go anywhere.
The app version of this website is a nightmare to navigate. I need a profile to book services my my dogs - not to offer sitting services to others yet the app continues to prompt me to do all these things to update my services. I can't find my current booking and can only access my sitters profile through my inbox messages. The desktop website is much easier to navigate.
You have to pay them $80 to apply. Imagine paying $80 to apply for a job.
Yet another app stealing from the people doing the work.
Very complicated and confusing, has unnecessary settings/ too many things going on in the app. The shift from Catinaflat to Rover has been an inconvenience and I have actually had several clients reach out to me on my personal number since they couldn't figure out the app. It's also very stupid that it doesn't allow me to copy a message so that I can translate the message nor does it have an option to translate text within the app.
Rover got over its head. charges overly inflated fees for barely any customer service. App glitches always. Gives me sitters hundred of miles away, Customer Service cant help and app also deleted all my info about my 2 current dogs and only shows my dog who passed away 2 years ago which I really didn't appreciated. Rover is a big let down.
Horrible company and app
Diabolical. The support team are useless. my profile is active but doesn't show up in any search, doesn't matter how, where, when or why. Nothing comes up. Support wont help, they have no answers for me as to why this is happening. As a licensed boarder, probably the 1 in 100 on Rover, its very upsetting that they refuse to help. Then want £25 to start a new profile. as if.
can no longer copy & paste information into my calendar
Don't waste $50 for background check. I don't know if it's because I'm a man, but, I passed the background check, I have a very professional profile/sitter profile, and I haven't landed any clients. I'm in Jacksonville so it's a very populated city. Most of the top sitters or walkers tend to be female. My rates are very fair, but still no luck. The idea seemed great, but absolutely terrible gig work for men. Wish I didn't waste $50 since I only DoorDash at the moment. Waste of money.
Rover takes a substantial cut of your profits and still the app doesn't work. What are they doing with that money if there's no support, and the app can spend 5 minutes buffering and require two force stops before it allows you to start a booking? It also frequently deletes photos and visit notes. Find sitters through your local Facebook groups or by word of mouth through friends. Don't give Blackrock your money.
I looked into Rover as a possible backup for dog care, but decided not to use it. My main concern is that Rover is only a platform connecting owners with independent sitters. Rover is not the actual carer, so the safety, reliability, experience and quality of care depend almost entirely on the individual sitter you choose. Owners need to understand the risks before booking. There are service fees, cancellation rules, refund limits, and disputes may not be simple if something goes wrong!
No one wants to work on this app. Hired a dog sitter and she went MIA. Everyone has an excuse to why they don't want to dog sit, even though they are marked as available with those services. Don't waste your time, these are not professionals.
Cat in a flat app was much better, this is rubbish!! Everyone has the same thoughts about it. Your going to loose a lot of money now!
Like many others, I've been forced to use this app since they bought out Cat In A Flat. It's very clearly not geared towards cats and cat sitting services, the fees are extortionate and very unclear (plus, not worth the support they supposedly pay for), the interface is not user-friendly at all, and communication about this "merger" has been appalling. Some regulars have already asked me to move off the app because of how unclear and confusing everything is... Congrats!! 👏
you gotta pay to be listed ...sucks ...it's not free app ...
was incredibly difficult to delete my account and data
don't even waste your time. you pay $49 for a background check and fees to join and get nothing.
we got stuck with no pet care outside of the country. I was scrambling to book someone and Rover won't let me complete that booking because we were out of the country. who thought about this idiotic stipulation? Terrible user experience.
why did you buy CatInTheFlat? to eat it alive for their good service and replace by your dreadful one? Rover app is nasty, the charges are skyrocketing, and by buying CatInTheFlat Rover destroyed anything good that still was were. Now we are forced to join this losers app Rover or move our clients outside any apps.
difficult to use because if you change your phone no or email it won't allow you access
I'm glad to see there's other apps finally coming out to give Rover a run for its money! between the lies of them giving 100% of tips, to the fake accounts they create so they look like their numbers are better! The amount this app crashes and the amount they take from the sitters is absolutely unacceptable and I can't believe more people haven't wanted better apps because Rover is not about their pets, only bottom line
awful app tried setting up hard to use and no help
I stopped using this app after a nightmare experience. I booked three one‑hour sessions for my 15‑year‑old JRT, and the sitter completely ignored my detailed instructions. The “updates” were clearly staged photos, and my dog was left alone so long that my neighbors threatened to call animal control. My JRT travels with me - he’s never neglected - but this app put him at risk. If you care about your pet’s safety, avoid this service. They do not vet their sitters and they do not protect your baby!
I need special care for a senior dog. and was looking for emergency drop ins. The app is not set up for that option. I always have to put a date and time in to message a sitter. and most of the time I never heard back from a sitter. just looking for a meet and greet. and discuss options. not a good experience
I have to use this app because of the merger with Cat In A Flat. The CIAF app was not great either but Rover is even worse. The user experience is awful, the instructions unclear and unintuitive, it is just stressful and now I'm worried I will lose existing clients because everyone is forced to use this. Fix the app!!!
I have been forcibly moved to this app as a cat sitter without consultation and it is simply not appropriate for my or my clients needs. this includes moving all our personal data over and imposing regulations. big red flag! clearly not interested in doing what we want, just taking our data, a bigger cut of money from our appointments, or finding out what works best for cat sitters. there's been no induction process therefore there's lots of mistrust
very difficult to book and pay.
After my service was canceled by the sitter, I only received a partial refund. I attempted multiple times to get into contact with customer service but was unable to get any sort of contact.
une arnaque
yet another service that nudges you to tip
was very difficult for me and my client to use plus a 31% service charge lost over $100 would not recommend if you like getting payed
We were moved from catinaflat to this app and I find it a disaster. way less user friendly and with a lot of stupid constraints, like if you take a sitting you are automatically unavailable in the dates and so on. what a disaster..I may simply delete my profile
The app is glitchy all the time now. Errors updating calendar. Rover cards not sending. Profile editing is convoluted. And now every photo sent in chat is posted to profiles even though all photos aren't of pets - an absolute violation of privacy. And support is non-existent and they don't care about you or helping you at all. They also don't care to improve anything with their service which they charge too much for per sit. They put generic replies on all these reviews, that help nobody. Silly.
I decided to get back into ROVER as a sitter. this app is awful. it constantly has an error of having a "ruff patch" it says. Can't get my messages, can't chat with their support. I'm planning on finding another one to go through.
Having been a sitter on Cat in a flat for many years I am extremely disappointed that I am now forced to us this terrible app. it is not user friendly at all and makes seeing my bookings ridiculously difficult.
They take almost 1/4 of your income and then refuse to give it to you on a Saturday under the guise of the weekend. everything is automated. I get deposits on Sat. Rover is making money off your very hard earned money, gaslighting you into thinking your bank won't deposit on the weekends, while they sit on it and make interest off YOUR money and gaslight you to your face. used to be a good company, but now they're greedy corporate oligarchs like every other company.
PURE GREED! I learned today that not only does Rover take 20% from sitters but that they charge Pet owners 11% fees. On a week booking, I got paid $200, while rover got paid $80, and for what?! Sitters on Rover are just trying to earn some extra income and you're completely cutting into our profits- I want to stay affordable to pet owners but still make it worth my time. I recommend pet sitters get connected with people then go off app. They also took 2 months to approve my profile.
this app is shockingly poor. You can no longer use cat in a flat and have to used this app. impossible to navigate through and tailor it to cat sitters. would not recomend
since taking over Cat in a flat, it completely ruined the whole thing. the app is hard to navigate, the pricing is ridiculous and taking fees from the client AND the sitter is horrendous. nobody will want to book through this app anymore!! and many sitters will go off app with previous customers. bring back the old cat in a flat app!!!
it's an awful app and I wish to deactivate my account but I cannot get into settings to do so. I worked for cat in a flat and this company is all about DOGS! I did not ask for any of this.
Forced to use this app as an alternative to cat in a flat. I can no longer quickly view my inbox with ease and see dates and earnings of bookings as an overview. Now I have to sift through 100 conversations to find the booking. USELESS! Prices are much higher and charge per cat on top of visit with an extra random charge for clients. Greedy and rubbish changes. At least change the layout back for the sitters.
I am forced to use this app now Cat In A Flat has merged with Rover. Unfortunately it is worse than the old Catinaflat app in every possible way. It is difficult, and far from intuitive, to update my profile/settings, some of which appear to have been incorrectly transferred from the old platform. Also, this app is very dog-centric, even though it now has many users who are (or require) specifically cat-sitters.
I had made an account 2 years ago, got a background check and everything. Didn't yet start my small business due to family issues, yet they deleted my account out of nowhere. I logged in with the few emails I have, and its stating I didnt sign up on any of them. I filled out my pet profiles and everything, and nothing. Waste of $50 for a background check.
$49 fee... yeah no
I charge $18 dollars a night with zero neg reviews and as of recently I noticed they stopped giving me bookings yet people who charge $20 more are getting bookings like crazy. My only explanation is that Rover is manipulating the algorithm so the people charging more are getting more bookings because they get to pocket 20% of each booking for fees. Jokes on Rover cuz I'm the type that will report this to the better Business bureau over unfair business practicing which is illegal.
Watch out Rover is a corporate thief. The sitter shows up online for $20 an hour but Rover corporate billed me $49 an hour without telling me beforehand, and they ran my card. They charge more during the holidays, but i booked for April 25 to May 2nd no holiday. This was a stop in for 30 minutes Vist with my cat. Last time I booked Rover did the something.
loved finding out that the last update made it impossible to view our full rover card. super fun to have to load it in the browser on my phone while in another country thanks rover great job
tried to follow ap to retrieve code to choose sitter. no can do. still I have no sitter applicants. no sitter....no Trip
I'm trying to change my name as it picked my nickname from YouTube when I created my profile with my Gmail but there's no option to update my name which is ridiculous, also it's full of dog sitters that have their calendars updated long time ago and are no longer available yet they still come on my search and I can't edit the search to look for sitters from nearby cities if no one is available in my town, what if I'm happy to transport my dog up to 50 miles for boarding ?
