useless app
The app doesn't offer a proper experience with all the webpage in it. if you only need to check your balance it's okay, but I'd you need to do more, book an appointment, contact an agent/counsellor or just change the pin of your card it's IMPOSSIBLE ! There's a really large place for improvement! Even the Desjardins app was better (that's a lot to say if we compare the bank in terms of size...)

Worst experience ever. Need to input log in and password, as well as double verification every 2 days. if not fixed soon will switch banks for sure.

being with this bank has caused me only stress, everytime anything goes wrong I leave the bank more angry then I went in with no problem ever solved 15+ years with this bank and they don't care at all. go anywhere else on god.
Seems fine in most ways but is almost unusable to deposit cheques. It's gotten to the point where I've setup a special photo booth with good lighting, a special background, and I have a number of other steps (turn off wifi, clean lense) just to take a photo. It still doesn't always work and taking a picture of the back of the cheque is always slow. Many minutes slow...not just seconds and that's not an exaggeration. Driving to the bank and waiting in line would almost be as quick. Truely bad.
regularily doesn't display balances or accounts. app is so bad I won't use Scotia Bank again.

This is the worst maintained app I have ever used, frequently is non-functional and the updates are horrible to the point that I can cripple my day to day life because I don't have access to my money for days at a time electronically.

Scotiabank with no notice made the app incompatible with my phone locking me out of my bank account and trading account which caused me to lose money since I couldn't perform transactions. Other banks apps work perfectly on my phone so there is no security issue. The worst part is that they didn't let me to change two factor authentication to text message and demanded a push notification but wouldn't let me use the app to receive the code so I was locked out of website banking too. Horrible!
changes account type without notification. then doesnt forward any information or reach out by phone after months of service charges you won't know are happening
Requiring a phone number is a backwards move. It does not enhance security whatsoever. It only establishes another point of failure and hackability. Pure evil! I may close all my Scotiabank accounts due to their poor security standards regarding this phone number BS! why do they not let you use an authenticator app? It seems to be a common ploy by corporations and governments in the world to gain as many points of ID for control of us and to block access to our assets!
by far , the WORST ever. Did the update.. I checked outages, said its fine..waited 32 to talk to someone. yup, systems down. I asked a question the employee spoke over me. I have ADHD so 32 mins of that and to be talked over? I even said when I was getting upset that ADHD. The employee basically mocked me with his tone of voice and said bye bye. and hung up. Scotiabank claims they accommodate disabilities. I BEG to differ. I have disclosed my ADHD to them MANY TIMES. unacceptable
The cheque deposit feature has been broken for years. It seems to reject every other cheque I try to deposit.
they updated the app and now on BOTH MY PHONES the app doesn't support them. it did before. I had zero issues. but now it says it isn't compatible with my devices. I have android 11 and 13. I'm forced to use the web version and it sucks
The quick balance stopped working months ago. They just never fixed it.
It doesn't accept my password auto fill, it lags and it doesn't work. I have to open the app 3 times to log in. .... Avoid this bank and choose a credit union.
stop charging outrageous service charges and using that money to sponsor hockey arenas and post billions in profits. give us a break
there's always issues with this app, every other week with e transfers and history and managing your history.... literally about to change banks because this app is so inconsistent absolute garbage
there are only 2 tellers. sometimes only 1. the third girl doesn't work the teller station even though she is literally right there. long line ups occur.
Discontinued support for my OS so I can't bank with the app anymore. Ridiculous.
Terrible app, often doesn't open, when it does there are sometimes accounts of mine I can't see. I have a family member who has access but needs me to approve logins, the approval notification takes so long the time has run out to approve it... every time. I hope they plan to improve it soon, I do most of my banking with it even given its poor performance.
The app frequently shuts down when making a trade causing huge financial losses for me. They just raise the trade rate from $4.99 to $9.99 so I'll be looking at other institutions like BMO and TD
I keep checking the prompt less button for second verification but it still makes me do it everytime. your site can even get something simple done right
thanks for the scare. I always set up my payments when my bills arrive so they are automatically paid a couple days before they are due. I went into "manage payments" and none of my bills were visible. I put them back again then the original ones reappeared. What is going on? I almost ended up paying all my bills twice.

Once of a sudden the app is no longer compatible with the device... What? The device OS/software is up to date. Software development standards dictate to make any app prod update backwards compatible. Who is coding/testing for Scotiabank? We all know 🙄🥴
Worthless garbage. Just wanted to add a card to pay using phone in stores, but it forces to verify using signing in on app. ok, so downloaded app, signed in, verified phone code and now it also requires activating 2-step using app, which means can't login in browser without using app. This bank is the worst! This is not the same with any other bank! Uninstalled.
I would give it NEGATIVE STARS IF I COULD NO WHERE IS IT STATED THAT THIS APP NO LONGER SUPPORTS ANDROID 14 I HAD TO CALL THE BANK BECAUSE WHILE THE PLAY STORE INSTALLED THE APP, IT WOULD LOG ME IN ON MY ANDROID 14 Samsung A71. The app works fine on my recently updated Samsung A54 running Android 16. i am completely DISGUSTED with BNS that they would drop support for a android version just two(2) levels down from current. My A71 has better specs than almost the entire current A series.

opened a credit and chequeing account. I am very limited on what I can do. I get flagged for any little thing. a transfer or purchase. my accounts get locked. I have money in my chequeings and always pay my credit. this bank is my worst experience by far
Always have a problem when i need to use the interact identification. The action do not go through so I have to uninstall and re install the app every time. it's annoying af Also their link for the Scene+ never work. it's just not an ergonomic app at all. The website is even worst. really better off other bank and apps

Authentication force to use a phone number, it is problematic and insecure. This bank disappoint every day.
The app itself works great, but never apply for a visa through the app. I was told it is better to apply through your branch, even if the function is available on the app. App apparently cannot vouch for you, only your branch. Hard to imagine that Scotia created an app with certain features, but prefers you dont use them. They should make that point available to all users as it would save customers a lot of pain and time. Not the best way to make a customer feel valued.
