I love the concept of this app but it just doesn't work, even with the paid subscription. Even in popular areas, sometimes i see NO restaurants/ratings. search function barely works, things are loading endlessly but never giving you information. I was happy to pay the subscription fee to support a like-minded community but this app is horrible. you can probably vibe code something in a day that works better.
They want 5 stars before telling you to pay 🤷
Terrible business model. The app forces you through a mandatory intro tutorial that is actually just a subscription funnel-you hit a paywall before you even get to see what the app does. After reading how difficult it is to cancel once you're locked in, I uninstalled immediately. Avoid this trap.
Apparently, and more so sadly, I am not the only person who is having issues with this subscription, and being charged without approval. Obvy, I also haven't been able to reach anyone. After reading some reviews, people saying they cancelled the subscription but was charged anyways, I will contact my credit card company after cancelling, and blocking them from future charges. Not very cool. I ALSO FOUND THE APP NOT USEFUL. Why I stopped using it last year. Got charged now anyways...
Terribly developed app from the start. They try to get you to review the app before you even use it. It's not free and it's not very transparent about it until you've filled out their questionnaire.
Not a great UI. Also the user journey at the beginning while the questions are relevant the user journey is not inspiring. In addition there appears to be no free option.

Scammy app that uses long onboarding -> subscription push tactic. avoid. I'll make a FOSS, nonprofit alternative soon because the laggy and long onboarding pmo so much. look me up in about a month's time
Only focuses on Beef Tallow and Avocado Oil. If you're looking for options like Duck Fat, you wont find it here

I signed up for a 3 day free trial and within 5 minutes, I received an email from Google saying my Paypal had been charged the annual fee for the app. I can't find anyway to contact Seed Oil Scout for a refund. This is a scam.

EXPENSIVE! Yet not useful. Most places don't have a rating, they expect YOU to research and post an answer. Then, they ignore or downrate your contribution. They push Sweetgreen as seed oil free, which is FAR from reality. Mezeh is actually seed oil free, but we're reluctant to list is seed oil free, despite multiple requests. They seem more interested in corporate deals and some kind of big picture instead of supplying a useful app. I travel a lot and have just given up using it.
They make you rate them before you try it, then try to charge you money.
hi--I just noticed a charge from your app--but I canceled this subscription a year ago. I'm not sure how to cancel it. It is not showing as active on my Google Play store, and when I go to your website I don't see any place to manage the subscription. too difficult to manage the subscription, and there are just not enough locations where I live to make it worthwhile. I deleted the app after canceling last year and was charged again recently, and NO contact info on their website. Too hard.

Unfortunately this app is not for people who live in small cities. I canceled before my 7 day free trial, I was charged anyways. so I removed all my info and deleted the app and one year later they somehow charged my account again. I have tried to contact them multiple time with no response. I do not recommend this app to anyone ever.

I was charged for the first year subscription, even though that I literally installed, discovered that there literally no restaurant around that uses this app and canceled within 3 minutes. I've been trying to find an email address to even enquire what the hell happened and how can I get my money back. No luck, so if anyone can reach out to fix this, might change this 1 star rating.
While I love the idea, the implementation sucks. first, you charge for the app, then you expect us to populate it with data. Then, you make shady deals and deceive users. Sweet green is NOT seed oil free, yet you have them permanently marked so. people can comment but not affect the rating. Sweet green simply had 2 seed oil free dished for 2 months as a promotion. Most of their dressings have Sunflower oil. Many of the user reports are simply inaccurate, yet never checked. I'm not renewing.
