when it's time to have your money.. they keep it till 10 more days. I believe any amount you put into the account..we should be able to have our money right away. why must we wait for the money we put to the account?

While Self itself is fine the app is horrible. it takes 5 or more tries to login. The app starts to load then goes back to the login screen. I thought maybe the issue was with my tablet so I installed it on my phone. Same problem. I just spent 10 minutes and tried at least 2 dozen times to sign in. Good thing my account is set to auto pay, which I normally don't use.

They automatically closed my account after I finished the 2 year program, then my credit score dropped 30 points.

Ive been using self for cash advances for a while now. but my acct got hacked and I tried to reach out for a solution because my new card takes up to 10 days to get to me but when I reached out they basically told me there is nothing they can do because it's a automated system so they can't reschedule payment or do anything to help me only saying that I won't get fees added when that's not the point. when u make a late payment ur borrow amount drops and I don't want that to happen. what a waste
can never stay connected via chat to speak to an agent, paid my credit card payment the balance still hasn't updated 5 days later I will not be utilizing this service anymore 🗑️
start with $25 payments till you get to 100 then they charge you $25 to get the card and run it annually you end up spending almost $400 long-term and because I got out before I did the 400 it's going to probably ruin my credit. hit you with a late fee or there's fees all over it like 27.9 APR go to sofi like 7.7 apr

I loved it until the app won't open up at all for several months and now they won't take your payments over the phone either. you have to call them to get them to send you a link to go to to pay. ridiculous
today is April 26th you guys just did an app update. now the app crashes before it even opens. not sure what you did but I'd hate to cancel my membership because you developers are lost

I thought this was designed to build my credit not ruin it. Prior to building my credit up from 555 to 702 all on my own. On the 11th Self Reports my Credit Builder loan as a zero limit credit card. Tanking my score 67 points. Sabotaging my credit not building it. Pushing back and delaying my House Purchasing.
emailed customer support still no response I need to change my email like COME ON! how is it that difficult too email back over something so simple

I have used this app for years and used to love it. Now it's super glitchy when trying to log in. I can't update any of my payment methods, won't let me remove old ones nor add new ones. Now I can't borrow nor can I make my payments. Forget chat for help, all I get is the "sorry can't help with request" from its AI program
App is fraud. They will take all your info and not allow you to do anything in app. It will take your account info but won't allow to do anything. Beware. App is the worst.

if your bank switched from Visa to MasterCard then you are out of luck to use your debit card to make payment because their system is dumb. It keep saying that the number that I input is not a real card number while I am input the exactly the number is on the card. poor I.T dep and system.

I got this card to build my credit. Not only did they shut down my card before using it, but they're not sending my deposit back.
Never ever sign up for this card! They charge you ridiculous fees on your own money! They charge max interest on YOUR MONEY and call it their fee???Run far far away from this POS Ripoff Company! These types of companies are ruining America.

another app that takes your money and refuses to let you borrow, open a line of credit, ect. I would much rather be denied, than have you falsely approve me for credit, take my money, and then refuse me the credit. Will absolutely be reporting this app, this is crazy work from a customer's perspective.

customer support apparently can't do basic math. I made 4 payments. shows in the history I sent them a copy of but I've only been credited for 3 yet they keep telling me I owe 89!!
will not stay connected to the bank. keep getting notifications to reconnect and that it can't find the payments. such a pain anymore. not even worth the free version.

has gone from terrible to worse than terrible starting early January 2026 . Though it has always been glitchy since l started with Self over 31/2 to 4 years ago . l have just gotten tired of calling Self Customer Service to fix it these many years . It does not make sense that Self says it is instituted to build your credit ; when in my experience it has been so hard getting the app to work well . Most of the time the full app doesn't even appear . And only appears 2 seconds , then disappears .

The Ads you see for this company implies you are getting a loan.But they ask you to make a payment. it's a credit building tool and when you ask for your money back all the sudden they can't do anything about it.
