FRAUDULENT LIARS TAKE YOUR MONEY AND NO REFUNDS DO NOT PAY FOR THIS APP. The ads are misleading (fraudulent). You have to physically have a copy of the book, or a digital copy, then photograph every single page and load each page into the app before it can read it to you and they WILL NOT give you a refund when you ask for money back.
I downloaded this app bc I wanted to hear books that I had already purchased on reading apps. it's a lot easier for me to listen to a book than it is for me to read it. however it couldn't produce what I wanted it to do, so I deleted it. I am not a fan of paying someone else money for somebody else's work. I never tried the whole scan a book thing & see if it reads it to me. because I think that's Shady AF. soon bookstores will be gone the way of the video store, & everyone will complain again

Does not read scanned books to you like it's advertised. That was the point of me downloading it. The app will only read books in its library, which isn't much.
I went through the trouble of taking pictures of a book so I could listen to it, and at the end of EVERY page, it skips to the end. I can't download the pictures I took and use them in a app that works (ie 11labs), so I just have to do it all over again. A d this is on a premium account BTW. Also, over 70 voices, only 2 of them are African-American, and the female voice is not really close to sounding human. I'm glad for the free trail, because I k ow not to actually pay for this app.
I can't use this app. I’ve tried Plato's Republic, Leviathan by Hobbes, Les Miserables and Jane Austen's Persuasion. The audio makes no sense. And now I'm not even sure I'm compliant with UK copyright law. I'd like a refund, please.

I wanted the option to save the audio as a sound file.
so not scanning 651 individual pages just to hear a book. do better. EDIT: Your advertisement is misleading implying it can pull the whole book in one go. Don't mislead people with your advertisement and it'll do better.
app is the slowest app ever wouldn't let me log into my account that i made the day before. sometimes it won't respond when you tell it to read you something. wouldn't read any document I tell it to.
it pauses every time it hits a period it's really annoying. And I can't afford the paid version.
wanted to use this to listen to books that dont have audio versions. the process to get the book set up on here is just crazy. gotta take a singular picture of each page for the best results. i cant edit how names are pronounced or edit the text themselves after you complete the picture process, which is a nightmare because ai sucks as it is. leaving a note for specific words or sentences to help the ai understand what is to be ignored or help properly pronouce names doesnt work.
this app is a joke. the adds said you take a picture and it would read the book to you. it does not. im trying to cancel the subscription and it wont let me. this is severely irritating and annoying. very inconvenient and misleading.

I used to like Gwyneth Paltrow, I don't want anything to do with her & her Huge ego. Why do we need Apps do everything for us?! I want to write my own material, say the words, sentences with my brain & mouth. In my Humble Opinion WE HAVE TOO MANY APPS. Thats why I am working with sooooooo many people who DO NOT know how to do this basic reading, writing, mathematics. NO THANK YOU I kind of like hearing MY VOICE!
TOO PERSONAL I can't even use the app without giving it information about myself-gender, age, why I'm using the app. If feesl like an invasion of privacy.

pathetic, I am not able delete my account. I went to my profile, settings, still didn't find the delete my account option, 100 free minutes per month way too less
Charged $99 without notification! Absolutely not worth the price. They promised a notification before the charge would happen but didn't keep their end of that deal.
This is a shity company. They say they won't charge you until after the free trial but that is false. I have been trying to send an email to get my money back but no it has a problem and the email won't send. Oh I finally get someone on chat though the app. As soon as I tell them I want my money back its crickets. This platform takes several payments to access different parts of it and its not as easy to use as the commercials make it look.
it's useless
speechify has been amazing but the app and pc version is getting worse-almost unusable now.. the Android app on some documents will skip words, rendering the audio useless, and epubs when read, the audio doesn't match with where the screen says it is. Oddly these issues don't almost ever happen on the desktop version. update March 2026: now the android version freezes when I try to use it!!! if the audio even starts at all, the screen freezes and when I come back the next time it will start over
🤣 Pay to use the text feature? No thanks. Plenty of free apps do the same thing this does. Uninstalled and won't be installing again.
Be prepared to give up your email address before you can use the 80 dollar app. I UNINSTALLED it IMMEDIATALY.

how do you cancel, it is charging way more than expected
dumb you would have to scan the entire book to get it to maybe read it. I might as well just read it, all while paying $100 a year. And if you have ios (which I don't) you can scan the cover to see if you can then purchase it from Speechify. The advertisement makes it seem like you scan the cover and then it reads the book to you which I would be willing to pay $100 for but if I have to scan every page of a 300 page book AND it doesn't always capture every word/sentence this app is pointless

Warning: It's glitchy, and doesn't work as advertised. The product doesn't scan the cover of a book then read it to you. It worked on and off and then it decides to behave for a few days. It's clunky and if the trial period was long I wouldn't be a customer. Avoid this app.

No Arabic voices available for offline mode, can't add multiple images to convert to text, no option to ignore pronouncing the asterisk in Arabic voices. Terrible experience.

Pricing is a JOKE. $30 a month is insane. $140 a year is just as dumb. i hate companies that gouge you. Use G Reading Mode and save your money for gas, food, or insulin or something and get your priorities straight.
do not get this app if you want to take photos of actual textbooks and upload into audio book/podcast. the camera features are horrible. ive bought the premium, and used 5 hours since Oct 25. ive been in college the whole time. I was excited to get this app, now it gives me anxiety. I want what was sold to me, to take photos of my textbook, upload seamlessly and have it read aloud. bad service.
All their ads show you take a picture of the cover and start reading the book well it doesn't work that way I took a picture of a cover of a book and it didn't do nothing but try to read the title if I could give less than one star I would but it does have free books and books you can buy on there but I wanted it to read books I have and it was a severe disappointment
First run of app was so privacy intrusive I aborted part way through and uninstalled
trash app. you would think that a text to speech reader would be very easy and simple to use. choose a voice -- make it read things. this is not how this app works. instead it tries to force a bunch of unwelcome AI garbage down your throat at sign up. it asks you a bunch of useless questions. I didn't even complete the setup. an app that reads text out loud should be simple. this is textbook over designed bad user experience. do not use. bad onboarding lost them a customer
very disappointed!! the commercial are FALSE! You can not scan a book or a barcode and read the book. you have to scan EVERY PAGE! Who has time for that!?! I was SO excited for this app because I have tons of physical books in my library that I really would love to be able to "read"(listen to). But this app truly disappoints!
