Choosing the store isn't straightforward. also, inability to pay by credit card is a big downer. you are only allowed to charge your account, which leaves your ballance on number that's useless. This forces you to charge again and have some money in your account at all times. changing your order items is also difficult. You have to remove and add another item every time you want to change anything.
I've gone through the password recovery process like three times. Jump through all the hoops and still won't let me log in with the password. Garbage experience. I guess you just get to keep my money.
I can't register my gift cards to my phone suddenly
Can not update payment info, no matter which credit card I use, even though current credit card on file is from the US. It says to talk to my bank, and Chase says there is no issue on their end. No option to use alternative payment methods (PayPal, GPay) as default like in the US version. Don't understand how a company as big as Starbucks can't make a consistent app and user experience across different regions.

No English. In 2023, you don't have an app in multiple languages as if no foreigners live in Japan. LOL!
Can we get the menu in English as well? Like the navigation is in English but the entire menu and placing order is in Japanese. There are foreigners in Japan you know who would like to use it, ffs. I have to take screenshot of every selection and go back then select. Then take screenshot again to translate it from Google image translation and go back to the app to select the option. Would be nice to have all English option :)

Worse experience. No english menu. I go to starbucks. They tell me to download the app to get the rewards. And then when i want to pay they tell my i cant get points unless i do something in the app. So troublesome. Waste of time and not well explained. Trap for customers.
Really complicated to use...using gift cards I received was a huge hassle, especially when the balance wasn't enough to get the drink I wanted, a huge hassle.

No English support so I mistakenly ordered the wrong drink. It's difficult to accurately locate the store when you are indoors like at a train station or underground like in the subway walkway all over Tokyo
Language barrier it's not completely in english.
It is sad for an international company such as Starbucks to have such and inconvenient app. With the language barrier that foreigners face in Japan, the app should be able to translate to English in an effort to make life easier for foreigners and the Japanese barristers. Please get your act together, Starbucks Japan!!

can't log in they use your personal information as a pseudo password so if you give false info and don't remember they lock you out.
Starbucks still uses single-use plastic when everybody else has switched to recycled wooden straws and paper caps.
The app keep saying to check the credentials of my credit card even if there's enough to charge it... Totally useless app.

I was signed out of the app and now I can't sign back in, even though the same usename/password work on the regular site.
驚くほど使いにくい。お気に入りに登録しようとするも、どうやっても登録できずに通信中で終わる。会員登録したのも後悔するほど。スタバに行こうと思ってアプリを入れたが、スタバはこういう適当な物しか作れないのかと思うとコーヒーも大したことないんだろうなと思い、行くことを辞めた。多分行かない。

I can't change the language to English and the app requires too much personal information for account registration. It's also buggy. Wish things were a bit simpler. I shouldn't need to give so much private data and agree to such long ToS to buy coffee using a card...

Not useful at all...Longtime without working properly I decided to delete and reinstall it again. But after this I cannot log in anymore. Even inserting the correct password. It is a shame for a company like Starbuks in Japan have this kind of app.
Why the rewards are not showing on the home tab anymore
The app is not intuitive to use and it does not translate everything.
Fix the issue with Authentication token refresh. It's annoying when you need to close and reopen the app every time. Use location altitude to show up and down marks for stores below or above you. Add favorite sets of goods for quick order. Add panel/button for quick order of favorite set of goods at favorite store in one click.
