I use hone assistant for everything and don't need this Tado app just for the radiors. The OAuth stuff is also super annoying, need manually login every day or so. Oh yeah and your navigation os broken btw, can't navigate back or click the close button to go to home overview.
horrible devices and app: 1) extremely expensive for broken functionality and battery life, 2) connectivity is ONLY via the main antenna - thermostats do not create a mesh so your radiators will be out of range, 3) third party integration, while advertised, breaks every couple of months because of token expirations. none of these issues have solutions, aside from "upgrade to our new products for €500". Save yourself and buy any alternative for half the price.

Updated - over a year later the app is clunky and more unreliable than ever. Random setting changes. broken Auto Assist is unreliable at best. Random manual changes and they also break auto assist. First warning is a cold house. It's barely functional.
whatever you do, do not buy from Tado. Their customer service is non existent and they deliberately make it impossible to contact them. I am stuck in an endless loop trying to send my devices back but there is no way to do it. Rip off.
latest update made a bad system worse. DO NOT BUY Tado, radiators randomly coming on but not scheduled. this has been an intermittent issue since I first bought the system 3 years ago. I have not saved any money, it's wasting heating oil. I bought 8 trv's for nearly €1000 and am now only using 5 and the rest are traditional trv's.....oh, and now support is AI...
AI features pushed without asking for 8 days once account is created. (and can't be deactivated) AI decided to shut down heaters for no reasons. Onboarding and documentation missing the right moment/format (pieces in the app, on the web, or even in PDF, 2026 guys, a PDF 🤦🏻♂️). You can tell the app was made by marketers and developers, and the designers were not heard. Having to scan a QR Code on a Matter compatible device while Google Home detected it on its own. The app is a disappointment.
Utterly disappointed in how Tado handles 3rd party integration. Makes life hell for anyone using Home Assistant.
Terrible app if you want to use it with home assistant, it's requiring you to re-authenticate on almost daily basis and sometimes more than once per day. I will get rid of all the thermometers
Why can't I connect other third-party devices to the Matter bridge? Where can I find the bridge password? Also, if I try to add Tado to Google Home, it says there are no compatible devices, while the Tado app shows all of them.
With incompatability between x and v3 i cant even have different homes for one account or even have two accounts i can easily swotch between... Incompatability is ok... But no reason for the app to handle it im such an archaic way
looks like usability is being limited once again for home assistant users. I would not recommend tado anymore to anyone. You buy a product and then they change the rules. really unfortunate because it used to be everything I needed. They are losing many customers this way.
Terrible company, keep away from them. First they started to hide basic features behind a subscription paywall, and now they added a limit of 100 API calls per day, causing my Home Assistant installation to lose access to Tado devices once I reached the ridiculously low API limit. I don't want to freeze, so I'm binning all your devices and going to some other brand.
return this a buy something more consumer friendly. constantly increasing restrictions on the hardware I paod for in full barely usable now. simple things like linking hot water AND heating are not available in the app and MUST be done elsewhere like home assistant, but they effectively blocked that now 3 years later. not the same product
Tado TRV (Smart Radiator Thermostat X) valves do not modulate whatsoever. They stay 100% closed until the difference reaches nearly +2 °C, then snap open to maximum. No fine proportional control at +0.5 or +1 °C - they act like a cheap binary relay, not a smart thermostat. This causes major delays, aggressive overheating, and temperature swings. Support completely ignores the real issue and keeps sending the same nonsense. Expensive, poorly designed, doesn't deliver what it promises. AVOID.

First, they changed every user experience by introducing a subscription to pay for their services, and now they want to go for a rate limit of 100 api calls per day. Today, my system even malfunctioned, causing my house to use 3 times the amount of gas because the tado system kept telling my boiler and floor heating to continue.
I think the app is okay and the thermostat works, but the most basic "smart" features are behind a paywall. Any savings that the "adaptive heating" may bring are offset by the subscription that doesn't include anything above basic functionality. In addition, the matter compatibility is fairly useless, as any change in temperature halts the schedule and requires opening the app to resume it manually. If a setting is added that forces matter updates to respect the schedule I might consider 2 stars
not very easy to use
An app and service that are astonishingly frustrating at every level. Customer support is infuriating-no live chat, only slow email .shocking lack of competence, usability, and respect for their customers. Tado AI makes you waste even more fuel. you set room temp to 20 Degrees ,it stops at 18 and may start again 1 hour later, the radiator valve starts closing before temp is reached shortening you BOILER PUMP's LIFESPAN. STAY AWAY. I'm burning more fuel than I ever did before.
Aunque el hardware parece de calidad, es indignante que funciones de análisis energético (Energy IQ) y estadísticas de consumo de gas estén bloqueadas tras un muro de pago mensual. Venden un producto 'inteligente' para ahorrar, pero te impiden ver el análisis de eficiencia y las gráficas históricas si no pagas una suscripción. Muy decepcionado con este modelo de negocio que penaliza al usuario que busca eficiencia real.
For 4 years update after update and all we are told is Various UI, stability and performance improvements. My Hydronic Underfloor Heating system seems to just get worse and worse and need more manual intervention. Tado promises so much and delivers so little.
The heating sometimes turns on outside of the scheduled time. It drives me mad, I honestly don't understand why this is happening. we usually find out because we wake up at 3am sweating. I am currently going around the house feeding my children extra water because the heating was on full blast.. even though my timer said it out to have switched off twelve hours ago. the only solution is for me to actively switch the heating on and off on the app rather than rely on the timer
it failed after 2 and a half months , shame on google nest for recommendig it for europe customers .
Doesn't connect to Google Home
App keeps wanting open in the browser, and doesn't work with Internet Explorer. Tried in Chrome then it wouldn't recognise the password so had to setup a new account!
Most of the things work only with paid subscription. Very bad approach. Cannot even check before midnight temperature data, basically a few minutes ago. mean, very mean.
Horrible customer service. You can't talk to any humans and the robot is useless. I've ordered a kit, they've taken my money, but now there's no update since then. And there's no way of checking where it is or how long it will take for the kit to arrive.

I bought a Tado thermostat mainly to control heating remotely, but it’s not truly “smart.” If you set a target temperature for 8:00, it only starts heating at 8:00 instead of learning when to start so the room reaches that temperature by then. It also shuts off only after hitting the target, causing the room to overshoot. A smart thermostat would anticipate both. I don’t see how Tado helps save on heating costs.

Update on the slow response with the boiler which has been fixed on the server side of tado. Still weird that this issue depends on a remote server. The app itself is mediocre and annoying. The slider to change the temperature is terrible. Very difficult to set the desired temperature because the slider is so sensitive. Also for what you pay you would expect more than just only 1 day history. Furthermore the intrusive ads to push the AI assist is really annoying.
Frustrating UI.
The app was great when set up initially (4,5 out of 5 stars), but when I invited an additional user the app reset and I was kicked out of my own home. Now it does not even recognise I have a Tado device in the house, while the additional person only sees the basic setup, not the schedules I had set up already.
even on the paid version there needs to be a feature showing who changed the temperature. when given access to multiple people it's hard to see who changed anything.
Could be 5* but can't seem to get the Temperature Device onto the app therefore heating comes on when it pleases. Asked for help but never got any !
The intrusive push for subscription payments undermines an otherwise good product. The latest, animated and non hidable "smart automation" link pasted in to the top of the home screen isn't just awful design, it undermines trust in a product and service I have already paid for. I suspect I'll be looking to go fully local through Home Assistant in the future. I'm already having issues with expiring tokens with HASS and this more aggressive push for subs is plain enshittification.
