my biggest criticism of the game is that they just hate free players. more than any other gacha game, this game has incredibly slow currency earn, incredibly low pull rates, and a need for redundant pulls. it's considered tanking your account to pull without at least 30k on a desired banner. if you're okay playing without any progression at all, it's a fine game. is you want to feel like you're progressing, pay up or move on

This game is SO MUCH LARGER than it promotes itself to be. It was to the point that my phone started malfunctioning due to low storage. The tutorial is way too hand-holding, telling you to make choices on things without letting you actually choose anything. It doesn't explain why you're choosing these things either. To call it a game (at least in this first impression) is generous. It's mainly cutscenes. It was promoted more as a simulator than a story, so I expected that. I suppose not.

Even if you play 24/7 they will have much bigger advantage. Stay out of this game until they remove botting oportunities. Then i will update this review.
Very pay2win either spend 20h a day grinding or you have low chance of competing with real players without paying
Game doesn't launch, goodbye my umas 😭
The game is okay. A bit winded and repetitive but was fun to play with the kids. The one star. Went to link my account after making a purchase and the game created a new account. Support is abysmal. Edit: came back to see if anything changed, how did they make it worse? The matchmaking is atrocious if you're doing anything other than solo. It's a bunch of bots, cheaters, hackers, and when matchmaking matches you with anything you automatically lose regardless. This game is absolute trash.
I played this game every day for a year despite some below average luck with pulls. then the Trackblazer update came out which turned the game in to a long RNG slog. careers more than doubled in game length and the game made no attempt to tell you what tactics you should be doing to win. uninstalled and have no interest in returning because as with all gacha games its impossible to catch up once you stop playing.
not recommendation for F2P, save ur life before getting suffer like me back then

If you love your life, do NOT play this game. This game (unlike the JP verison) is repetitive. You only have 3 scenarios(JP has 13! THIRTEEN SCENARIOS!) and it feels like there's nothing to do. You have to PRAY you even get lucky. Being F2P in this game is like asking to be hanged. The RNG is INSANE. Unless you're willing to spend over a hundred dollars on this game, I don't recommend it F2P wise or just play the JP version.
For as much fun as the game can be, and for as interesrting the stories and characters are, there's just too much connection issues, P2W (gacha rates are genuinely one of the worst I've seen) and RNG (RNG just to even get good cards just to play, RNG for career runs, RNG for sparks and parents, and RNG in the races) for me to be able to say I enjoy this game most of the time. Trackblazer Update: Boring, tedious, does not respect the player's time in the least
I played to see my horses run. If I wanted to gamble I would've went to an actual horse racecourse.
Update: The game still just gives a connection error screen, no matter the internet. using Samsung s25 ultra on home internet.
Takes too long to even do dailies with every new scenario, so it's no wonder the playerbase will diminish. Not to mention consistently horrible career RNG to the point I'm convinced it's rigged and nothing can change my mind. Thanks, c(AI)games.
Good Animations and Characters. Gameplay horrible to say the least. Stats, Skills and Mood can all be in your favor, but you still can lose to others despite them having way less stats, skills and mood. Basically, the Game can suddenly decide you lose a race and you cannot do anything about it. Update: You still can lose the race even with 4 reset clocks and even with opponents with stats less than you. Lost to horses with less than 500 stats point. Conditions will hinder you out of nowhere.
Been crashing more often lately.
Was waiting for YEARS to play this in the States, had a wonderful time until the studio began using GEN-AI. Never uninstalled something I genuinely wanted to play for years faster than I did with Uma. Really disheartened and disappointed in the studio's decision, especially when this game has been so helpful worldwide to learning all about the horses.
Not rewarding enough, meta-heavy, expensive gacha and in-app purchases, expensive material item prices. The gameplay is boring and grind heavy. Every single event is just "play more career mode for rewards," with zero uniqueness. Honestly, this game just screams laziness and greed. Even FGO has better event variety and way more rewarding, heck even something like NTE or HSR is more rewarding than this game.

Charismatic characters and overall aesthetic appeal don't compensate for the RNG-heavy gameplay and lack of meaningful player agency - no matter how much you plan a given build, it all comes down to sheer luck. Everything is subject to chance, from stats gains and skill unlocks to race outcomes - I once entered one as fav #1, but finished in 17th place, then restarted and won, go figure… BTW, with Cygames embarking on the AI bandwagon, I'm now reluctant to support their products.
Game freezing even in basic graphics, Unplayable. 🥀
Keep froze during loading and gameplay. Someone on Reddit said that this game was optimized when playing using phone with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, or something like that. Please fix this a.s.a.p as I can't play it very well now. Thanks in advance

a good overall experience but the fact you need to download 10Gb and wait is soo frustrating and you still need to download the song then there's the progress even tho the storyline good but the Uma or card progress is slow and you need a good internet so the game can connect to server faster.. :(
The writing doesn't respect its own characters, and the number of times you go on dates with children is concerning.

Insane time commitment requirement. if you want to be competitive it is at least 1h+ per day, in reality probably around 10h per week minimum (+2-3h research and guides) as an F2P (being a whale doesn't help much tbh) Until they implement autorun feature this is a no, the problem is that by that time you will likely fall behind the player who continues playing and will lose to them in the CMs. 1h+ because you need fans to be in the top500 club to get a good amount of rewards. I am not into that
I've been playing the game for a long time now and my only concern rn is the optimizations for newer phones. My game kept freeze frame or crashing despite having a strong processor.

I really enjoyed the game until two updates ago. Every other game including the open world gachas run smoothly on the highest settings meanwhile Umamusume constantly crashes and freezes. I really hope something can be done, I miss playing it
