The lack of reviews says a lot. This app had great potential, but it’s been derailed by poor vision, a misunderstanding of its users, and a touch of greed. The one star is just for the idea itself.
What? I've heard so much about this community, and really wanted to register so that I could help out and host people. Downloaded the app and need to pay £30 before I can even register. Total scam. It should be free to host. You'll kill this community with your greed.
Complete waste of time
just a terrible app. mine froze up and was confusing too. bring back the old way of communicating folks. Have hosted for over 15 years and never had this problem.
Really slow and many bugs. Great idea but not implemented well. I literally have to close and open the app to send a message or leave a review. I have lost countless hours due to this and have literally lost sleep because of it. It's such a shame as it's a great idea and brings people together.

30€ one time payment is a scam! they catch you with a one time subscription which would be a good thing but after 30 days you have to pay monthly or you can just host and not ask for places to stay. its ridiculous how bad this app became. definitely DONT recommend!!
costs over $50 just to register before you can even look at what the app even does. seems like a scam.
A $30 "join fee" in order to even make an account is beyond ridiculous. "Non-profit" Yeah right. I'm literally looking to get a shower before heading into a Colorado court--so I may file to have your non-profit status investigated and/or revoked while I'm there--time to pay tax on all those earnings.
I paid the annual usd 17,99 subscription to be able to send requests to host and the app ask me to pay again email sent to customer service and no answer
it doesn't work good, i paid, but after 1month my account has been deleted. no option to share a public trip to ask to be hosted to more people. The idea is super please fix the problems and update whole the app, it works like Windows 95

Please go back to old app functionality, if at all possible. Warmshowers is a great community and as a host I'd love to be quick to respond, but you're making it so hard with this. For start, allow reading messages without constantly confirming I'm in a host mode ! Please, Please ..

I toured Europe last summer for a couple of months and unfortunately this application was completely worthless. As others have noted, the majority of the hosts are either non-responsive or not presently hosting, making finding someone to stay with, at the least time consuming, but generally impossible. From my experience as a long-time member, the old version, although not great, was better than the garbage they have now.
What the hell? I pay 30€ for a lifetime fee "pay once" and now the app requires a subscription? Thanks for destroying what used to be a beautiful app with wonderful people for more money...
Warm showers is a great community, but this app is terrible. It is completely unstable and crashes constantly. Use the desktop website instead!!!!
It's basically broken. Keeps reattaching to location services and draining my battery. The mobile website is much better. Please take this app down, warm showers
Warm Showers hosts are great. The app , less so. Performs very badly on weak internet connection. Tries to load massive map before giving access to messages. Fine for cities, not so good in more remote areas. Can't copy text from app ( e.g. to translate ). Full of dead and unresponsive profiles. Terrible search options require you to filter through mounds of junk profiles. Gets worse the more they work on it. Buggy messaging, weird and inconsistent hosting confirmation, buggy email messaging

Update: Just use the desktop version instead of the app. The app pretty much crash all the time. Worst app ever. Love warmshower idea and the hosts and happy to pay for the fee. But very buggy app, I been on the road for a couple month and sometime it works well but slow. But a few time, the host site is down and a few missing messages notification emails. I think the slow thing is the worst, it takes forever to load up the points and the inbox messages.
No refund, small amount of hosts, 30$ wasted, do not recommend
Wait... I've paid $30 to sign up. I make an annual donation to the community, and I still need to pay $20 a year to use the app? Something's off... This 'company' is going the way of Couchsurfing which I've been boycotting for the past five years. Naturally, this app remained installed on my phone for less than two minutes.
I joined Warm Showers a month ago, and I paid $30 to join. I got the phone app, and the app wants me to pay $19.99 per year, or $2.99 per month. Is this right? Seems like I am being double-billed. ==> Update 7/22/2024: Warm Showers confirmed that WS members get 1 month free, then you have to pay to keep the app working. That should be disclosed up front. It says "In-App Purchases", but my experience is that those are for extra services, not for basic functionality.
I paid my $30 last year , but no one ever replied to my requests, and I'm certainly not going to spend another 30 dollars for nothing! This app is rather difficult to manage, I find

Not a good app. Makes you pay for trying to access details..pretty slimy considering it's an app for showers. Everyone deserve to have basic hygiene without adding more complications to it.
Unusable, whenever I start it up it just goes white
I'm very unhappy with this app. I have tried to edit my profile several times. yes I clicked the save button! I have also tried to message prospective hosts but I have no idea if the messages actually sent. Warm showers was a good idea but if I've to pay a subscription and the app still doesn't work it's a total waste
This feels like a scam. The app already cost me €30 and is useless unless you also pay €3,09 per month.
Buggy at best and completely unusable at worst. App frequently crashes or won't load properly. Even when performing normally, the functionality is poor. There are no meaningful filters for hosts when searching on the map. There's no meaningful filter for messages with hosts or guests. Finally, the option to edit a planned stay with hosts never worked. It's a true shame that such a wonderful community has to suffer such a terrible interface. WarmShowers should actually pay a software developer.
Can't log into my existing account, so it's totally useless.
First I registered for 30$ now they want extra 18$ for annual subscription for a non working app, this is nothing just a milking cow for the developers. The idea is brilliant the app is the complete opposite. 9 from 10 accounts are abandoned, and ther is no way to tell which one, you just keep messaging and no answer. App is terrible, slow, glitchy, it usually works 40-50% of the time. Doesnt load in at all, no hosts on the map, messages delayed by 12 hours.
What's happening? I can see the requests in the online account, but not in the app? I am a host. Also, I do not get e-mail notifications anymore. Can you please fox this?

The community is great, but since the update the app stopped working, I have limit of profile space and i dont get any notification in my email anymore of requests. Please either go back to the prefious system or fox this issues as they make use of the platform horrible. I am hosting for years but stuff like this makes people stop or move to other platforms. Thanks

Works once, then does not take inputs. Uninstalled, reinstalled, same result - works once. The old Warm Showers app worked flawlessly.

Absolutely pisses me off that a site advertised as free is a rip off forcing you to pay continuously and is useless as it performs horribly and provides little to no help at all. THIS APP IS A SCAM !! >:(
