Not recommend. Full of ads and distractions. Over the top windows interfere with normal use. I have paid for the cameras I want to use. Leave me alone. Horrible user experience compared to Ring cameras and others. Will not buy its cameras again.

The ads delay the viewing of the camera so long someone can break in by the time you can view the camera. The only way to get rid of the ads is to do a subscription. They didn't use to be like that. Its sad that they got so money hungry. The cameras worked really well. No I will be looking for something better.

Cancelling the subscription is almost impossible. Had to get my bank to step in and stop the payment. The subscription is robbery, just get a ring.

Worst home security app on the market. Cant access security cameras when needed because ads get in the way causing at least a minute of delay. Want to swap cameras, another minute. They purposefully kill the ability to use SD cards. I will be throwing out all my cameras and replacing with something else.
Bad, terrible, disgusting company. I reverted to an older version and it works just fine. I'd also recommend anyone using these cameras to get the modded open source firmware for them off GitHub, as it removes the need for their dog water cloud service.
too many ads and by the time I was able to view my cammera my air compressor was stolen
horrible. had bought 6 cameras totally unusable. the amount of ads is not natural which renders the whole thing useless. the whole thing is a scam. even their prices are way higher than others and 5he experience became untenable. don't get this product nor its app.
Ads Everywhere. I recently reinstalled the app after years of not using it, to use a camera we've had in storage. This company has changed dramatically. You literally cannot use the camera you already paid for without being bombarded with unskippable ads. Just to see the video feed for more than 30 seconds at a time, Boom! Ads appear. The app even opened up AliExpress on my phone automatically and started pulling up NSFW content on my phone. This app should be removed from the Play Store!
Great hardware, but even with an SD card in the camera you have to pay to watch the play back / alert or endure adverts, remind me why I spent all that money buying the cameras that have a paywall...? You can buy better for less

Up until latest update this would have and has been a 5. But you add ads to your app? I had to buy the cameras in order to use the app. Why are you putting ads in it? What a cheap and lousy thing to do. I've probably sold dozens of your cameras to people. Lose the ads or you'll lose customers. I switched to competitor with no ads because they make enough money off their cameras and don't see fit to screw people.
Ads make it unusable. Ads when you open it, Ads when you select a camera, now Ads that prevent you viewing anything, then after 5 seconds, another ad pops up
I let the subscription lapse and have been appalled at the adverts that have subsequently appeared. I was considering renewing, but any company that thinks it is OK to make an app entirely unusable due to the volume and intrusiveness of adverts is not going to get another £ from me.
This is a FRAUD COMPANY. The Cameras they sell are advertised as not needing a SUBSCRIPTION PLAN. After a few months, none of them would work unless you buy their subscription plan. Regardless, the APP IS JUST A MEDIUM TO SEND YOU ANNOYING ADS AND VIOLATING YOUR PRIVACY.
Bad can't cancel plan
I should not have to watch ads for a device purchased. or be forced to buy a cloud program. that is why all my other cameras are a different brand. it takes 5 minutes to watch a 30 second recorded clip I have on my SD card
What's with all the adverts
You have to watch an ad to look at the camera you freaking paid for. this is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. I will do my job to make sure everybody I know never purchase any products from you you monsters
Used to be great app, now its just milking ads everywhere and subscription. Purchased by mistake, already requested cancellation so many times but got offered discount instead. Rejected the discount, and the CS didnt reply anymore. Such a shame & poor marketing strategy

Plays intrusive adds on starup if you don't have a paid subscription. Go with a different brand.
Absolutely not recommended. Cameras are not easily accessible unless you pay for subscription. Free requires watching an ad before you can look at camera screen, not at all helpful if you are out and need immediate visual access.

riddled with ads
I had to update my rating to one star. When opening the app, ads pop out to continue, and there's no way to skip them unless you pay. If security is their priority, by reducing how soon someone can view their live feeds, they are failing.
The app used to work perfectly, but after the updates, it's been loaded with ads. To open the app, ad. To check the cameras, ad. To view the notifications, ad. I recommended this system to quite a few friends so I'm disappointed in what it's become. Please fix this issue. 6/24/2026: The app is flooded with ads. TRASH!
tons of adverts, toooooons
The app itself is okay, but in the past year, they started adding ads, which I find strange and extremely annoying. As far as I know, this is the only app of its kind that has ads. I won't be buying anymore Yi Camera for this reason. update: the app is unusable now. A LOT more ads now, and they come every few seconds. I'm never buying subscription. I paid for the cameras, I expect the app to be free to use. I'm done with this company
The onslaught of advertisements even opening the Yi app & clicking on anything is absurd. Every time you try to click something an ad pops up & routes you to checkout services w/out even selecting anything, the app is deliberately designed to make unauthorized / fraudulent purchases. An ad to watch EACH 6 SECOND video for SD STORAGE is insane. Return / Throw this junk in the trash! Search no subscription home security. Five of the best: 1) Tapo 2) Eufy 3) Aqara 4) ReoLink 5) Ubiquiti / UniFi
Useless app riddled with ads. spent minutes navigating ads. Could drive home and see what's going on quicker than going through the ads.
You pay for the camera and you are forced into watching a ad when you first login, look into eufy cameras. until this changes i cannot recommend it. app has only gotten worse its ads non stop. if you want a good camera and not have to deal with this non sense look at Eufy
I bought your stupid cameras for the most basic possible security coverage available at the time without arbitrary subscription services. Now 67 clicks to decline "premium' trash, i can't seem to access even the most basic features.

I have to cross my fingers and sit through ads hoping the app will work so I can check my cameras. Terrible service and switching asap.
this was a good camera to use until they started running multiple ads and it's very difficult now to get to the camera on time to check on security. look for a new camera.

This app is straight trash. Nothing but multi step ads that you can't clear easily every time you change screens. Frustrating to the hilt. You're better off finding a different app/service.
Purchased 5 Yi Home cameras expecting a reliable security system. After investing in this product, I am extremely disappointed with the service.Without a subscription, viewing live cameras is frustrating. Users are bombarded with repeated advertisements and long waiting times just to access their own cameras. After watching multiple ads, you may only get a few seconds of viewing before the ads appear again.Customers paid for cameras should have access to basic features.I do not recommend this.
