Super disappointed
It is just another mobile game like Kingshot, clash of kings, puzzles and empires etc. not at all like the classics beloved Age of Empires. Just uninstalled.

Not a age of empires game
Nothing like any other age of empires game
Pay to win
I played for a year. There are a lot of fun elements, similar to Rise of Kingdoms. And i enjoy the camaraderie within my alliance. However, the game developers got greedy and introduced tiers 8 and 9, turning whales into krakens and making it impossible for free to mid spenders to compete (I was spending a decent $amount in the game and lots of hours per day/week). Even worse, they failed to change the one poor design element they put into this game, which is not having a safe space for your city from enemy marches. So every week in the weekly Golden Expeditions or Mightiest Empire, these Tier 8 krakens roam around in your territory, easily sacking your city destroying your troops and stealing your resources. It’s ruined what was a fun game experience.

The game is nothing like the original age of empires.
The mobile game is literally TopWar with different graphics. Almost Identical mechanics and gameplay.

This Is Absolutely NOT Age of Empires
This game has virtually nothing to do with the original Age of Empires games. It’s just a traditional base building mobile game with special characters you ultimately have to pay for. They could have ported Age of Empires II and I would have been happy to pay for it. But this is a joke of a game that involves you just making upgrades as your instructed to do them with no real choice. “Upgrade this now….now this….now this…buy this character to defeat the attackers.” They utilize some of the design language of AoE and sounds, but the gameplay is nothing like it.

It’s Not Age of Empires
The only similarity this has with the rest of the well acclaimed RTS series is the name. Gameplay is not similar at all. It’s merely a Rise of Kingdoms clone with the same amount of paywalls, TikTok gameplay pacing, and microtransactions. Save yourself and don’t play it. Just find the actual game on GoG or Steam and play there. You’ll have a much better time than playing this cash grab slop.
Shame on you
I was excited to play this classic RTS on mobile, but I can’t even download it because you deliberately excluded the Russian Federation from your region list. This has nothing to do with technical limitations-it’s a petty political decision driven by current events. By doing this, you’re shutting out tens of millions of Russian gamers who love the Age of Empires franchise.
Gaming is meant to unite people, not serve as a platform for political grievances. Leave politics out of it. You’ve lost my respect and my potential money. Fix this and stop punishing innocent players for things beyond their control.

Avoid if yo like the actual AOE
This is a pay to win monotonous app cosplaying as Age of Empires, which has nothing to do with AoE. It employs false advertising leaning on AoE nostalgia to lure in costumers. It is disgraceful and deceptive! This app should be taken down.

This app has virtually no resemblance to AOE in any of its iterations. Not sure what this is but calling it AOE is completely misleading.

This is not Age of Empires. This is some weird mobile MMORPG like Clans. I wonder how much they paid to license the name and not recreate the actual game. Make a single player version of this and I’ll be back.

This is one of those paywall games, where you build your town, and upgrade your characters. Its so boring! AOE is a game, where you just build your town, and infantry, and attack people on their side of the map, exploring maps for resources, and taking over more land. This?? Its just expansion, after upgrade, then expansion, then upgrade. Its not fun! Its like an automatic, upgrade screenplay. If I wanted this kind of game, I’d play Vikings Rise, which was way more fun.
Garbage day came late
This is an abomination of the age of empires franchise. It takes everything that made age of empires great (hardcore historical rts) and throws it away for a hyper casual idle clicker. For gods sake just port the original RTS game to touch controls. That’s what people really want. Otherwise what’s the point of licensing the franchise?

Never ending updates 5+ updates a week why? It’s literally the worst part of the game update after update after update get it together
Can’t get passed tutorial without app crashing
Says it works on my iPhone 12 but it doesn’t. The first “battle” was just frozen video with the fight sounds playing over it. Shortly after that the crashing started and phone was getting pretty hot.

I downloaded Age of Empires Mobile because I was hoping for something similar to the original Age of Empires that many of us grew up playing. Unfortunately, this game is completely different and heavily pay-to-win.
If you enjoy competing, you’ll quickly discover that meaningful competition is nearly impossible without spending large amounts of money. The game is dominated by whales and krakens who can wipe out your entire castle and troops in seconds during PvP events if you aren’t constantly protected by a shield.
This creates a frustrating experience not only for free-to-play players but even for those who spend moderately. Skill, strategy, and activity often take a back seat to spending power. The lack of balance makes the game far less enjoyable than it could be.
If the developers placed reasonable limits on spending advantages and focused more on competitive balance, Age of Empires Mobile would be a much better game. Instead, the current system appears designed to encourage unlimited spending at the expense of fair gameplay.

Not as Advertised / Addictive / Pay for Advantage

In addition, it has a very addictive model. It is designed to keep the player in near-constant engagement (even when you're not playing, you have to be thinking about time to completion for everything and planning when you'll next get on). There's no way to sit down for a couple hours and enjoy this game and then get up and live real life without taking the game with you.
Furthermore, it has a pay-for-advantage model. The game starts you off with enough boosts and protections that you use them freely and become reliant on them, so that when you run out, you're incentivised to pay real money for more. I feel this makes the playing field quite unfair and no fun for people who aren't ok with draining their bank accounts.
I detest games like this. And someone had the audacity to slap the name of a legendary and timeless game on it to draw more attention. Don't waste your time. Go play the real Age of Empires.

Full of AI slop, pay to win, not like the original
I was hoping for a authentic nostalgic experience and was disappointed by the ai artwork and voices and the dumbed down gameplay

Not AoE at all
The videos and ads showed Age of Empires II gameplay and I thought they ported it to mobile which was exciting! Instead, they cloned The Lord of the Rings: War and others and took a beloved IP and made it something completely different. If you like those types of mobile games, you’ll like this, but it’s not Age of Empires.

Loved these games growing up and they’ve left a legacy. This game just doesn’t feel like it. Sure it’s a medieval strategy game. But it doesn’t really capture the feel of age of empires. Guess I expected different. But this is not the namesake.

Im a 10 year old and on App Store it says age is 9+ so I downloaded the game and put in my date of birth the game said it was 18+ and im like why tho it’s 9+!? So apple or game devs plz fix that cus my mom even recommended the game to me too.
