Junk

Laggy
I am ordered to use this app. My child had an allergy attack and since we are ordered to use this app the other parent was messaging me and I had NO IDEA because I didn’t get the messages or alerts until 24 hours later. I checked the app throughout the day when my child is over there and it showed nothing. Now I have to pay monthly for this app that doesn’t even work. I want to be reimbursed for the last few months until this app is fixed properly!
Won’t verify my account no one is helping
I have been trying to get my account verified in order to use the “ipayou” feature, but it keeps saying my DOB on my ID does not match my account. I even tried deleting the original account and starting over, but it brought me right back to the same place. I have tried reaching out several times, but no one is helping me to resolve this issue. This is the worst customer support I’ve ever experienced. If you have other options out there, DO NOT USE THIS APP. Unfortunately I do not.
Notifications don’t work
The lock screen and Notification Center banners only show a generic message received notification. There is no way to read messages through the notification, like you would a normal text. You can only read them by opening the app.
Bait and switch
They wait until they get courts to mandate it for thousands of users because it’s free and then they charge money.
It’s not even a good app and paying a subscription doesn’t get you any additional features. No AI to help send messages. Calendars are confusing and hard to use. The whole thing is just a really really bad user experience.

Their customer service is 🗑️
Find a better communication app, when something goes wrong they leave you in the dark and offer very little assistance.
Hopeless customer service, constant glitches
I have never been so infuriated by a service/product’s flaws and by the company’s failure to address any of my problems clearly and swiftly. They offer only email support, and those in that role struggle both to parse YOUR written communications and certainly to respond clearly in writing themselves. You’d think that because the app is so hopelessly buggy and because support is so limited, they’d surely offer a library of screen recorded video tutorials, but they do not. I dropped a bunch of money I don’t have for a worse than average texting mechanism and…nope…that’s it. Nothing else worked properly, and no one helped me resolve any of issues. Number one parenting app? Lol. Don’t bother, anyone considering it. It’s a scam.
Non operable
This app makes hard work out of what it’s supposed to do, sometimes picture is blurry or you can’t hear anything, I have submitted my details for payment numerous times and they still can’t seem to receive it, they also don’t answer emails when you inquire about the subscription problems.
Don’t use! Use other options
Horrible! No customer service. Multiple charges stay away use Family Wizard
Same(…,.,,) thing
Doesnt work . The one star is for the review.
Made everything worse.
Absolutely the perfect tool for parental isolation.
Garbage now
This app was court ordered/recommended and when we started it was great! Now they completely redid it and charge a fortune to use it! I speak to my ex 2 maybe 3 times a month and I refuse to pay 10 bucks a month for that. Total waste of money now and ex agreed. DONT NOT BUY THIS OR DOWNLAOD IT.
Money grab
Forced by court to download this app for co parenting. Now 3 years later I have to pay for it… sad that this went from helping parents to stealing from them when they are already struggling.
Needs fix!!!
The app constantly shows 1 notification and the message never changes to read even after I open and respond. It also doesn’t notify me of calls or messages.
Notification that will not go away
I've been using this app for almost 2 years now, and all of a sudden, within the last couple weeks, I have a notification on my AppClose icon that will not go away, no matter what I do, it’s driving me nuts! I've contacted customer service and they haven’t done anything.
I’m running iOS 26.3.1
Anyone else having this problem? It keeps showing I have an unread notification, however, I’ve read all the messages, but it still shows a notification icon.

Paying for this?
AppClose began charging me to use this app on Jan 1 2026. I have no idea what I’m paying for. It’s extremely clunky, paying each other is a pain, and it doesn’t connect to Siri. Total rip off and it’s one of the only court approved messenger apps available. Basically they have us hostage.
Disgusting
Making the app a pay by month service after making so many families dependent on it is sick.
The worst app
I’ve never seen a less intuitive and more difficult app.
Payment Doesn’t Work; Calendar Doesn’t Work; Not Worth It
This was fine when it was free… sort of. The calendar has never worked well with schedules that don’t fit the developer’s little boxes. Now the payment doesn’t work because they say my DOB on their app and my DOB on my license don’t match (even though they do). Then they started charging, further decreasing the value of the application. There are free ways to do the same thing built into your iPhone. This isn’t worth it.
Hello? Hello? Is anyone there???
There is absolutely no customer support at all. I’ve been sending emails since December and I’ve got no response. They forced you to pay a subscription but you can’t talk to a person when a question or concern arrives? And this is the number 1 app??? Shane Shane Shane. I will not recommend this app
Scam…..
A completely waste of money and time at first, the app was free for thousands and thousands of parents and I agreed to using it because that’s what the other parent wanted and the judge said yeah that’s fine to use it so now I have it in my parenting plan to use this app and half of the time it doesn’t work but all the parents that we’re on here that now have this app in a court order pay for it where it was free and this app is completely unnecessary. You could get all documents tax through your cellular data plan or provider and if the other parent it
becomes hostile. What’s this app gonna do absolutely nothing you can block people on your phone with or without this app if it becomes hostile it really doesn’t make any sense to have this app when you can have all the proof at your fingertips anytime you want through your cellular plan it’s easy to export data. This app is just more of a violation of privacy than anything and half of the time it doesn’t work right I have to restart the app to send messages so many times because it says it failed delivery.

Service Failure - Court-Ordered Communication App
This app is currently preventing court-ordered communication between my child and his father. I am a paid subscriber, yet for over two weeks the app has not functioned properly, and support responses have been slow and ineffective.
Because this platform is court-ordered, technical failures create serious legal consequences. When an app is used for mandated communication, reliability and timely support are critical. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience.
I have submitted support requests and emphasized the urgency, but the issue remains unresolved. At this point, I am paying for a service that is not being provided and am left documenting outages to protect myself legally.
I hope the company improves both its technical stability and its customer support response times, especially for users relying on this app for court compliance.

Messages
I really dislike that you can’t search messages by keywords like you can in standard text messaging. Without this feature. It’s nearly impossible to find messages from weeks ago, which makes the app pretty much useless for keeping track of past conversations.
App installed to snoop
This app was installed on phone and watch fraudulently without my knowledge by an unknown source. Company was useless in getting my personal data recovered and holding the responsible legally accountable for spying
A scam app
The court is ordering me to use this app. After being free since we started using it, they required us to start paying a subscription fee in the beginning of January 2026. So on top of paying child support and a bunch of legal fees and now I have to also pay for this stupid app.
Fraud
Forced into a subscription through the court, originally it was free, but now I’m forced to pay for the subscription. Evil and disgusting world.
Customer service
Absolutely no customer service! Will not respond to emails or requests
Worst app ever
My ex sent me a link for this app with instructions and a code on how to sign in. The instructions state to open the app and click the circle tap then input the code. There is no circle tab and there is no auction to contact anyone in Support that I was able to find. My ex went ahead and blocked all other forms of communication so now my only recourse. Is to contact my lawyer to contact her lawyer to request we work together to find another option as a IT professional of 10 years for a company to operate with no support options that is supposed to maintain communication between parents and children is the most you’re responsible management I have ever seen I would look into any other coparent options available if I were you
Was better
I have contacted support last year. I haven’t heard back yet. The conversations in the app are being cut off when you enter them. Is there a new limit as to the number of characters you can use? This is a new thing since December. Yes, the app and my phone’s operating system is up to date. The phone has been restarted. AppClose became a subscription app since January which is ok because it a court ordered thing mainly because my coparent is my coparent. Sharing medical information between coparents is difficult when the information is not being conveyed because the app cuts off the message!
Update: I was contacted by the developer. The problem has not been solved.
Update: I was contacted by the developer. The problem has not been solved.
The New Subscription Model…
Is expensive. For what the app is and what we previously got under the application for free there is no value added and now you have to pay for it. Not practical for two people to communicate regarding their kids.
Terrible customer service
There’s a technical issue with the app. It requires you to receive a two step verification. Out of nowhere, I was not able to log into my account because it would send me an email one time password, but I was never receiving the emails. They were not going to my spam, they were not being sent out at all. So far it’s been over a week and I haven’t been able to get any help from customer support. They just say they won’t look into it and get back to me. I had custody court, which I made them aware of, and I was not able to download any of my critical conversations. I cannot believe the lack of customer support.
No longer works
I have been using this app for years and it has always provided the features I need and got the job done. In late 2025 they decided to start charging for the app. My coparent and I did research and decided to continue with this app and to pay the fee.
However, the app has locked my account even though I have paid the fee. I have emailed with the help team but they only answer once and with a standard answer that does not work. There is no phone number to call or chat feature on the website. It’s been a month now and I still can’t access my messages! So frustrating!

Customer service is horrible
I tried for two weeks to get an issue with my subscription resolved to only be answered with “we will look into this”. I had to go through my bank to dispute the transaction. On top of that there is no telephone customer support. I left voicemails to never be answered. An absolute horrible experience. The developer responded to my review saying they cannot handle the issue in a public forum and to reach out. I have reached out over 15 times via email and left 2 messages because you have no telephone support, sir. I have filed a claim with the better business bureau and again disputed my transaction. Y’all can’t even handle issues on a public forum let alone actual issues with the app.
Keep this free!
I use this app until I got the email saying that I would have to pay for it going forward. Coparents, especially ones who have a court order, should not be charged for this service are you kidding me right now. So freaking greedy.
Edit: the response to this doesn’t resolve anything on what i stated. Push the cost on the courts instead as they are the ones insisting that we use it so THEY have eyes on communication.

Court-Ordered Users Beware - Honest Review.
1/27 update:
Immediately contact support, AGAIN, after their public response to my review and NO RESPONSE.
1/25 UPDATE Review:
I am an active AppClose user and am updating my review in response to the company’s public reply claiming they could not locate an account or that my statements do not reflect how the app functions.
To be clear: my review is based on my firsthand experience using AppClose in a court-ordered co-parenting arrangement.
Being told after the fact that my experience “does not reflect how AppClose functions” does not change the reality of how the app has impacted me as a user. Court-mandated platforms should prioritize transparency, accessibility, and responsive support - especially when introducing paid requirements.
I am willing to engage directly with support, but dismissing user feedback publicly rather than addressing it meaningfully only reinforces the concerns raised.
ORIGINAL review:
I originally used AppClose when it was free, and it worked well for basic co-parenting communication and scheduling. Having a central place to log agreements, school activities, and pick-ups is convenient, and the shared calendar can be helpful.
However, after the app started charging, I felt forced into another expense due to a court order. In practice, the app has many serious limitations:
• Reimbursement requests: You cannot mark reimbursements as “paid” or “declined” in a clear way. Even when the other parent receives and sees the request, there’s no verification of acceptance.
• Notifications: Comments or reimbursements may not reliably alert the other parent. There’s no guarantee they see or acknowledge messages.
• Expense tracking: All entries must be manually logged, and there is no consistent way to track recurring expenses or partial contributions.
• Customer support: I reached out for assistance multiple times and received no response. Users are left to figure out workarounds themselves.
• Approval confusion: Some “approval” buttons exist, but they don’t clearly indicate if an expense has been fully reimbursed or simply acknowledged.
• Limited flexibility: You cannot fully adjust entries for past agreements, changes in schedules, or complicated arrangements without creating workarounds.
Because of these flaws, I started to document everything myself separately just to maintain an accurate record, which defeats the purpose of using the app for court-ordered transparency.
Overall: AppClose has potential, but it is not fully reliable for high-conflict or court-ordered situations. The lack of proper reimbursement tracking, unclear approval processes, and unresponsive support make it extremely frustrating for parents who need accountability and transparency. I hope the developers address these issues, especially since many of us are required to use this app by court order that was once free (for major of the services) and now focus to pay to use the app.

No longer free
I was okay with using the app it was brought up by my lawyer and a judge. It was a healthier way of communicating with the other parent. We don’t have any other way of communication but through this app and I don’t use it often it’s just occasionally when there’s an emergency or we need to switch weekends, etc… now the are charging to use it every month I don’t find that necessary because I don’t use it often now I have to look for another to reach out to the other parent because we don’t have each others number and his partner feels it’s disrespectful to have each others number. This is stressful. It was a great app before. I have zero access to all the pictures and conversations from the past until I pay. This is ridiculous!
Bait and Switch
I wonder how many people they were able to get this court ordered to have since it was free. To turn around and put it behind a pay wall knowing that it would cost more to get parenting plans changed.
-Developer responds and act like they’re doing everyone a favor and not just there to collect money. We all know what you really want.
-Developer responds and act like they’re doing everyone a favor and not just there to collect money. We all know what you really want.
Not worth it!
So INCREDIBLY disappointed in this app! This app was court ordered by a judge for communication with my ex so he could stay in touch with our child since we had a DV case. First of all, the app glitches CONSTANTLY! They just recently gave you an option to record phone calls but you have to pay for it which is crazy overpriced. And now you have to pay for a subscription just to use the app in general! I am required to use this specific app to protect me from my ex and I have to pay a monthly fee for it now when it doesn’t even work that well or do enough to protect me. Absolutely outrageous! I would give ZERO stars if I could.
**Update** I saw the response from AppClose. The fee waiver option is a joke! There’s only 3 ways to qualify. If you don’t meet one of those 3 options, it doesn’t matter. I’ve talked to your customer service multiple times because this app messes up so much and everyone is extremely rude. Don’t pretend to be sympathetic to family issues when all you care about is how you can make more and more money off victims of domestic violence.

Extortion at its finest.
I don’t need or use any of the “new” “paid” features and are forced to pay for them. It needs to go back to the previous model of paid recorded calls and free texting like it was and has been for a long while.
EDIT: Response I resolved from AppClose:
"We appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to clarify. Each month, AppClose facilitates over 27 million secure interactions including messages, calls, shared events, expenses, and custody updates preserved as unalterable, court ready records. After nearly a decade of service, we’re introducing one all inclusive plan beginning January 1, 2026, announced with 60 days’ notice. The $8.99 per month plan has no tiers, upsells, or hidden fees and includes fee waivers for families in need, plus a 60 day free trial for new users. Unlike other apps that limit features, require annual prepay, or charge extra for calls, recordings, storage, or exports, AppClose remains unlimited, ad free, and court trusted. We encourage families to compare plans and prices across co-parenting apps, along with tools, reviews, and restrictions, and choose what best supports their co parenting needs."
Still hold my position that it is a crock that this is a paid app!

Poor customer service
My app stop working once I was forced into signing up for the subscription. Customer service took 2 weeks to respond back and address the problem. The app work prefect before the subscription.
Both party needs to sign up for the subscription which is ridiculous. only one parent should be paying the fee for one family, not every person on the account required to pay. I will be switching to a different parent app as the customer service here sucks and doesn’t address the problem.

Waste of time and money
This app provides no more functionality than you already have. And now they have got rid of the free version and want you to subscribe for $9 a month. What a rip off!
Subscribe?
The only reason I use this app is because of the The family court mandated now we can’t use it because they are charging a fee just to message back-and-forth for a subscription. Even though the app has a lot of other features. They added a subscription feature because so many family courts were suggesting it. Now that no one is signing up for it. Thier extending legacy subscription payments to users who join d before the payment subscription. Went from having a lot of traffic to none!
Dont get it at all ask the court to find a new app.
This is sickening. You have court saying its “Free! and you need to use it!” just to be hit with this year that you need a subscription to even text. This company is scummy and to know that you need to pay for this for court made it worse limit the features if your not making enough but discontinuing text is even worse. get your stuff together because you look like your trying to grab peoples money like a video game. Fix it.
SCAM!!
I have tried canceling my subscription but they give the run around and will never let you cancel!
Was good before greed won
I could understand the new features like calls and call recording being paywalled. I could even understand changing it to subscription for existing features like location check in. But locking the messaging too is absolutely greed and it was funny to watch them spam us with bait emails to get a “legacy discount” and it was so overpriced even at a discounted price. Legacy users should get unlocked messages for life, period. Paywall everything else, I don’t care. I would’ve paid for that but the audacity to lock the messages too just shows they aren’t loyal to us so why should I be loyal to them? I’d rather find a better app if I’m going to be paying.
Horrible
It is absolutely crazy they are making this a paid app. I should not have to pay to speak with my child. It also does not send me notifications half of the time.
Subscription Based
Great app for cordial communication between ex spouses but out of nowhere they required a subscription fee. Awful tactics. No thank you
NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Do NOT use this app!!! Customer Support is NONEXISTENT!!
I’ve Emailed and tried texting in the app for assistance with NO response! They started a subscription based model. I believe they have taken the money and ran. BEWARE!!!! YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!!!

Was great
Starting using it, because it was free. Used it for probably about two years. Had no issues with it. Did video calls with my son, etc. Now, the fact that both parents have to have a paid subscription to use this is absurd. If they wanted to introduce a 2.99 fee or something small, fine. But going from free to 10 bucks a month per parent? Absolutely insane.
Greedy company
Went from a free app to now you have to pay 10$ a month. Greedy company once again. Not worth 10$ I will delete and switch apps
