No kindle
I have a bible that is better then this and kindle. When I highlight, the words should change color not the passage. And where is the red highlight. All the colors choosen are muttered, and all are almost the same same color. Pages stick. I look up the page isn’t turning but the page number at the bottom is. Close the app reopen and I’m 300 pages in a different direction. If you are going to compete make the best not just copy and paste. I want my money back so I can purchase on kindle. That would be a fix

Deletes your downloads without asking
Why is there an option to choose delete the download manually, or when finished? Cause this app will ignore that and delete it anyway. I’m always having to redownload my books and nothing is more enjoyable than hoping on a plane and finding a book you downloaded last week had been deleted and I have to now redownload it from the cloud, only now I don’t have WiFi and I no longer have access to my book.

Not user friendly!
This app is incredibly frustrating to use!! I go in looking for specific books, and I can never find them! I always get the audiobook option, or the books in different languages! It should not be this difficult to purchase a book I’d like to read.
How to cancel a purchase!
I clicked on the Books app and searched for a title but I discovered that doing a search resulted in automatically purchasing the book! I now have two books that I didn’t want to download and that have been charged to me. How do I cancel these download/ purchases? I plan to delete the Books app so this doesn’t happen again.
can no longer open offline epub files without being connected to the internet
for some reason in a recent update apple books will no longer let you import a file into your library without being connected to the internet. this is a really disappointing change

Barely usable for me
I can’t believe how buggy this app is. If a third party developer submitted an app like this to the App Store, Apple would likely reject it! There are so many issues that trying to list them here would be a waste of time. Get it together, Apple!

Your library near you is better
I’m paying so much extra money for this if I’m forced to pay taxes and have a library near me that I’m not using I’ll use that to save money plus they give me suggestions on what to read

Still can’t read an entire chapter without interruption and stop. I long for the creativity and competency of the Apple of old.
Terrible “Upgrade”
I had a document that I created with iBooks Author. When I opened it, I could tap on the drop down for Table of Contents. I could see a table of contents, and tap on the item I wanted to view. It had a very useful and easy interface. Today I tried to open that same book, and the Apple Books application immediately crashed. I was advised to delete the app and reinstall it. After I did that, I opened the book I created with iBooks Author and all of the functionality that I valued was gone. There was no table of contents and the book format was changed. It is no longer user friendly. It is awful and from my perspective completely useless. I think Apple Books converted by document from iBooks Author to Pages. I now need to find a different software for the book because Pages lacks the functionality of the discontinued iBooks Author.

daily goal small widget always breaks . it’s stuck at 10 minutes to completion, even though it’s the app it shows that I completed the goal far further than that restarting. The app doesn’t work reinstalling the widget doesn’t work.

It is true. Apple cut adrift loyal customers by making it difficult to use older .pages files in new releases of pages. I don’t know how such a vile decision was made but I do know the rotten idea was made actual.
Terrible syncing
This app is and always has been very slow and cumbersome to sync between various devices…and yes, all of my sync and cloud settings are turned on and otherwise properly set. There is no way to manually sync either, which is a real pain as well. I can literally add a book to my want to read list on one device, and go to another a bit later and it will not reflect the addition. This has literally been a problem at some level for over a decade that I have used the app. Love the formatting, store experience, etc, but please learn a thing or two from Kindle, Nook, or Kobo and fix the sync issues NOW! Oh, and also please modernize the way books may be added or removed from collections. As it stands now, if I want to put all books with Britain in the title for instance, there is no way after the search is complete to select books to add. This is so primitive and beneath Apple that it is really pathetic.

After buying over 100 books and enjoying them I can never trust apple again because I don’t feel like apple appreciates my business
Steve Jobs is appalled
The only thing this app offers is the ability to buy an audiobook and listen to it. That’s basically it. You can’t place a bookmark or make a note about a passage, you have to choose whether you want the ability to skip forward/back by chapter or skip forward/back by increments, and you can’t follow an author to get notifications when their next book comes out.

Now every time I go read that one book I first have to look at/paw through all the other books he has ever written.

I cannot read "regular old" books b/c of eye disease but I have got to think that very few people have any idea about the joy of reading book. And treat it more like anything else...like TV maybe!?!

Poor navigation
Finding recent audiobooks is annoyingly difficult on the mobile app. When searching, the keyboard stays up and blocks lower selections of the search library. There is no immediate tab or section for recent books listened to. Please make it easier to continue recent books from the main page.

Good App, Weird Direction
Whoever has been assigned to handle the app lately has made decisions that are Apple friendly, and not user friendly. There are basic things missing like per book font settings but that change happening are more of the store shoved in my face, my reading now list being squashed to show more of the books I should buy and a reading goal feature that I can’t turn off. Disappointing to see this from Apple.
